Yet, McBeth is refreshingly candid about his fellow competitors. "The one I don't like the most is Will," he says of rival Will Schusterick, another top-ranked pro.
"If it's close, you can pretty much count him out," McBeth says of Ricky Wysocki, another frequent challenger.

"My game is good in all aspects," McBeth says. "I'm probably the top putter, and top five in all other categories."

I've never heard Paul like this. Just wow.

I wonder if that was the exact wording he gave, in regards to Will.

haha I just started a thread about this right behind you. should have known I'd be second to the punch.

Perhaps a WWE tactic to create rivalries and potentially generate more spectators down the road?

Me too. It's very interesting. He's said similar stuff before but never as in your face I guess.

*I just noticed your location Bender, LOLZ

^ You're kidding right? There has been an ongoing thread with conspiracy theories from some of DGCR's "finest" on that subject for awhile now.

Horribly written article. I wish those call-outs were really as harsh as they came across but I doubt it.

"Times columnist Chris Erskine throws a disk while being coached by four-time consecutive world champion disk golfer Paul McBeth on Feb. 2. (Allen J. Schaben / Los Angeles Times)"

Was it a 5.25" floppy disk (way understable) or a 3.5"?

Seems like editing to fit an agenda, or try to spruce up the article. Bad, choppy, middle school quality editing.

The question is whether the quote meant Paul didn't like Will from a competitive standpoint if they were close near the end of a battle or if he really meant personally didn't like him. You would think it's the former when you see the context pertaining to the Ricky comment right after it.

Seems like a typical article for modern day journalism. A lot of partial truths sprinkled here and there. Lacking in depth, assuming the reader's going to lose attention quickly. But it really is something if we're into 'growing the sport'. I'm happy for Paul having the first major sponsorship, and was intrigued to see a dollar figure on it (even if it's a multi-year contract - say, 10 years at $50k per, that would give him the freedom to continue approaching his avocation as a job and career, and they benefit from having the best in the world during his prime).

Paul can't hate Will. They are my two favorites and they seemed like such nice guys when I met them. This doesn't seem like the Paul mcbeth I know. This article is horrible. They completely butchered what the sport is really about, and made it into the money making deal of the century.

My guess is Innova...

Paul has never spoken about how much money he is sponsored for from Innova, or any of his sponsors that I am aware of. He most of all doesn't want to piss off Innova by saying how much they give him. I think the reporter just made a number up that sounded right, but is way off. He certainly seems to have done that with a good amount of the rest of the article, especially comments supposedly made by McBeth but aren't typical of him.

That's a lot of money from a Disc Sponsor. I am wondering if the article is referencing his combined deals with all sponsors.

Stretched over multiple years, it really isn't out of the question. Think about it, he turned down a Grip deal worth 5 figures, to carry an Innova bag.
