I've been playing dg for just over 12 years. In the beginning I tried every single new disc I could and bought the latest fastest new driver as soon as they came out. I was looking over my bag last night and I realised it's remained unchanged for about 5 years.

I also noticed all my molds would be considered pretty slow by today's standards, jls, firebird, leopard, roc, spider, wizard. In trying the new discs I found they weren't a real improvement over the older molds. In fact in most cases the added speed equaled less control and accuracy. I've played a few tournaments and placed top three in all of them. My stragedy wasnt to be the best it was to make the least mistakes. I think slower, more controllable drivers are great for this.

I'm wondering if others are doing the same thing and is it working? Have you kept the same molds over time, do you throw older molds, I won't use the phrase old school as who is to say what's an old school disc in a sport that is hardly three decades old.

If it claims to be farthest flying driver ever created, and easy for beginners to throw. I will pay any amount!

I can tell you ken climo and barry Schultz haven't changed there discs for a while. With that said I wouldn't be able to play golf without a destroyer or some other high speed disc. There needed for my game

yes. but i'm cheap. :D the newest discs i've bought have been the ace races the last 4 years.

I may have changed a bunch of discs in my time playing, but they are the same types of discs. Stable and understable fairways, stable mids, slightly overstable beaded putters.

The putters in particular have been pretty much identical as I went from KC Aviar to Wizard to Ion. I've been putting with the Neutron Ion since it was released in June of 2012...and I'm never going to stop.

Now that my bag is exclusively MVP, it's not a big deal to keep adding new discs to the bag to see where they fit. Some stay for a while, but then leave (Vectors and Anodes). Others will always be there (Amps, Tangents, Ions).

No what I do is trade all the high zoot stuff I get at league for multitudes of my slow old drivers. A few months ago I got 3 nice 150 leopard for an eco boss if I remenber right.

But for the reals......

Plastic buying can be addictive . I am not sure I would have been able to find the right stuff without going a little overboard. And when you are new, what works can can change quickly. But now that I have found my zone, I am not eager to empty my wallet on the next new plastic. I am, how ever, going to invest in a retriever so I might avoid buying my favorite plastic again.

I have always tried to throw the newest stuff released. Thrown a ton of different discs and learned a lot about them. Now tend to gravitate towards a few different companies but never ignore new molds and always looking for that "one".. its DG!

I used to throw the Cyclone... now I'm throwing Nukes and Bosses. Huge distance increase. That being said, I'm happy enough with my bag right now that I can't see myself changing it up in the forseeable future.

The group I play with has a, sort of, community box of discs. Found discs, stuff u don't like, it all goes in the box . You can trade, take, or add to the collection. And newb get loaners, or freebies if they start to play. My current favorite driver came from the "box". Blizzard wraith that was too flippy for someone else.

My farthest flying disc is the katana. The teebird goes far also, but we like it when we can throw faster than the speed of light, rather than waiting for a balloon to float across the field.

I have a specific set of discs that aren't going anywhere. I also have multiple little bags that I use when I just want a quick round. Those bags are the ones I fill with all of my latest and greatest ones I buy. Who can resist a fancy disc when it's only twenty bucks. Anything dx is just a waste of money.

that the katana is the furthest flying disc but doesn't hold the distance record and the teebird floats like a balloon.

No, offense was meant to you personally.

A dx driver is only good for about a dozen trees. After that, it no longer flies like it was designed to fly. Then you have to go back and buy another ten dollar disc. For the price of two dx discs you can have the same disc, BUT it will last a whole season or longer.
