Pros:

-Baskets OK
-Nice next tee signs
-Well kept area
-Historic Axe Murder House a few blocks away

Cons:

-Natural tees
-Short
-Ball fields in play on #1, #2, #3 and #9
-Backyards in play on #5 and #8
-#9 basket near the #2 tee, bit of a walk back to parking

Other Thoughts:

Villisca DGC plays in the backyard of Enarson Elementary of the Southwest Valley Schools in Villisca, IA. A reasonable school grounds course, the holes wind around the baseball fields east of the school. A few left fades around trees are needed on #1, #2, #3 and #7. #4, #5, #6, #8 are all straight shots (and mostly short). #9 has a RHBH shooting over the softball center field to fade back by the tree near the last basket. Tee signs are basic, but there are nice next tee signs under each basket. I can see some issues if there are games going on, mostly with the backfield fence spectators. I played in late summer and had the place to myself. Another good starter course with some ace opportunities for more experienced players. Villisca is also home to a long unsolved murder (1912) in a house about 8 blocks away. (Google Villisca Axe Murder House for the story, current hours are VERY limited.) Add some concrete tees for a slight bump in rating. Stop by Villisca for the history and a quick round. A bit out of the way for me, but I would play again, if in the area.
