[Axiom] Axiom Envy

aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I've been hoping to see that every time I check this thread.

Hopefully we also see a soft n ion too.

I know MikeC has some soft envies already; has he said how they compare to soft Proton or even the softer Neutrons that have been coming out lately?

Yes! I've never had the pleasure of fondling Soft Neutron, so I can't wait to try this out.

Well they have the Mike C official endorsement, so I'll try one
I don't actually putt with Envies, though, so I don't know if it will totally make the bag, but might be great for hit and stick drives off the tee.

And I've wanted to try soft Neutron for a long time!

I can't speak about these new sorts, but I have one soft N Ion. It's pretty awesome. Better grip and release than my soft P ions. It also seems indestructible. The only reason I don't use it more is that it's max weight.

I had the chance to feel his up. They're a bit softer than soft P...definitely softer than the softest regular N out there.

It'll be the grippiest MVP plastic on the market. They just feel so:

I didn't throw them, but putted a few on the practice basket...I'd say they glide better than soft P, which I putt with (Anode)...but that could just be the mold/weight (he'll surely comment here, but iirc his for putting are @ 165 or so.)

Freaking excited about this one. I didn't grab a soft neutron Ion when the came out in limited quantities. I'm glad this will be a standard production run. That's good, because I'll want more of em' down the road.

Why would anyone hoard these? I've been using these forums for years and I still don't get why people stockpile discs or "buy a stack" anytime a new discs come out.

I mean, are you guys really wearing out your Envies or something? The first batch of Neutron I'll admit weren't as durable as most MVP N but most of it was cosmetic. I was super critical of them but I realize I was being blinded by some gouging....since they still fly almost the same now as they did then, just with a little less fade!

I guess it's not any of my business what someone spends their money on, it just seems odd. Especially these soft N Envies because one has has to believe these will be super durable and last for years upon years.

it comes from experience buying other companies' plastic. if this were innova you'd have the first run, then the tweaked run, and then a medley of inconsistent **** thereafter. so in that case you would want to have a handful of backups because you probably wont find something that flies the same ever again.

If it's going to be your putting putter, then buying a stack is what you should do. And many players are used to other manufacturers' inconsistencies. For example, if you find a Wizard you like, you buy a stack because you may not find the exact same one again.

But the real reason is that having mountains of discs is just plain fun. :D

Edit, Nolan beat me to it.

Absolutely. I just get one for the bag and a backup, normally. If that's my putting putter. I'll get 3 more for putting practice. Pretty much it. Maybe one of each unique limited releases, to pretty much just to sit on for a few years and sell it. I don't like holding onto discs I'm not throwing. Love the excitement of release day. It gets the best of me sometimes, though.

Grats on the design inscho! Looks really sweet. I don't bag a Clash but that ALMOST makes me wanna get one :D

normally I understand disc hoarding but I play three to four times per week and have had the same ion for three years or so.

I was saying that because a few people have been wanting these badly and I figure they may stock up in case they don't continually produce softs

All fair points, guys.

MVP/Axiom is pretty much tops in the way of consistency and I bet these will popular so I guess I didn't see the need for stockpiling. But I also don't putt with the Envy, I just use it for driving and long upshots.

If anyone is putting the Softs I'd reccomend going a few grams lighter than you normally putt with. My 165's hold straight longer on a putt than my 175's, but never turn.
