American Disc Golf Tour

Whew, anybody read their "rule book"? Seems to require having read the PDGA rules of play to understand how to apply a lot of them.

Their OB rule (#13), for example, states that if you are OB you mark your next lie as outlined in rule #8. However rule 8 describes how to mark a lie when one is inbounds and within one meter of an OB line. There's nothing about how you determine where along the OB line you would mark a lie for an OB disc. Oh, and you absolutely cannot play from your previous lie if you are OB. No idea why one would think that an option since it isn't offered in this rule book, but you can't do it.

And if you think you might not find the disc you've just thrown, you can throw a provisional. No explanation of what a provisional is, but you can only do it if you think your disc might be lost.

Clown show. That's all I can gather from their site...it's a clown show.

Just looked through the website and saw that their 3 fundraiser discs were all Salient. From the feedback I've seen, anything associated with Salient should be "GREAT!!!"...............

All they need to do now is have Hucker Magazine be the media liaison to ESPN.

Idk that there even gotten 30 people to any of there local " salient series" events. Idk how they could plan to run a tour. I just hope that the first run on ESPN isn't a complete dud. Salient hasn't shown much in the past to keep me very optimistic about its chances of success.

Player refunds are at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director.

So, if you call me on a foot fault, I could just say that I didn't foot fault and it wouldn't be enforced?

Even better is the putting foot fault rule. Any shot inside 50' you must keep you foot behind your lie until the disc is released. Says nothing about maintaining balance. Jump putts from 15'...why would I not???

If your under 18 you can play in Senior 3, age 60+

"Juniors may play in any higher age division."

Seems weird. Plus the dude in the promo defiantly isn't espn worthy. You'd think that they could get someone better to film. We'll see though.

See below...

Whois search shows the domain is registered to a Hillary Kilgus of Columbia, South Carolina. Not a PDGA member that I can find, but apparently married to one.

The owner of salient discs created or is at least an admin of the facebook page

The Salient Tour.

Feels like the XFL, and likely destined for the same fate.

SLANDEROUS! LIBELOUS! INCESTUOUS! I WILL SEE YOU IN COURT, I SAY GOOD DAY SIR!

Infinite distance behind your mini for your stance, as long as you're not one mini-width to either side?
The only difference between a putting stance and a regular stance is that you're not allowed a mini-width to either side during a putt?

And you get dq'd if your more then 15 mins getting your card in. So dont shoot better then your cardmates or maybe that card goes missing for 16 mins...

Or your the furthest hole away. Better run your ass back.

Even so, who and how do they expect to enforce that rule?

In the definitions for each division..."Professional players are typically paid in cash." Typically? As in, the door is open to pay them in some other way? Hmmm.

Some of the rules read like they're lifted right out of one of the myriad "non-rule" rules thread...players are limited to carrying a maximum of 30 discs, cannot add discs during the round, and are not allowed to throw a competitor's disc. At least now I know what to tell people that quote those non-rules at me during a tournament: "this isn't an ADGT event".

Also love the way the rules switch back and forth between calling it a "one throw penalty" and a "one stroke penalty". Wonder if there's intended to be a difference between the two?

Obstacles to a stance: An obstacle that is behind the player's mini-marker or extends behind the mini-marker may be moved as long as the object is not attached to a tree.

Make sure you bring a crane with you to move those 10 ton pesky rocks behind your lie.

Or can you imagine what patrick brown or ken climo is going to move?

Wonder why the women's divisions have a different age designation than the men's?

Professional 1 (P1): All players under the age of 40 at the start date of the tournament are eligible to play in this division. Seniors of higher ages may play in this division. Professional players are typically paid in cash.
Professional 2 (P2): All players between 40 and 54 at the start date of the tournament are eligible to play in this division. Seniors of higher ages may play in this division. Professional players are typically paid in cash.
Professional 3 (P3): Eligible players must be age 55 or older as of the start date of the tournament. Professional players are typically paid in cash.
Women's Professional 1 (WP1): Women under the age of 45 at the start date of the tournament are eligible to play in this division. Senior women of higher ages may play in this division. Professional players are typically paid in cash.
Women's Professional 2 (WP2): Eligible women must be age 45 or older as of the start date of the tournament. Professional players are typically paid in cash.

Many of you seem pretty negative. I am unfamiliar with Salient. What is their history?

I was kind of hoping this wasn't true....saw it was here in SC and out of Columbia and was hoping it wasn't Salient.

When I get some downtime at work tonight I'm totally going to spam ESPN emails and see if I can get a confirm/deny about their involvement. I'd bet anything they are not involved, and it would be hilarious is we could get a cease and desist out of this. Whos with me?

Their list of "qualified players", makes it look like they've got so many big names attending this....

But do they have a list of players who've actually payed in and are members/playing in the open?
