I've had a couple disc golfers ask me if I could do dyes for them. When it comes to selling custom dyed discs where does the legal seperate from the illegal dyes because of copyright issues? Superheros, sports logos, etc.
I know the owner of widye.com told me he was careful about copyrighted images; I think he'd been vaguely threated with some legal action for some design he did, but the details of his account are hazy.
in general, if you don't have permission, don't use it. Safest bet is to use original artwork. However, if you're not selling online or somewhere where people who care would see the disc, you'll probably be okay. It's like when your dad used to say " Don't let me catch you doing that again."
