Moving south for the winter. Where to go?

totally

texas has lots of great golf but it is certainly not warm during the winter and the wind is a constant factor.

maybe consider SoCal in suburbia somewhere so you're not in a huge city. not amazing golf but there are a good number of options, the weather is perfect, and you don't have so many mosquitoes as FL. anyway, i'd be afraid to live in FL, aka the home of the craziest people and most bloodthirsty police in the country.

Um, There are no mosqitos down here in the winter, Craziest people? Maybe, but this whole country is full up with crazy people. Most bloodthirsty police? Not sure where that is coming from? We may not have the best DG courses in the country, but we are working on it. Whats the temps going to be in Texas today? The high for PC Florida today is expected to be 82.

Hey thanks everyone for suggestions. Im up in Canada for my job, at the moment  Im a professional poker player (online, for the most part, which is why Im here bc online poker in the US is kinda dead right now)

The truth is Id be happy almost anywhere that has at least 4 or 5 good courses I can rotate through on a weekly basis. Temperatures aren't a HUGE factor. I can happily play in anything 45 degrees or higher. Im trying to avoid moisture, though.

A place with good weed is huge plus. I like to smoke on a pretty regular basis :)

Im a pretty quiet guy and dont drink too much. Maybe 2-3 beers every now and then, but if the city doesn't have much nightlife thats ok. Im 27, FWIW. A casino in the area would be cool, but no big deal. I said 50k-250k population, but I actually wouldnt mind living 30 minutes away from a huge city.

Beaches, elevation changes and all that stuff is a bonus and not mandatory, for me. My plan is to wake up everyday, play 2-3-4 rounds of golf, enjoy a little cannabis, and then spend the rest of my day exploring the area, playing poker, and hanging out.

Not sure what type of living accomodations you're planning on, but if you're bringing an RV or tent camper you can park it on our property in San Marcos, Texas. It's a small college town with a Population is 55k that's a short drive from the awesome courses in both Austin and San Antonio. We're curently building a couple of disc golf courses on the property and you can stay for free if you help out on the course every now and then.

Thank you for the invitation. Thats very kind of you. Ill be traveling by car with just a few things(clothes, laptop, and plastic) but Ill probably bring a tent/sleeping bag too. Im looking to rent a furnished place/vacation rental, but I would love to visit Texas for a week or two, camp out, and stop by your club. I looked at some of your course pics on FB-- looks pretty badass, man! :D

i've never been there in the winter but there were more mosquitoes there in the summer than i have seem anywhere else. that's great if it's not like that all year but i'm not exactly inclined to believe it, especially since it doesn't get cold enough to kill them.

bloodthirsty police is just anecdotal. seems like every other time i see a headline that a LEO has killed an unarmed person, it is in FL.

here at my house in Texas, it snowed today. i already said this was not to place to come to if you're looking for a warmer winter. Socal was my suggestion.

The temp has little to do with mosquitos. In the winter it dries up down here, and the mosquitos have no standing water to reproduce.

I don't understand why some people on here hate on Florida, that have never even been here, or have only been to one place here and think that they know everything about it. Socal is ok imo, but I think Florida offers a better winter DG experience myself.

That would be great. I think you'll like the courses in the area and no problem with your other requirements either cause, like I said, this is a college town. Give us a call at the number listed on our FB page when you're headed our way. Looking forward to meeting you!

If outside a big city is good enough I have to mention southeast Florida again. We also have a few of your wants, multiple casinos and plenty of beaches.
