Who steals a basket?! I mean really!

I know a course or two with GPS sensors in baskets. Some richer park systems have put them in it for that very reason.

Whahuh??? no more CoJoe's? I used to work there during my time as PC hippy! The raven? Is that the new version of the Bird Cage? Drunk Ted Nugent at the Bird Cage was always enough to scare me away! I hope that is still there! Really wish i was in AZ right now instead of frozen wasteland Northeast!!! I need to get back to the biscuit sometime soon! Good luck finding the basket!

The old Bird Cage of course burnt down a couple years ago(?). They reopened a couple of doors down as the Bird Cage, same owners, same taste in music, but no stuffed dead animals. The Raven is owned by a Prescott college alumni, serves overpriced beer and wine and has a piano you aren't allowed to play, but if there are attractive people in Prescott(an arguable point) you'll find them here. Scotty's(used to be Sundances and before that That Boiler Room) is the poor mans' Bird Cage where Ted Nugent is still alive in the psyche of Prescott if not in body.

I had one stolen out of my yard 2 years ago. More recently, we had 4 baskets stolen from Little Egypt DGC in Conroe. Parks dept decided to pull the rest and now we are down a course. Thanks a-holes.

Sundances! that used to be Prescottt's unofficial gay bar... Must be a totally different scene there now... Ha, the bartender there used to always pinch my ass, Darcy or something like that? She was the only straight thing in that place!

ham lake in mn had their back 9 pulled cuz of people stealing them, breaking them and other stupid ****. luckily there were some advocates to the city saying that its not disc golfers doing this, but teenage ****heads that are ruining it for everyone and giving the disc golfers a bad name. its just an easy secluded hang out spot that brings in the bad crowd to hang around there.

anyways this thread is a giant circle jerk. cant believe i am adding to it. people arent stealing metal baskets and scraping them for drug money. learn how the real world works. there is far easier and more worthwhile stuff to steal with a higher turn around rate. this would take too long and too much work for not enough money.

Yes and no. The most recent basket theft at one of my local courses was committed by a desperate person with a drug problem. The lock had previously broken and it was the closest basket to the parking lot, so I assume the theft was of opportunity. They were not able to turn it over though and luckily someone who know someone in the DG community spotted it in their yard, and the basket was recovered.

Anecdotal yes, but it motivated me to replace all the other bad locks on my home course.

Anyone caught stealing a basket deserves death by a thousand Bosses. Whats the scrap metal worth? 20 bucks? Damn Methheads.

Every time we get one of these stories, someone makes this claim. Very doubtful unless miles of chain link fence are also disappearing. A basket is worth about $20 max at a scrapyard. They are worth way more as baskets.

Actually scrap steal is only worth about $40 a ton right now. I also doubt that tweakers are taking such a big risk for a couple bucks. My guess is they're going in backyards. Either way its lame.

That's nothing compared to the douche bags that are starting to draw chargers all over the tee pads now and light up the baskets and tee signs with dumb stickers. Those people should be spanked publicly by someone's insanely strict parents, because obviously their own parents are crap.

This is why we can't have nice things. I guess I'll start adding sockets to the tee pad so everyone can put their own chargers to it. I know not everyone has the same disc.

Now this is the kind of out there post that I like reading. Wow guy. Wow.

Thanks.. :) I was going for intensely opposing, yet reluctantly conforming. I'm glad you liked it.

What about the deranged neighbor lady that is waging war on one course? That sounds like a story you could have a couple of beers over.

There's enough stories of stolen baskets on here for me to believe there must exist someplace a 'pirate' course, if you will, consisting of nothing but stolen baskets, broken dreams, and yes… crystal meth.

Respectfully disagree. Spend a day at a scrap yard in a big city and check out what gets brought in.

On a related note, when I worked at a carry out, many times people came in with collectible coins and spent them at face value for tobacco and alcohol. I'd hold the cons until the owners from whom they were stolen showed up.

When you gotta have a drink/smoke/fix, you gotta have it.

That stupid disc charger crap is starting to spread in Charlotte. I swear if I see someone doing that, they'll get a knee to the face.
