I'm sure I'll catch some flak for asking this, but let me explain - Have you ever heard of hillbilly horseshoes? (Theres a lot of different names for it). It's basically where you stake two 7ft ofc poles into the ground about 30 or so feet apart, place empty beer bottles on each pole, and there is a team of two behind each pole trying to knock the bottle off with an ultimate disc. Other rules apply, but basically I always try to use my typical fan grip for a finesse shot and it just doesn't feel right.

I understand it's a long shot, but does anyone have experience with any ultimate disc that is close to a disc golf disc of any kind? Thanks!

Frizbeer! Frickets! Cups! All names I've heard for the splendid game you're describing.

We've always used Ultrastars or Guts discs. Ultrastars are usual easier for non-frisbee freaks like us. You could always use a set of putters, but that could get painful trying to catch the deflections or if you don't get out of the way of a miss.

Are you looking for a golf disc that flies like an Ultimate disc or the other way around? For Ultimate, there is really only one main disc which is the UltraStar. There a couple of other discs made for Ultimate like the Pulsar but they are usually looked down on in Ultimate circles (I'm a former Ultimate player). Either way, the non-UltraStar Ultimate discs don't fly a lot different than an UltraStar.

I have found that the Rattler feels like a condensed UltraStar so that's an option if you are looking for a golf disc.

No just looking for an ultimate disc that FEELS somewhat like a disc golf disc, figured it was a long shot. But thank you, might just have to snag an ultrastar then and call it good enough. I'm not sure if I can convince my buddies to play with a judge lol

Huzzah. I own ski poles with modified bottle holder tops. And an ultimate disc. They live in my front hall. With two bottle koozies (they prevent broken bottles).
Second best disc game there is.

To me the lightning Rubber Putter feels just like a small ultimate disc, diffinately worth a shot.

I personally do a bit better with the new version of the Innova Pulsar... it's a little more stable than the ultrastar.

look for a disc called the skystreak, it is pdga approved, but looks just like an ultimate disc. I think its made by discraft but I could be wrong.

Wait, this is called "hillbilly horseshoes"?

Seems redundant.

Actually, making fun of a niche sport, that features people throwing flat objects at a target. One with a reputation for being enjoyed by the "party" crowd, aspires to garner national attention, has throngs of serious tournament players and can be played by all skill levels....on a disc golf sight, might be considered redundant. :\

In our area we call this wonderful game "beer on a stick". We also generally have a full unopened beer on the stick. It tends to fall a little faster making it more difficult to catch.

We play this game with red solo cups and an ultrastar. 1 point if you make the cup fall and 3 if you go through the poles clean. If the opposing team catches the cups or the frisbee then no points are gained. Must play this game 1 handed with a drink in your non throwing/non catching hand. We call it wang. I have no idea why.

You might like the Innova Super hero. It is a great toss and catch disc.
