[MVP] Atom

I got lucky when I ordered my 2 Proxies. One is like 167, and flies about 0/.15. The other is max wt, and for some reason it flies more like -.15/0. That one, plus a beat to crap N Envy (flies almost exactly like this newish max wt Proxy) and a max wt soft Envy (a hair less glidey and more OS for me than a firm) cover my driving putter shots like a mother.

The idea of beating an Atom into a more US putter is appealing on paper, but the way my throw works, it's just easier for those type shots to anny the blue Proxy, or else power down a Theory a little in a few cases.

Oops, I meant to say that my beat Envy flies like the 167 (ever so slightly OS) Proxy, not the max wt one.

You know the Atom is more stable than the Proxy when several here are talking about beating a baseline Electron Atom in to fly like a premium Neutron Proxy is out of the box. End of story. Geez!

Decided to give up on these. Gave both of mine to a friend. I just did not putt that great with them, and while I loved them for approaches, they were basically the same as my Pures.

Well, the Atom does fade. But, I don't see the Atoms I've been driving some having the same HS stability the Proxy does. Of course, those firm Atoms have hit, well, the ground a couple of times, so are beat the hell up. The two I was using as possible throwers both turn more than the "turnier" Proxy I have.

I wasn't talking about beating an Atom into a Proxy, anyway. I was talking about beating one into an actual US putter. Which I personally just don't really need.

I'm going the opposite way. I've been practice putting with firms a crap-ton, trying to get used to them before upcoming tourney's during the 'sweat season.' I don't like them as much as Anodes, but the plastic is tough to beat with damp hands.

Yeah I'm not sure who he's talking about, or why it matters to him in the first place. The Atom and Proxy are pretty close, who cares if the last 5% of their flight differs a bit? The different plastics are going to affect things more than which one has a teeny, tiny fade when new and which one doesn't.

Mike C. -- thanks for info on your insights into driving putters and putting putters.

I won't disagree with this. It's a silly argument anyway. The baseline putter should be less stable and have better glide than the premium one, assuming they are the same putter, which is now being claimed it seems.

Come on, man. Look at your own videos of the Proxy and Atom. Just say you like the Atom better, instead of saying it's so close and could possibly beat into a better Proxy. When they come out with the Electron Proxy are you going to drop the Atom and be singing the Proxy's praises again? Then Plasma Atom and rinse and repeat? Hyping the flavor of the month MVP, you and AIM.

Really? I'm hyping the flavor of the month by talking about how I'm putting with MVP's oldest disc?

I never said the Atom was better than the Proxy, just that I bagged it for a few specific reasons, e.g. beating it into an understable disc. I'm not trying to beat the Atom into a "better proxy," I'm trying to beat it into something the Proxy isn't; an understable putter driver.

I don't even bag the Proxy. So, I don't give a rat's a$$. I just hate to see all this hype to not only buy every single MVP and Axiom mold out there, but to progress through every different plastic within each mold. Nah, you don't do any of that, right?

So, what's the most awesome MVP disc going to be next month, according to you?

I'm not sure why you're so offended that I test, review and discuss the discs I receive as part of a test team.

When is the last time you heard me hype the switch, impulse, theory, anode, tangent, amp, shock, alias, tensor, servo, clash, etc? I haven't even mentioned anything about the Plasma Anodes or Amps that I've been testing. I use what I like, and I like to talk about why I like it with fellow disc golf nerds on here.

If that's not what you want to read, maybe a disc golf forum isn't the best place for you. That, or utilize the filter feature they were kind enough to implement.

My name is MikeC too :D so let me just chime in and say they bomb in a tailwind and make a great complement to the volt as when released. These seem like what an AMP should be from day 1. Some were a little more stable or US but these plasmas tell me the brothers have this mold dialed in.

I'd agree.

If you watch this, there were issues with the first run of amps. Some were extra beefy, some were quite US. I actually received a little flack for posting this video before asking MVP why the discs were so different, which is ironic considering the recent turn this thread has taken.

This next video is indicative of every Amp I've thrown since I received my second batch of them. The Plasmas fly just like this one for me.

I filmed so field throws with them, Fireballs, Proton Wrath, 156g Atom and a few others. I'll try to pull away from ASoIaF long enough to edit the few Amp throws together for a short test video.

tonight I was throwing the photons in a baseball field adjacent to the last hole of a DG course with some nice tailwind seeing where I could get the photons out to and somehow one of the of 166g plasma amps hooked up just perfectly in that tailwind and rode it out wayyy over the fence next to #18's basket about 475' out. I was having a hard time dialing in the faster discs tonight but that amp was like a beat up plasma or FR volt and just had a TON of glide before it faded out flat. Was pretty crazy to watch and feel considering I haven't thrown an amp in probably a year+ Like a mini insanity really.

I'm going to admit that I will be doing a lot of Crow eating on the Atom :gross:

Whoa is this a great mold...

Teaming up the Atom with my Soft Envy seems almost unfair for a long flying putter contest. I used to be a midrange junkie but at this point I find myself throwing them much less frequently now that I have that neutral maneuverability of the Atom to pair with my stubborn HSS Envy.

I have also found that I really like putting with the Atom as well. Once it seasons it, they seem to lose that harsh late fade that they have when fresh in the circle.

Anybody putting with the Proxy?
I have been nailing putts with it but I hate neutron plastic if there's even a hint of moisture or rain...

I had a good game with my atom than switched to pa1's for some reason for a month.. Way more stable obviously, and now switched back to the Atoms. I think. It was like when batters swing two bats to warm up... So I'm used to putting a pa1 so when I putt this thing I kinda just toss it in no effort haha its really nice, especially on long putts. I should just stick with the atom. Until the ion comes out in electron lol damnit
