Did some research to find out how much on average some pros make per event. The numbers came out higher than I thought they would. Now I understand why some of the guys who don't win all the time keep pushing on. They make enough to sustain what they love doing. It seems impressive that Ken Climo and Barry Schultz have more events logged but their avg winning isn't that far behind. But....that also probably means that pro payouts hasn't grown that much over the years.

I just searched on some of the bigger names, I'm sure I've missed some obvious players. Plus this includes all their am tournaments. But still..it's interesting to see the avg amount they make for putting in the time.

Paul McBeth: $428,183.09 / 312 = $1372.00
Ricky Wysocki: $359,234.76 / 304 = $1181.00
Ken Climo: $432,828.62 / 456 = $949.00
Eagle McMahon: $118,871.20 / 143 = $831.00
Nikko Locastro: $297,582.76 / 392 = $759.00
Paige Pierce $185,369.64 / 252 = $735.00
Barry Schultz: $393,837.70 / 538 = $732.00
Simon Lizotte: $128,090.04 / 181 = $707.00
Will Schusterick: $233,202.13 / 358 = $651.00
JohnE McCray: $228,228.03 / 451 = $506.00
Greg Barsby: $173,242.91 / 388 = $446.00

Probably also should be accounting for inflation in some way. $500 in 1992 is not the same as $500 in 2006 (~$719), let alone 2019 (~$901). So it's probably safe to say that guys like Climo and Schultz did better than the raw numbers might indicate.

Another thing to account for is expenses. Without some kind of evaluation of net income from tournaments, these numbers don't really describe what the pros earn from playing.

The numbers you posted are a bit misleading.

For example, McBeth is listed at 312 events, which is correct. However, this includes amateur events where it was impossible for him to make money.

Your comment about "per PDGA event" is technically correct, because they competed as amateurs in PDGA events. However, amount earned per pro event would probably be more what you were looking for.
