All in all I feel this is a really good simplistic course, I thoroughly enjoyed my round here and had fun. I walked away thinking this is one of those courses that you would gravitate towards for that easy after work round before heading home or whenever you just wanted to throw some shots and get some practice repetitions in. Difficulty is average, and anyone who can throw a decent distance and controlled lines will score very well here.

The course starts off with a few open field type holes then weaves it's way into a slightly wooded area that provides a great mix of lines and distances. Within the wooded holes are another handful that play back and forth into an open area. A couple more wooded offerings then you finish with a few more open holes playing along a fenced tree lined boundary with marshy grass areas to contend with.

There really aren't any bad holes, but there's also nothing that stands out either. It's a nice clean, multi-use park with a solid disc golf course. Would easily throw it again, but it's not one I'd put on my must play list when in the area.

This course is a mix, with about half the course being open holes and half being more wooded and technical. Maintenance appears to be good, and tees are currently in the process of being converted from turf to concrete. There were four or five already when I played here in July, and they anticipate having all 18 in by September. The Innova baskets catch well, and the wind coming off the water does help mix it up some on the open holes. There are scorecards and pencils at the kiosk by hole 1, and port-a-johns should you need them. This course isn't as crowded as most others in the area can get.

When I say there are a lot of open holes, I mean there are WIDE OPEN holes, with nothing between the tee and the basket but flat ground and grass. If you love 260'-320' bland, open holes, this could be your absolute dream course. For the rest of us, it can get a bit repetitive. Worst of all, a bunch of holes here (especially in the wooded section of the course) are right on top of each other. Be sure to check the map on here or on the back of the scorecard, and watch out before you tee off. On a busy day I could see that area becoming the disc golf equivalent of paintball.

Course par here is listed as 70, which is pretty ridiculous; it should probably be 54, but could provide a boost to your ego I guess when you "eagle" the 210' par 4 hole #5.

This is definitely worth playing if you're in the area, but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for it. It's a great warmup before playing something more challenging, however, like Sycamore or Fairborn.

-Wind tunnels create some sick opportunities to test out those high speed drivers. You don't think you'll need it looking at the distance, but once you feel the wind get ready to bust out the ole speed 13 with the high fade

-This course is always wet, especially around holes 1-3. Every time I've been to this course, even when it hasn't rained recently, it's mushy ground, soak your shoes and freeze your socks wet.
-No tee pads, which creates really bad footing in we areas
-Bring a map. Gonna be hard to navigate without one.

Typical course that's worth a look, but now one to write home about. I'd like this course a lot more if the ground wasn't always so bad. Also, there's a pond near holes 1-3 which can pull discs in if the wind is bad. Dunnzo Funzo favorite into the wind driver.

I think it's cool this is a memorial course. They made the best of what they had to work with. But this course is very forgettable. If you want a round to yourself, this is the course for you. But the open holes get very boring. You won't like this course on windy days. Even on the holes in the woods, the trees don't catch the wind well. If they ever tear up Kettering I might put this course in my rotation. But otherwise, I'll pass.

The course is set in a nice park that already has a pond used by two rc boat clubs, one powered and the other is for sailboats only. There is also a walking trail and skate park between 17's baskets and 18's tee. Along with a couple shelters, one that gets used regularly by the first tee and the other by 2's basket is seldom used. So when playing this course use caution and be aware of the non-disc golfers that use the park frequently.

This course has many issues that make it coear there was little to no previous design experience by those that put the course inthe ground. Several holes play directly towards other tees, faiways and baskets along with a couple that have you thowing close to other park patrons. There is also a lack of balance and flow to the design that also reflects the lack of design experience. Many receptive throws and the overall dominance for roght to left or just open holes makes for a relatively boring round.

There is the ability to correct most of the cons before tee pads are installed and that is a plus.

