Board of Directors Election Results

I know Pete makes himself available on this forum, anybody know if Kevin McCoy does. I would hope making himself available here and on the PDGA, Discgolfreview.... would provide a good source of player input.

Do you guys think one of the reasons the incumbents got re-elected was because they were the only ones familiar with the majority of voters?

The history of voters has always been "oh I know that name. They are good at playing disc golf!"

americans in general are stupid and just continually re-elect the same people cause they dont want to put in the effort to see who would be better for them. it amazes me when these same people ask why nothing ever changes....so irritating. has always seemed pretty simple to em, if you dont like the direction vote out all the incumbents...
Glad Shive was re-elected, was hoping Mike Solt would make it too.

In this year's election, I doubt that had much effect. It's not like when top pros have run.

Shive is a bit of a gadfly, and the only one on the ballot, so he has a certain constituency that wasn't divided among voters.

McCoy, among other things, promoted and accomplished the sanctioned league system. For people looking for change, that's one of the bigger changes that I recall someone running for the board promoting, and then accomplishing it.

It could also be that, despite the impressions forums may give, a lot of PDGA members are satisfied with the PDGA---enough to vote back in the incumbents, or not vote and cede the decision to others.

Anyway, I'm grateful to everyone who offered their services. It was one of the best and deepest ballots I recall, and a shame only 2 could be chosen.

Personally, I am very disapointed about Shive's reelection. A lot of the topics he brings up at board meetings are things that I do not agree with.

Overall, I'm ok with his reelection, just not at the expense of Shawn Sinclair.

McCoy definitely has been successful implementing the league program. Hopefully he can be successful implementing varsity high school disc golf.

Absolutely. One of the best programs the PDGA has done in years. Was happy to vote for him so this can progress.

I'd add a stipulation here that it may mean that "a lot of PDGA members are satisfied with [these two particular incumbents]".. a sentiment that I personally would agree with. After all, a lot of board seats weren't up for a vote at all this year, so saying this particular election result was indicative of overall board approval is a bit overstated.

That said, I've greatly appreciated Peter Shive's level of (forum) interaction with the community, and his push for better PDGA transparency and openness. I also admit to having been (pleasantly) surprised at how well-received sanctioned leagues have been. In short, I think both incumbents have accomplished (or at least attempted) exactly what they said they were about.

Kevin and Peter are both worthy choices. IMO the vast majority of what is wrong with the ORG does not stem from the elected officials.
