Paul McBeth goes to discraft.

I beg to differ with you, "I didn't want to start negotiating" , "I didn't want to go down another road". Call it what you will..I take it as he had absolutely zero interest in even hearing an offer from DD, especially after stating DD "had money to spend".

This suggests to me that Paul's acceptance of Discraft's offer was at least partially because he's getting that new line of discs. They all were throwing money at him, but Discraft had the extra that Paiul wanted to hear to seal the deal...

I really didn't take it that way. McBeth has said in interviews that he and Rusco are friends, so it makes more sense that he pretty quickly knew DD didn't have the numbers to match the Discraft offer and he didn't want to get into a negotiation with a friend when he knew he was going to turn him down. How McBeth tries to explain that in an interview without blurting out "DD didn't have nearly enough cash" might leave the door open for some speculating, but I'm pretty sure if Rusco had come to McBeth with numbers in the ballpark of the Discraft deal, McBeth would have listened.

you lost all your credibility in the 'pros switching' and 'mcbeth stays with innova' threads

I think you're looking for reasons to hate this move.

Credibility... lol... actually.. as far as the "move" goes, I couldn't be happier for Paul, but at the same time I hope ALL of the elite players finally are able to get good stable sponsorships that include a good base salary.

I agree, in the interview Paul says that's not in stone yet, they are still working on it. It will still be interesting to see if they are Discraft branded or something mcelse.

All along...I kept thinking if ANYONE could match or beat ANY offer, it would be DD. But again..I didn't get the feeling Paul wanted to proceed with DD, others perceive it differently.

I don't think your assumption about DD's money pockets is based on anything other than your own speculation.

I don't really have a feeling one way or the other about what McBeth wanted, but it really makes no sense for DD to have had the resources to match or beat the Discraft deal and McBeth deciding not to talk to them. McBeth was looking to make a deal. He is friends with the owner of DD. He used to be sponsored by DD before they started their own disc line. He probably would have a higher comfort level with DD than with Discraft because of that. There is nothing that makes me think that McBeth would say "Dynamic might have the money to give me a better deal, but I'm not going to find out."

What makes a lot more sense to me is that DD reached out to McBeth and in the course of that both sides realized that DD did not have the resources to get close to the deal McBeth was getting from Discraft. So a McBeth/DD deal was never explored because they both knew there was no reason to. That makes sense to me. The fact that Rusco confirmed that they couldn't match the offer makes that seem like the story to me.

I suspect that it has multiple reasons, money may be just one reason. Paul may not have known Ricky was leaving Lat, so he didn't want the "in-house" competition. Maybe he listened to Drew Gibson on how "flippy" their discs are.

Funny, I haven't notice Drew Gibson winning now that he doesn't have flippy discs. I think McBeth is a big boy and can make up his own mind about where to go. And if he had gone to a Trilogy company, he would still be the favorite at tournaments with his "flippy" discs.

yes, he didnt win any. But look at his finishes compared to his year or two with Trilogy

If you believe it is the discs, go buy a bunch of CE stuff and S/DS Destroyers and you will be the next world champ. Maybe he practiced harder. But I know that Ricky had no trouble winning with flippy discs. My point is, Paul McBeth did not go to Discraft for the discs they have or not go to Trilogy because the discs are too "flippy".

stats are stats

I wonder what price point the mcbeth discs will be? I think the MSRP will be around $25.

I doubt the MSRP gets that high. Select runs will get that expensive on the secondary/collector market, but the initial prices won't be very different from most other stock run discs.

Base/mid-grade (putters & mids) probably shipped for $8-14, premium material drivers for $14-18 would be my guess at the price points.

You pay Paul 250k a year for 4 years. Wouldn't Discraft would want Paul to throw their existing line for a while so they can maximize their investment before creating McMolds?
