Good Park Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 21, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Good Baskets
-Decent Signage
-Park Upkeep is good
-Utilizes edge of the park trees for interest
-Layout is good

Cons:

-Natural Tees
-Many soccer fields, may come into play on #2 and #7
-Only facility was a port-o-john
-No benches / trashcans

Other Thoughts:

Outlet Recreation Complex DGC is located in the complex on the east side of Clear Lake, IA. A multi-use park with several soccer fields and a walking path. The soccer fields may come into play on #2 and #7, the walking path is mostly out of play except for a really errant shot on #4, 5 and 6. There is a small creek (the "Outlet" of Clear Creek) along holes #3, 4 and 5, but unless you are wildly to the left, it does not come into play. Hole #4 requires a good left fade around some brush and #9 needs a sharp left about 20' off the tee. The rest of the holes are wide open and the entire course is flat. I could see some potential issues with other park uses, especially on #2 and #7 on busy soccer days in the park, but it was pretty quiet when I played. I was impressed at the flow with utilizing the edges of the park for some interest. Adding concrete tees, some benches / trashcans would add to the rating for me here. A rather quick play, I enjoyed my round and would play again, when in the area.

Wide Open but Well Mowed 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 25, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ Well mowed/maintained
+ Walking path throughout the course that doesn't really interfere with the disc golf play
+ Tee signs and baskets clearly marked
+ Course navigation is pretty straight forward
+ Okay hole distance for a 9 hole course

Cons:

- Wide open with not much shot variety.
- No tee pads, but they aren't really a necessity for the distance required on most shots.

Other Thoughts:

Beware of wild parsnip! There appears to be a decent amount of it near the creek, but it's possible I misidentified the plant.

The course is wide open with mostly straight, flat (no elevation) shots. There are maybe two holes that require a hyzer or anhyzer shot. The tee signs show trees in some of the fairways with non-straight shots, but the trees don't appear to exist yet. I hope this means that someone is planning to plant some trees in the future.

There is a creek that runs along side holes 3-6. The creek isn't too close to the fairways, but an errant shot could land you in the water. There didn't appear to be any restrooms or water fountains on site, but the park is pretty close to gas stations and a nearby school.
