Getting near the end. 28adv 23int 43rec and 29 women/seniors spots still open. If not for the added rec pool it would be all but filled right now. Don't forget the waitlist though, each division will get more spots after the March update...

I would guess that all the pools except for the Women/SGM pool would fill, at least online. Doubt that all 800 of the people registered will be able to make it. It would be cool to see a number above 800 though, I believe that will be the most in BG AMs history.

Volunteer registering

There is a place on registration for volunteers to sign up - no charge, but you must be current to sign up. perks depend on how much time is spent, but we always need a few course officials, spotters, security for fly mart, CTP barkers, players' package stuffers, beverage runners, and additional fine looking women to hang around!

This also gets you on the daily e-mailing list that the registered players are on so I can keep the non-playing staff informed on the daily weather report, vents happening, changes if any, and etc. So if you are a manufacture rep coming, course official from one of the course sponsors, and NOT playing go ahead and get registered as a volunteer.

Gateway supports BG AMs with fund raising disc release

Fundraising for the BG AMs $25 shipped (yes for all three)

Dave put together this great package - about 30 available and after pre-sales. As always a special blend putter and a mini, plus the proto of the overmolded assin. The what?

Per Dave:

new overmolded assassin in our "S" sure grip polymer blends.
This particular run is best for drives of 300-350 feet ( 50 mph with 10-12 rotations per second at medium trajectory of 15-20')!!
Overmolding discs with two different weights of polymers allows us to produce a greater disparity in weight between the wing and the flight plate without losing the amount of space needed on the underside of a disk which is important for glide. This particular run has 50 g in the flight plate and 118 to 125 in the rim ( total weight 168-175).
Very grippy in the flight plate/ firm durable in the rim.

Thinking of driving to BG to get my first look at the courses, since the weather is going to be nice this weekend. Not being from the area, What courses get packed during the day? Ill be playing - Hobson, Miller, Phil Moore, and Tech College. Since its most likely just me playing, I would like to play the courses that get packed early in the day.

no courses are ever packed, except for lovers lane during the summer. You might see 10 disc golfers all day at those 4 courses. Well, there are doubles at Hobson saturdays at 10:00, so that would be the only exception. Even then, that will be 20 people max. You should have no issues.

Phil Moore and BG Tech will be ghost towns

Course Descriptions

feel free to comment - I am providing this for Disc Golfer Magazine and I know if I post it here first I will have plenty of spell checkers and comments worth including before the short deadline coming up soon . . . . :

The Courses:

Hobson Grove Park Disc Golf Course (established 1978): The course set around a historic mansion on a hill top, is heavy but clean woods requiring accurate shots and straddle putting. The 4906 feet par 55 course will be played by intermediate, masters, and sr. grandmaster men as well as all women divisions.

The HB Clark Disc Golf Course at Kereiakes Park (established 1983): The Course set on rolling hills with large evergreen (with 2-meter rule in effect) trees defining precise fairways requiring every shot in the book. The 5780 foot par 57 course will be played by advanced, masters, and grandmasters men's divisions.

The Jeff Soule Disc Golf Course at Griffin Park (re-established 1990): Plenty of water in play on the front 9 with the back 9 mostly open among young trees with wind available. The 5150 feet par 54 course will be played by recreational and sr. grand master men and all women.

The Rick & Sylvia Voakes Disc Golf Course at White Park 9 (established 1990): The nick name Blowing Green is in full effect on this wide open course with OB trails on each hole, limited elevation and young trees give players the chance to grip and rip here! The 7240 foot par 61 course will be played by recreational and sr. grandmaster men and all women.

Lovers Lane Park Disc Golf Course (established 1997): This course is mostly open with mature trees scattered on the rolling hills. The location is one of the highest in Bowling Green and with no woods in sight to break up the wind the Blowing Green effect will be noticed here. The 5749 feet pay 55 course will be played by recreational and sr. grandmaster men and all women.

Preston Miller Park Disc Golf Course (established 2002): This short tight wooded course on a hill side above a creek demands accurate tee shots and tricky stance putts while playing the duce or die game. The 5150 feet par 54 course will be played by Intermediate, masters, and grand master men divisions.

Chalybeate Springs Disc Golf Course (established 2004):
This short mostly wooded course know for steep hillsides, OB trails on all holes, and a true duce running course. The few open holes still require thought to stay away from the OB, but there are some nice short ace runs throughout the course. The 4060 feet par 54 course will be played by recreational and grand master men.

Franklin Simpson Disc Golf Course (established 2005): This monster will be played from the short tees but will still test you long game with mostly open holes on the rolling hills, tricky pin placements, river or manmade OB in play on all holes. The 6265 feet course will be played by advanced, masters, sr. grand masters men and all women.

Nat's Disc Golf Course at Phil Moore Park (established 2008):
Mostly open with limited elevation and lots of out OB trails, the course also has a few wooded holes next to a water hazard. The 7207 feet par 61 course will be played by advanced and intermediate men.

South Central Kentucky Community & Technical College Disc Golf Course (established 2011): This is a tightly wooded technical course with punishing rough, and a couple open holes prior to the stroll through the campus to get back to the woods. The 6250 feet par 61 course will be played by advanced and intermediate men.

Covington Woods Final 9 course (established 2016 for this event): The final 9 will crisscross a ball golf course for great gallery and film opportunities, gentle rolling hills, starting in mature woods, continuing towards a pond, playing around the large evergreen trees, short island hole, and booming finishing hole where the trophy basket will be presented to the winners on the spot! The 3850 feet par 31 course will be played by top 4 plus ties in all divisions with over 8 players.

What is the "9" and I really hope the women aren't playing White, that would completely crush Mandabear, she had the worst experience of her life out there 2 years ago, and the schedules I've seen don't have the women here.
