Pros:
(1.972 Rating) A short park style course with a couple water plays.
- FUN FACTOR - This is a total feel good course with a plethora of birdie and ace potential. Novice level players and their three amigos may love this place. Very little, if any searching in the overgrowth and the hole distances can be reached easily by athletic first timers on a couple holes. I see this as being a good starter course and a good place to hunt for aces.
- TEES - Reasonably sized concrete pads that will work for this shorter than normal course. I wrote average sized pads in my post round notes, but checked the satellite info and measured 4 feet by 8 feet.
- NAVIGATION AND SIGNAGE - I had zero issues finding my way around here despite not seeing a course map. The tee signs are simple and have hole numbers and distances on them. They are generally easy to spot between holes except after hole (2), which is 150 feet north and across a creek. Two tee signs were missing the separate hole number placard on my play.
- QUICK PLAY - Although rounds will likely be interrupted by constant walker traffic, it's so short and so simple that sub 30 minute rounds should be routine by solos. I finished in 23 minutes during a modestly busy park setting.
- PARK MAINTENANCE - The park as a whole was in fantastic shape and is likely almost always this way if I had to guess. Lots of landscaping was evident and little tree debris and trash was observed.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - I scored this aspect 50 percentile. The landscaping and general park maintenance was the leading factor, but the pond element and creek also helped quite a bit. The lack of exotic terrain and a constant view of the built environment kept me from elevating my score any higher.
Cons:
Simplistic with walking paths in plays.
- CHAINS AND EXTRAS - The baskets are pretty bad. Single chained, rusting and banged up. My thoughts and reactions in seeing them up close was similar to seeing a Geo Metro driving on the road in 2021. In addition to the poor baskets, there aren't many extras here. Only one tee and basket per hole, no practice baskets and limited seating at the tees. There's a nice shelter behind tee (2) with a picnic table and there are restrooms in the park before tee (1).
- MULTI USE HAZARDS - Sidewalks are in play on just about every hole. Thankfully walkers and joggers can be seen well before it's an issue most of the time, but I would have to believe that someone has made the mistake before and thrown at the wrong time. I did quite a bit of waiting at the tees here on a weekend mid afternoon. It seemed like the walkers were obliviously to me being on the pad the day I played and they would continue walking into the fairway lines despite seeing me about to throw.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - Almost cupcake. Hole (5) is an unsatisfying 130 foot open jump putt and the following hole wasn't that much better. I think Novice level players could finish under par out here from time to time, although they will also lose plastic in the water occasionally. I will fathom a guess and say that even par will draw an 835 rated round. I personally played bad on a very windy day and finished 4 down.
- LOST DISC POTENTIAL - As noted, it was super windy the day I showed up. I almost lost one on (2), but thankfully the tall grasses along the pond edge stopped it from sliding in. New players will lose plastic in the water here. I would define the disc lost potential to newer players as moderate. Skilled players will rarely lose them however.
- HOLE VARIETY - Although there is an evident water element, the overall hole variety is well below average. The longest hole is only about 300 feet long. It was the only time I personally used a driver as I don't have a bombers arm. Seven of the holes are sub 250 and most of these lack complexity. No elevation change and no heavily wooded holes. The only hole I really enjoyed was hole (9) as it splits some trees and goes over the creek.
Other Thoughts:
This is the ninth time I've played a course with the word Heritage in the course name. I'll rank it fifth out of that grouping of courses. So, I guess one could say that the heritage is just average here… I don't know why I personally found that entertaining to write. Anyways, this is a decent course in my opinion. It offers the basics of the game in an easy-going format. Easy to access off the highway and thus this one is firing on all cylinders for its bagger potential. I wish I had time to bag more courses in the area but my family was just passing thru on the way back home to Alabama. I highly doubt this is a top tier or even a second tier area course, so there's no reason to come here unless you're looking for an easy numbers padding course like me.
