Just curious to hear how Prodigy sales are going.

Some top pros have a lot riding on these disc sales.

I have only recently started seeing them available at local stores and events.

But I didn't buy yet.

I'm always slow to jump on the latest manufacturer's bandwagon, and I figure that, for every new mold that comes out, Innova probably already makes at least two molds just like it, and I probably already own them.

I don't think you're going to get any concrete answers, but I see a good bit of Prodigy around here (Charlotte, NC). I would say it's probably getting around the same amount of business as MVP.

There is a ton of prodigy around here, but then again the store down the road is going Prodigy crazy... so did I for awhile too.

I've been doing my part anyway... haven't bought anything not made by Prodigy since my first encounter with their 400s plastic. I will say however that Spinners on the Green has a pretty good selection of Prodigy discs, but I don't see them flying off the shelves or anything. AND they're the only store that I know of that carries Prodigy in my 'area', but I could be wrong.

They seem to be pretty popular in metro Atlanta, but their company HQ is here, and they are hitting the stores here as soon as anywhere. I haven't been to my local shop recently, but they seem to be moving pretty well from what I've seen. The trick is not so much to get people to buy the first couple of discs, but to keep them coming back for more, when they lose or wear out the old ones. A lot of chuckers will be happy enough with a $10 disc that the top end plastics can struggle to take a share of the market. Once the disc collectors and dg addicts get their fix, sales can drop off. The second and third year of production is where I would worry if I were a start up.

I see ALOT of Prodigy around here.. At least 2 or more people on each of my cards this weekend at a tournament were throwing Prodigy drivers.. I haven't thrown anything other than the PA-2 in the 300 plastic

I don't think it's really took off in Nor Cal yet, but it is available at the shops. I've tried two drivers and ended up giving them to friends who are needing plastic. Not bashing the company at all, but I just haven't seen a lot of it in tournaments either.

I have seen a couple of people throwing Prodigy discs. According to the Prodigy website they have 395 dealers worldwide. If the average dealer sells only 100 discs then that is only 39500 discs sold. Another thing to consider is that Prodigy's products are probably in the innovators stage of the product life cycle.

I played with a guy at Fox Chase and he was throwing a Prodigy mid. That's the only Prodigy I've seen in my neck of the woods. The PIAS in Greensboro does carry some though.

I'm not really interested in it b/c they have actually beaten Millennium at the "most confusing names for discs/plastics" game. I can't make hides nor tails of that stuff, might as well be in binary code. :|

Not a lot of Prodigy being throw around here either. We even have a PIA and a local vendor who sells it. However, people around this area cling to their old Innova like safety blanket, so that might be why too.

There are a couple shops here in the area carrying Prodigy and some of the local players are throwing them. I really like the feel of the plastic but just not in the position to start over when I have a few of the discs that I already throw...

I do like how they use a similar shape for each of their catagories (D,F,M,P) but still create different stabilities.

Our local PIA carries the drivers but every time I go in there to check the used bin for hidden treasures, I see that they haven't even been touched. Maybe because I push Legacy throughout my area. And the Cannon is the most popular driver around here anyways.

Too early to say. They're still a "fad" here. Lots of people bought some, and are throwing them, but may or may not keep them in the bag.

I talked with a well known Prodigy pro a few weeks ago and he indicated that Prodigy is well ahead of its "business plan" and "disc roll out plan". I didn't grill him on details. I believe that his answers were sincere. I also recognize that a product's "pro reps" may not be 100% grounded on the vagaries within a company's business plan. Still the overall response was very optimistic. Take it for what its worth.

It's the #1 seller on the Disc Golf Monkey Tour this year... if you don't get in line early with your voucher, the Prodigy stuff is gone before you can enter the trailer.

Most everyone here in league carries some kind of Prodigy and some have full Prodigy bags.

It seems to be that where there are prodigy team members located the sales are high, mainly because they are out promoting the discs and let's face it the majority of people kiss a$$ to know the top guys and many think if they throw the same discs they will be the same kind of player. In Minnesota Cale Leiviska opened Airborn which has done well, still a back seat to Gotta Go Gotta Throw but he took alot of business from Fairway Flyerz, Air Traffic and Everyday disc golf just on his name alone.
