[Compare] Anyone throw an overstable 7 speed?

I think it depends on the way the rest of your bag is set up. If you like the idea of one OS/Utility disc, I think it makes sense to use a speed 7, something that's easy to power down. If you bag a zone/harp type disc, having a speed 7 and speed 9 seems like overkill. I'm bagging firebirds and a harp, but I just rolled with a banshee for a long time .

My newer eagles are just as HSS as my firebirds ever were, but they have more of a forward fade at the end of the flight. I really like having both of those flat-to-hyzer lines in the bag, especially on certain tighter courses. Eagle also pushes through a nose-up sweeping line more reliably than the FB, which tends to just fall out.

Yeah I only need 2-3 overstable meathooks in my bag. 2 of which I would consider overstable but not meathooks. I use a zone/flare/force. Force and zone are quite workable, but the Flare easily fills that Firebird slot and maybe then some. It's completely unusable as a thrower but great as utility. I'm probably just like your average person and bag a stable disc like a Teebird or Teebird like disc as my speed 7 workhorse.

Slipped a XXX in bag. Not something I would have considered before but I kind of want to see how it performs on my thumbers compared to the disc I usually throw.

I was shuffling some stuff and needed one more disc to fill some space so I figured why not.

Want.

I had an Eagle in my bag for this, but I never threw it. I always either powered up a midrange like a Buzzz OS or Drone, or powered down something OS that was a 9-speed.

I would say in general, I've started pulling out most 7-speed discs, I just don't use them much. I've got a few that aren't in my bag to toss in the bag for a new course where I may have need for them, but on my home course I just don't really need them much.

There was a freak ledge stone run that was almost Tilt OS. Can't really find them anymore but they were beefy.

I've never thrown the Tilt, but from the videos, I'd say my +3 Tracker is just as OS ("flew" that way for me at least.)

The last Ledgestone Trackers are a good OS compliment to my Undertakers. Feels like an Undy/TL3 flies somewhere between an Eagle/Banshee. This years are true to the OG flight, but can still hold that 7/8 speed OS slot:

I threw a MF Teebird in the bag for a tournament this weekend and ended up using it a lot. Not super OS but enough to make sure my backhand fade lines we're doing what the needed to. It makes my glow TBs look downright flippy in comparison.

Not often I need something between Mortar/Gator and Draco/Firebird when I have good control of release angles and the airspace to throw.

I don't need to seek out a mold to fill every slot/distance on the OS side of the bag. Roc3 and TeeBird are just 1-2 step down in stability so I'll adjust the release angle of those to counter the ground play if that is a concern.

Manufacturers probably don't make many OS 7 speeds anymore because they don't sell well enough. Limited runs probably fill the demand better and sell out quicker.

My issue with the OS 7 speed is that for my money, a Firebird handles everything I want it to do, but better.

That being said tho, presently bagging a fresh max weight champ teeb, so there you go.

Banshee is pretty good though.

If they still made flat Champ Banshees I would. Now I bag a Runway and a Draco to fill that void.

I love the goldline Lat64 Spark for this.

I carry both the Spark and XXX, and they are always in the bag.The Spark is an os disc that I can shape lines with, whereas the XXX is more a utility disc. I carry a Bard as well, but it has a dumpy fade where the other two will catch an edge and skip well when I want the added ground action. I do own a faster and stupidly os disc, an Elasto Sampo, but it's only for very strong headwinds and spends most of its life in the trunk of my car.

OS 7 speeds are in my personal pantheon of slots that are fun to mess with yet never are essential to my game. I've tried my darndest to keep an F1 and an EXP-X in my bag at various points, my thought being that they cut through the air a little better than a Gator and are more shapeable than a Firebird, which is true, but I just never end up needing that shot, and when the situation comes up where I may, it's not like it's the ONLY disc that would work. And it doesn't seem to work the other way, I wouldn't feel comfortable shelving Firebirds and Gators and using an OS 7 speed for both slots, maybe if I developed my game around a disc like that early on I could have, but at this point I would feel like I'm trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. So for now it goes in the bag along with the other discs that are spectacular that I just can't fit in. Rhyno, MD4, Drift, EXP-X, Thunderbird, Ballista Pro, you are gone but never forgotten.

The closest I ever bagged to this slot was a Trident and that was one of the most comfortable discs I've ever thrown. Unfortunately those went OOP shortly after I started throwing them so I moved on to XXX for a while until going to speed 9s. It had probably been at least 2 years since I threw an OS 7 speed until I got a Banshee in the mail today as mystery disc from infinite. I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. The rim/profile on the disc has a very unique feel to it but I found it decently comfortable. After a couple throws I noticed the fade was more of a dump and didn't have a lot of skip so I started throwing it on long forehand approaches I wanted to fade but stick and it actually played this role quite well. It was very easy to dial in the distance with this thing. I don't know if I will keep it in my bag long term, but I really did enjoy throwing it today.

What plastic is your Banshee?
