Yes, PM's are now known as conversations. Look for the Envelope in the header.
A) I'm really glad that this is in the Header because it makes it so easy access this Key feature!

B) I still think that a bigger Inbox should be an extra benefit of paid membership because it was a very tangible and measurable benefit that immediately improved the DGCR experience. For us long time users a bigger Inbox actually became indispensible.

C) Thanks for pointing out the envelope and it's meaning. It is partly a generational thing, but visual picture icons don't work as well for me as words do. I wonder how many months it might have been for me to notice the envelope and then click it to see what it does. This was by no means self-apparent to me.

In a few months, after the dust settles more, maybe you could put together a guided tour of the key features like this. I've been working in IT project management, so I know that your potential To Do list is endless.

I get a lot of emails. When I turn the setting off in my profile and save it, it auto sets back to daily.
I don't want thread emails and I don't want daily report emails. Someone give me the secret here.

I need help on this too. The way I've stopped getting the emails is to 1) Unwatch threads, 2) unclick the option to automatically watch threads that where I contribute, 3) change my notification preferences to "alert" and NOT "push"

That seems to have quieted things down. I really like the alert function when I log on (the "bell") - but prior to making these changes, I was constantly getting email alerts on my phone. Which was in my pocket and turned on for PDGA scorekeeping on a two day tournament this weekend. So I was getting all these email pushes about disc golf while I was trying to PLAY disc golf!

I keep getting WAY too many DGCR notification emails too. I finally found out how to edit my preferences under the notification bell in the header. I hope this fixed it.

I only want to see notifications of New Activity in the bell in the header. I don't want to get any email notifications.

What do "Push" notifications do? I see this is one option on all notifications.

Click on the down arrow next to the avatar icon if you have an avatar, select preferences.

Disable any notification you do not wish.

Push notifications are ones that get pushed to your browser. Android users and iOS users will have the options of being notified in the future with this feature.

Yes you can, you can use the IMG bbcode, the CMD+P / CTRL P to do that. I like the drag-and-drop method, but if it's in your album that might not be available to you.
Got it, thanks. I used right click - copy image link. Alot more convenient than the old way.

I did not realize that larger inbox size used to be a benefit of Premium membership on the old site. My $0.02 is that sounds extremely archaic, and I would very strongly support keeping it as it is now. If there aren't enough benefits of Premium membership going forward, then we need to come up with new different ones.

I DO agree that excluding played courses from search should still be one of the Premium membership benefits.

I'm sure we will come up with additional benefits

DGCR Premium Membership benefits:

  • Upload pictures of your discs!
  • Limit your course browsing to only courses you HAVEN'T played
  • Get a detailed view of your course search results with shortcuts to the various tabs
  • See a detailed list of all the course changes for the past week using the Premium Change Log
  • See who voted on your reviews!
  • Access to the VIP Lounge
  • Have a snazzy icon by your username on the site and forums
All those great features and the satisfaction of helping the site stay up and running for the cost of just one bottle of pop (or soda or "coke"!) per month! All you have to do is select a plan, choose a payment method, and click the "Order" button to get started!

If you are interested in subscribing to the Premium Membership and it's benefits, you may do so by going here https://www.dgcoursereview.com/account/upgrades

Firefox on my PC is janky like someone posted about in another thread. Load times are unbearable and formatting is off - it was fine 2 days ago when I logged on.

Any other site instantly loads per usual.

EDIT: looks like it doesn't enjoy my VPN

VPNs and such can block JS - and the firewall tools we use to protect the data here might not always play nicely.

When I navigate to the "Courses" page, the view now defaults to the filtered results of my last course search. Even though that was yesterday and since then I have logged out and back in, etc.

Is that actually an intended feature vs. being a bug? I think I might be fine with it that way (allows me to pick up where I left off if I was doing some in-depth course research), but just wanted to post this in case it IS a bug.

viewing courses by state you could sort by rating. now if you do that, there is some minimum # of reviews auto-applied to that filter. so a state like wyo only gets 1 result if you sort by rating. we need a way to sort by rating that doesn't use minimum reviews

I stumbled upon this clicking on someone's profile. Can we make our profiles private (like IG) or was this a snafu?

@Dev was able to launch the homepage update as well. Waiting to hear thoughts on that.
Glad to see the home page update, definitely more of a home page. Are there plans to improve the esthetics of the site overall. The color scheme and the forumish look and feel just isn't doing it for me (I really liked the old looks and layouts). Just curious if this is the final look your trying to go for or just the kind of default while you get functionality worked out?

Sorry to hear that, this is the look we will be using from here on out as it's using a modern theming as we focus on the mobile first experience.
I've been using forums, specifically the vBulletin this site used for 20+ years, and this was the update from the same team that built that.

Just to add a point of clarification, I see the Website/App and the forum as two different things. This updated look for the forums doesn't bother me.
I expect this kind of look for a forum. The website on the other hand I hope for a bit more polish and showcase. Not sure how to put that in words but the old look had it. Maybe there is too much detailed info with each of the sub sections (don't need to see the users profile image). The layout is still a little weird. Not sure I need the My account section on the home page. I appreciate you are taking feedback and working to make changes. I'll try and stick with it as this was my go to site and course directory. And I'll try and provide feedback so it can improve.

I appreciate the My Account on the homepage; it's quicker to find my info, such as my list of courses played, for example.

I wouldn't mind seeing TWO columns of Recent Course Reviews on the homepage and replace the Recent Course Hole Tips. Reviews can disappear quickly off the home page if they're only five deep.

After using the home page for a few days: I think it is way better than the previous revision from a couple weeks ago. BUT I have a few more thoughts.
1. The biggest thing I miss is the top ten rated courses. I think that those should still have a place on the home page.
2. Like Cerealman said, I think that five recent reviews is too few. I think it should be ten.
3. I don't really like that the hole tips and tournaments columns are showing there so prominently. Mostly the reason why I don't like it is that those features aren't used very much. It looks like kp is the only one who has added a tip within the last month. The last time someone posted a tip on any of the ~190 courses I have played was October 2021.
4. I think it's kind of awkward that the list of new courses are displayed horizontally when everything else is displayed vertically.

So bringing those four points together, what if you:
a) Keep "Recent course reviews" column in the same place.
b) Move the "Recent course rounds" column to replace "Upcoming tournaments".
c) Move "Newest Disc Golf Courses" to a column that is located where the "Recent course rounds" column is currently.
d) Add a "Top Disc Golf Courses" column that replaces "Recent course hole tips".
e) Make all four of those columns have 10 entries.

I appreciate all the work on the home page, and elsewhere!
