Complaining About Facebook Auctions MEGATHREAD!!!

I've recently sold on Dollar Disc Golf Auctions. Made less than what I've made here in the past. I think it depends on what you're selling. There are a few discs I'll only sell on eBay because people pay so much more there, and I think I'll probably start taking those discs to DDGA. But, I'll still buy and sell the majority of my stuff here.

It is a risk. We have had people refuse to sell because the price was too low. But some have made out very well. I was just minutes from selling a CFR MF firebird for $10 and it shot up to 20.

The site makes no sense. Not searchable, waaaaay too much going on to scroll through discs forever. and why the heck don't the just set the minimum start price to $3 (shipping cost) so people don't lose money selling discs?

Its not a website, its a facebook group. :|
You cant search because facebook doesnt give the option. :|
Its called dollar disc golf auction not three dollar disc golf auction. :|

It's a great resource to both buy and sell. I've only had one bad auction that didn't hit it's target and that was more my fault as I didn't bump it as I was out of town and lost out, but everything else I have sold I got what I wanted and in some cases allot more. I quit buying the CE, First Run stuff along time ago as I hate having the pucker factor if I shank a frisbee. I think Glo CFR teebirds are even better and grippier than KC Pro's also, and it's nice to be able to get them for pretty cheap after a tourney is over with! :)

It is searchable. See below...

Facebooks ruining disc prices?

I know and I dont blame people...go to where the money is. If people will pay it why not take advantage, but its frustrating. I see people try and charge retail+ for used discs on there and people pay it. The real frustration is discs that are even slightly collectible.

I remember when I first started playing, granted I didn't pay nearly as much attention to OOP stuff then, but it seemed that CE was what brought the money. Most other stuff, which commanded a bit of a premium could be had for a reasonable price. Maybe its an illusion and maybe its been like this for a while but it doesn't seem like it. Now it seems like anything OOP is bringing CE + prices. Pre Barry Leos, 40+, KC pro, same, JK valks..same...etc etc.

Im not talking 10/10 stuff here, I can understand high prices for that. Im talking even throwers. I see inked up thrower dark colored crap going on FB for 25+ regularly. Don't even get my started on Prodigy......

So what do you think ? Do you see the same thing? Do you think it will normalize eventually or is this the way it is from here on out and the oop thrower market is dead for a guy that just wants reasonably priced decent stuff to throw.....

Its not just OOP and CE. Was looking thru one of the sites yesterday and some guy was asking retail for stuff I can go to the store or order online for myself and not have to worry about getting ripped off. The bad part is people were buying.

what facebook page are you on?

what facebook page are you on?

All the auction pages are like that. It's not every disc but some go for stupid money, and there's not even anything super special about them. There's no exposing fraudulent claims about discs either. The seller can alert a mod, and you get banned. It's seriously like they're encouraging the scams.

The number of disc golfers has been increasing steadily 10-15 percent every year. With only so many OOP Discs their demand is growing and prices rising. I think we will continue to see prices go up on the LE and OOP discs in demand.

So to answer your question, yes the market is dead if you want reasonable pricing. Im hoping Innova runs everything in Jolly and flatter from now on. Hopefully tune their Star to make it Gummier as well. With Prodigy and Lat/West/DD all making superior plastic, Innova is getting left behind.

Better question is Facebook ruining America?

:hfive:

Thought the same thing. I'm allegedly part of the Social Media generation but I despise Facebook. Unfortunately I do have an account so I can keep up with some stuff.

what facebook page are you on?

https://www.facebook.com/groups/dollardiscgolfauctions/

This is the biggest "group" on facebook where you can buy & sell discs. Just ask to join & they will automatically accept you (don't even know why they have that obstacle). I joined & I agree that people buy discs for way more than they are worth. If you want to make $ I'd suggest selling discs on there.

Yeah I see it all the time.

what facebook page are you on?

A few, Dollar disc auctions, disc golf collectors, the prodigy page...etc

Greed is ruining disc prices.

Can't blame people for taking advantage.....you know what PT Barnum said.....

Where is this? I have some talons I'd like to get 40 per out of :|

Are they OOP? Throw them on the collector exchange or dollar disc auctions...you'll probably get something decent for em.....
