Pros:

Pulling into the lot , there is adequate parking space here . The bathroom is to the far left of the first tee and on the side of hole #9 . Leisure Park is a 9 hole course .
The Equipment : All tee pads are cement . The baskets are basic Machs . The signage is good , with Hole# , par , distance and map of tee to basket . I saw no kiosk , so print the map , because it can get confusing which basket you throw to .
The Landscape : The park and course was mowed and well taken care of when I was there . Leisure Park DGC is in the shape of an L , with 1-3 going down the side , then 4 & 5 going out and back ( bottom of the L ) and 6-8 filling in the other side , with 9 going into the middle . Packing 9 holes into an area this size is impressive . There is little elevation here . some very slow and light grades on some holes . There is no real overgrowth here , but a large creek may come into play on the right side of hole #5 . The mature trees here are lightly scattered around the park .
The highlights : The better holes here were #4 , which is a light-sloping downhill 305' where you have to bring it slightly left to right from the open fairway . #5 was back up the #4 slope on the right . The brush and the creek are on your right and the basket is tucked away at the end on the right , on the right 310' away .
Disc Risk : Very low . I don't know how hard it is to get down in that creek and be able to fish your disc out , but if you avoid it , you shouldn't lose your disc .
Time : The course was busy on the Monday late evening that I played . It still only took me maybe 30 minutes to play . A group of 4 could play this in under an hour . It is short and fast .
This course is as popular as it is fun . There were probably 20 people on this 9 hole course the whole time I was here . Disc golf has caught on in this immediate area . The locals here are friendly ,

Cons:

#1 Safety : Yikes ! The course is so tight that 2 & 6 might collide with drives to the already driven . 4 & 5 could have the same effect , and maybe 8-9 or a wayward drive from 9 to 7 . The locals do their best to provide disc golf courtesy , but several on the course are newbies , families or 1 discers and are not as skilled to provide it . Also , holes 2 and 4 fairways have fenced in back yards on the right side of the fairway . I threw a glider too close and it ended up in a back yard on 2 . The fence is open on the far end , but it would be terrible to nail some kid playing in the dirt in his own back yard .
#2 Navigation . Print your map or follow a local . Even though the course follows a flow , you will encounter baskets to throw at which are the wrong ones ( 1-9 , 6 instead of 2 , 7 instead of 6 )
#3 Challenge . The trees make the challenge here . It is a short course with little elevation . Good players can tear this course apart . Not much variety to the course . No par 4's or 5's , no doglegs . At the end , I was even hoping for a hanging or elevated basket .
No amenities to speak of , but pure disc golf .

Other Thoughts:

If I had played this course at 6:30 in the morning ,and been by myself , I wouldn't have though much of it . But this course was alive when I was here , even on a Monday night with threatening rain . I was also surprised to see a group of 5 decent ams playing . Leisure Park doesn't seem like much , but is gets a LOT of love from the locals . it's just a shame that there is no room to expand this course to 18 holes .
My Recommendation : Decent intro course for the curious , newbies , families , and dates . Locals and 1 discers love this course . local intermediates and ams must meet here to hone their game , socialize and one-up each other . A pro might not bother unless to hang out . This course is great for both the traveler on rt 30 going to/from Ft Wayne ( it's very easy on the legs and fast ) , and not far off I-75 . Course Collectors can grab this along with several others a short distance away . This is not a course I highly recommend , but it is a fun short play and a great leg stretch . If not a local , stop for a round if on the highway .

Pretty good ‘starter’ 2+ years

Pros:

Scaled with distances for the Recreational player to enjoy, and with a well-tended park atmosphere featuring established trees and no underbrush, you have little to no chance to lose a disc while learning the game here, provided you use caution going around the left to right bend by the canal on hole 5. Great course map at the start, informative signage at each level concrete tee pad, and newer DisCatcher baskets at each of the nine level holes.

You need to shape shots around some large pines on holes 1 & 7, and can choose your line throughout most of the course. The course flow makes for a decent, quick loop, without too much punishing distance or tight greens to deter families from enjoying their park. And there isn't much else in the way of disc golf really close by. But if your kids start out here, they can 'graduate' to a couple of more challenging courses within a half hour's drive, one in Lima (Ottawa Metro Park), and another in St. Marys (Grand Miami).

Cons:

The lack of distance will keep most folks at Intermediate and above disinterested, but might be just a hair too long for youngsters to really feel accomplished here. The private yards are actually a little too close on the right on holes 2 through 4, so good diplomacy is a must if you stray too wide. There are spots where you see too many baskets too close together (1, 9 & 7 are only a long putt away from each other). And you should wait to tee off on hole 2 if folks are putting out on 6.

Other Thoughts:

Swinging through the region to check off a small group of courses, I was glad to have met a local family for a brief chat as they politely let me play through. They seemed to be enjoying themselves and appreciate having a course in their town.

At your Leisure, you'll find a good DG course :) 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 13, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Descriptive tee signs (each tee sign mentioned to make sure the hole is clear before throwing. and with a small space such as this park, this is essential)

Big enough tee pads. Heck, I've been to many parks that would love to have tee pads like Leisure Park has.

Very hospitable club members! (And from what I gathered I was late for Sunday morning scrambles, which started @ 11 am)

Cons:

not enough park space for more holes and some holes bordered neighboring back yards.

this course favored a LHBH player.

Other Thoughts:

Given the space that was provided, the local Disc Golf club did a good job with a good recreational Disc Golf course.

I would add a little spice to the course by elevating a basket or two or putting a basket nearer the creek.

Not bad 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 27, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a decent course, and I commend everyone involved in getting it put in. It's very flat, which makes for an easy walk. This course is great for a quick round or two. I played it twice in about 35 to 40 minutes. The course also flows well, with no issues finding teepads.

Cons:

While the teepads are easy to find, some of the baskets are confusing. When I stepped on the tee for hole one, I could see 2 baskets. Thinking I had figured out which one it was, I played for it to find that was the basket for hole 9... the other one I could see was hole 7! Hole 1 was behind a tree. While this made it a better hole, it points to the main problem with the course: it's packed in tight. I was the only one there the day I played, but if there were other people, we would have been throwing at each other on a couple pads, and probably in each others fairways a few times. This course also lacks interest. While hole 7 has an ok line, most of the rest of the course is just a matter of getting around a single tree. Most of these lines tend to be anny lines as well, so there's not a lot of diversity.

Other Thoughts:

This course was a pleasant walk, and a good break from a long car trip along US 30. I feel the course is packed in tight, but I'm not sure there's much room to work. I don't know if the area behind the building there (I think it's a firehouse) is part of the park, but a hole or 2 back there could space things out. Or perhaps a 6 hole course would fit the park better. I like the holes ok, but there's just not really anything special about this course. My recommendation: don't go out of your way to play here, but it's pleasant enough if your passing by it anyway.
