[Latitude] River

Im hearing a lot of the lower 170s+ being more stable and mine is that way, but my 162 is my glide happy one that likes to turn. I got my 171 later on so Im wondering if its how they are being run or the weight.

Anyone get a lower to mid 160s one lately?

There is a big difference between my 176 and 162. Both have the potential to fly straight with tremendous glide, but the heaviers are more firgiving if you do not get a perfect release. If for whatever reason I sneak in a little OAT while trying to throw flat across the chest and for distance, the 162 is more likely to fly right on me than the 176. The heavier has a better chance of not going right and or fighting out of that right.

If I get a clean release they both can fly straight from start to finish and you could not tell the difference between heavy and light.

I got an Opto River at 170 and quite frankly had no idea what I was supposed to do with this disc. I didn't know where it actually fit into my bag. I use beat Sidewinders for long anhyzers and new Sidewinders for straight and long drives. Throwing the River in the field made me realize just how long this disc can glide without fade, for me it skips forward, if anything, on the landing. Where as my new Sidewinders go a little further, they do have some left fade (RHBH) when it slows.

Basically what I have figured out...it is a good control and distance disc b/c of it's glide. My only disappointment is the color, it is clear yellow. I actually have almost left it behind several times when doing field work. It's just hard to spot. Maybe Zennie could put one of his awesome dyes on it to help me be able to find it!!! :)

After reading this entire thread....I just ordered a 170 opto river. Really need to sell some shiz heh...plastic buying gettin outta control.

My first one was yellow and yes, its hard to see at times. 2nd one I got was Pink and stands out but I still cant help but throw that Yellow one, since its my lighter "let it glide for days" one.

I actually prefer the Gold Line ones, but I know what you are saying about leaving them behind. That is how I find my yellow Opto River, someone had left it sitting in the rough about 20 feet from the fairway. It was left in an obvious place on a path. No name or number, so it is mine now.

Definitely need to get a dye on it! Ya'll have me worried now! It's a great disc, effortless distance, you will like it Oatz!! It's one disc you can almost immediately put into your starting line-up!

Can't wait........yeah my buddy has one and is swearing by it. GLIDETASTIC

I've been using my somewhat beatup GL River as a hyzer flip disc recently. It's working really well in that role.

I let a guy throw my 170 Opto's in Nashville on Thursday. He cranked out an effortless drive about 375' long. He turned around and looked at me and said, 'Holy ****, I'll give you a $1000 for that disc.'

That is what happens when you introduce magic Swedish plastic with Elf infused glide to people that only throw Innova!

These GL rivers of mine keep getting better and better with age and use. I really hope the Flows break-in the same fashion.

Played a few rounds today and I got tired of looking for my light GL River which is yellow and tried to just go with my heavier more stable pink one and left the yellow in the car for the last round and boy was I sorry.

I dont think I can live without BOTH my Rivers now. I need to get another light one in another color.

Are they easy to turn and burn, meaning get them a bit too far over and they don't fade back at all? One of the reasons I like me seasoned Eagles is I can get the turnover, but there is a bit of safety fade back.

They are flatter winged, too, right? I've seen the comparison to a faster Leopard, I'm wondering are they alot like an Eagle-L?

Picture faster "Champ" Leopard or slower (yet maybe as long) control Valk. They can come back on a turnover if you want but can crash and burn if you put too much anny on them; especially the lighter ones.

The heavier ones are like a beat DX Teebird out of the box/envelope but with even better glide.

Yet still workable on lines?

Definitely workable. In fact it will be my only fairway disc once I get them broke in a bit more because the only line I haven been able to do is a turnover that doesn't come back a little. For now I have a Pro Leopard with it. If I had a little more power, which I think you do, it probably wouldn't be a problem at all. Seems to like to be turned over more than actually put an anny on it

Of course, I know You don't like different weight of the same mold but that gives you the full spectrum out of the river IMO

If anyone has a light River and wants a heavier one, I happen to have a heavy one and want a lighter one.

EDIT: I have a 174, want a 160-164

I just got one. 172 Opto. Reminds me of a really domey Eagle or Teebird, with out the wing notch and a slightly lower PHH.

Looking forward to a test flight. I would think that with the dome it will be very glidey, but that curved wing will cause it to fade back.

thinking of trying a river, but it is a long fairway driver? Shorter than a valk? So its farther than a teebird but still a fairway driver?