Even though this course is closer to my house, I think the challenges of Germantown or Sycamore make for a more enjoyable round at this time

Set in a beautiful park beside a fishing and remote control boat pond, the 'Fairways of Hope' dedicated to Shane Miller make for a nice tribute. The course kiosk signage gives inspirational details worthy of a read as you stretch and get ready to throw this 18 hole course. You'll want to get loose if you're an old guy like me: 300 footers are abundant right from the start, and most days will see some breezes off the water on your left. Look for consistent, informative signage at each (natural) tee, and throw from between the numbered pavers. New DisCatchers are nicely visible on almost all holes, with the exceptions being 4, 5, and maybe 15, where you'll want to walk up the fairway just a short way to find your target. Except for the pretty, rising, roadside hole 6, the park didn't have any elevation to work with, so it was nice that they were able to incorporate the trees on about half the holes, but only risk disc loss on the last three (thick rough on your left), and if you try a water crosser on 3).

First timers will want to grab a copy of the map and scorecard (available at the kiosk sign or online) because some of the holes in and out of the woods are just slightly hidden from view off the tee, and you'll want to get a feel for where others might be on adjacent holes before you throw. There are definitely spots where errant throws may cause safety issues: it's easy to throw into the shelter on 2, at folks on the path or bench on 3, have a tree kick you from the 5th fairway right at the 8th tee, or possibly get close to the next tee on a misthrow on 9 or 11.

The course does tend to 'favor' the player who can comfortably drive 300-330 feet, as half the holes are definitely in their wheelhouse, and only two holes range further afield (so to speak: the 360 foot 11th and the 430 foot 17th). Overall, there were times the course's lack of variety got to me a little. I'd look at a hole and say to myself, "oh, this one's just like hole X, just longer" (or shorter). And though so many holes were really relatively open, the course is just a tad long for Recreational players, and not challenging enough for Advanced and Open players. Intermediates: enjoy your deuces!

Finally, there will quickly be some significant erosion happening with the dirt tees, so it would be nice if more permanent material is planned in the future.

The course is already seeing a tremendous amount of play, which is impressive when you consider the next closest courses are the much more challenging Sycamore Trails and the much bigger Arthur Fisher.

Moraine Rotary DGC is a pleasant park course nestled between Dayton and its southwestern suburb of Moraine. The first new 18-hole course in metro Dayton in nearly five years, Rotary fills an important need for a fun, low exertion, rec level circuit. If you're short on time but looking for a relaxing and fun round, Moraine is your top choice.

Roughly half of the course plays in a grove of trees that's light enough to offer multiple lines to the pin and some basic to intermediate level shaping opportunities. This grove is fully utilized by the design, and the player essentially covers the entire area throughout the round. Pin placements in here are well thought out - greens are lightly protected and make for some fun approaches.

The remaining holes consist of almost entirely open "filler" and routing-necessitated holes of varying lengths. On many other courses this would be a con, but the open holes fit the character here and are mediocre rather than bad.

Disc golf is now the primary feature of this park, which is located in a quiet, almost rural area. Other park activities include a small lake with walking path and a small skate park.

All 18 holes feature sparkling new Innova baskets and colorful tee signs with hole diagrams.

Despite the fact that there's a lot of golf crammed into a relatively tight space, the routing is fairly intuitive. The closest tee pad is almost always the next one.

Unfortunately, the tee pads are natural (for now) and have already worn in pretty heavily in a short time. They'll likely be rutted and difficult to use by next summer. Concrete pads would be fantastic, but even rubber mats would help with erosion control.

It's understandable because of the small space, but some pins are fairly close to other pads, so keep an eye out for other players.

There are a number of low-lying areas, both in the grove and in the open. They drain better than you might expect, but still house a decent amount of bugs. It's a bit early to tell how big of a problem this will be in other seasons, but for now bring some bug spray.

In my mind, Moraine is an "after work" course: it takes two people less than 90 minutes to play, it's not terribly strenuous or difficult, and it's quite a bit of fun for what it is. It's certainly not a destination course, but will likely develop into a well-traveled local hangout in time. I'd put it closer to a 2.75, but tee pad improvement would bring it up to a solid 3.

Watch out for people using the popular skatepark when throwing Hole 18.

PROTIP: Avoid going left into the brush and over the fence along Holes 16/17, as the foliage is thicker than it appears and the opposite side of the fence is difficult to access. If you do end up shanking one, the best point to go in and out is a spot where the fence is broken about a third of the way down the Hole 17 fairway. Otherwise you're looking at a chain link/barbed wire/thick brush triple threat if you cleared the barrier.
