Memorial Drama

Lest I be misunderstood, all of my prior posts were meant in a very lighthearted way. Chuck's right that "stroke" is an incorrect term....but I take bemusement from a lot of sports language. Including disc golf's.

You won't hear ball golf announcers saying someone is in a sand trap. It's a bunker.

I don't know if this is still true, but baseball rules used to not use the term "swing", as in swinging the bat. It was "offer to hit", or something like that. But I never heard anyone use that term, except umpires.

Marty, appreciate what you do but please use "throw" or "shot" instead of the incorrect word "stroke" in your stories. Thanks!

("stroke" has never been used in the PDGA rulebook)

Now, its just "Throw". "Shot" was eliminated from the rulebook for 2013.

Gotta tip my hat you on that one.

(that might be the single biggest misused expression in all of sports) :D
