Salient HELIX Bag

Anyone else think this is odd: "bag must be sent with the original box" ?

Throwing "no questions asked" in front of a warranty doesn't negate the fact that you put the onus on the consumer if you guys screwed up by charging them shipping.

I am torn on that. I get why they make the customer pay it. but at the same time I think it sucks. it does help prevent abuse tho.

Scott-

Is the "1000D inside and out" unique compared to other models currently on the market and how does this bag differ from the catalyst? Whole new process or just design?

# of discs + stuff does it hold/possible pricing?

Hi Aim,
The bag is made from 1000D but it also lined with 1000D. Some bags a not lined at all and some bags have a liner made out of a lesser material.

We have a completely different manufacturer building the Helix than the company that built the Catalyst. I can tell you from my sample the difference is night and day between the two.

As far as the amount of discs that can vary a lot depending on what you carry. When I first loaded mine up i had 1 putter in the main, 11 mids, and 13 drivers. In the go get it slot I had 4 putters. In total if you used all the space for discs or the least amount of space you would be looking between 24-35 as I said that all depends how much space you use and what you carry.

As far as the price goes it will be $185 shipped when preordered and $215 shipped after preorder. We are expecting a smaller shipment of bags by air to get here before AM Worlds on July 19th. The rest of the bags we are expecting at the end of July.

Hopefully that answers some of the questions you had AIM.

You guys know how the #1 company in DG operates?

Why require having the original packaging? What purpose does that serve? I don't save packaging from anything that I buy.

most likely to prove you are the owner. although if its transferrable, I dont get that. so if I sell the bag, I have to give the guy the box too? that seems like it just cuts down on warranty claims.

but you already had to include the signed warranty card which would prove you are the owner. I don't know why you'd need the original box either unless it's just being used as a clause to get out of honoring the warranty of it.

Good question. I always found that to be an odd practice but my dad was crazy about keeping original boxes for that reason.

Biggest reason for the original packaging is someone could stuff the bag in a really small box to save on shipping. This would damage the internal frame making it harder for us to figure why a bag has failed if it's gets damaged in a small box. Also all of the warranty info will be on the warranty card. We will also be making an adjustment to include that you must send the bag back in the original box or a box larger than the original box.

How do the top bag makers handle the warranty shipping? Does Grip even make you send it in? I really have no idea, so this is a serious question.

that makes sense. so I can use any box. as long as its bigger than the original.

good thinking

I was curious about this too.. went to a couple sites from DD to Grip but really the info isn't clear on that part just says limited warranty other than what I found with Innova's pro shop

It's a tough call, but I feel like if a brand stood behind their product and had solid planning and funding in place, they should be able to cover shipping. If the product is made well, you won't have enough returns on it to be a worry.

Now if it's a non-warranty return, like it fit wrong or you decided you didn't like the color, then I can see the customer paying.

but thats not the way it works. most companies make you pay the shipping.

I had a tablet fail on me. I had to package it, and ship it. they fixed it and shipped it back. thats the norm.

Payiing for return shipping seems normal to me as well. Some company pay both ways, some don't. Some charge a % for restocking fees, some don't. I don't see a problem with any of that, as long as it's clear upfront, like it is now.

I had an issue with my Ergo 2 and a new bag was sent to me and then I sent the old bag back. I did not pay any shipping. I would have gladly paid shipping one way though. The way mine was handled seems to open the company up to never getting the original back, so I would understand not handling it the way Big Hyzer did.

Typically with products that offer a lifetime warranty from manufacturer defect (their fault) you can get an RA paid shipping label sent to you for return. Places that make you pay for shipping either way, on your dime, are simply not fully backing their product in my eyes. It's not unheard of obviously but when you are dealing with almost two hundred bucks, are trying to rebuild your reputation as a good company without faulty products, I think it makes sense to go to the extra effort so that customers who may receive faulty bags aren't out of pocket any more money to get what they should of with their original investment. Bags aren't cheap to ship. I personally won't buy any lifetime warranty product if I'm expected to pay shipping to get what I originally paid for. That's just me though maybe. I don't deal with companies in the gun or computer industry who expect the customer to handle shipping costs either or both ways.
