Destination FLORIDA

I wish i could go back and edit the original post. Anyways an update to the Orlando area is in bold

ORLANDO
Great things just seem to come in pairs in the land of Disney. Take a break from the park scene and spend an afternoon visiting one of the areas 3 multi-course parks. Bill Frederick Park, arguable one of the best multi-course parks in the state has 3 courses with all very much different styles. The Original Bill Frederick Turkey Lake course is a very good course outright and is one of the oldest in the state. T2 is a gem, full of challenge, uniqueness and fun. The woods course at Bill Frederick is a different animal with lots of snaking tunnel fairways. Another great multi-course park is River City Nature Park. The Alpha course is a relaxing hide-away with looks to kill. There is also one all-star solo course north of town. Lake Hiawatha is wonderful combination of challenge, fun and beauty

Writer Picks
Challenge – Bill Frederick T2, Lake Hiawatha
Beauty – River City Nature Park - Alpha, Lake Hiawatha
Fun – Bill Frederick - Turkey Lake
Family – Turkey Lake

Returned from a 4-day trip to Florida. Stayed in Boca Raton and hit a couple of Nats spring training games in West Palm Beach. Strongly recommend the Wynwood Art District in Miami - super fun building art - and Taco Stand, which had fabulous tacos (also burritos, etc., but gotta try the namesake).

Oh, disc golf. That was fun, too. :)

West Delray Regional Park was in good shape, and @adlacro kindly served as course guide. Fun course with a nice mix of tight woods and open to semi-open bombers. Definitely better than its rating.

Easterlin Park is gorgeous. Spousal unit enjoyed walking the course and taking pictures of horny anoles while I played. The course is short but fun, with plenty of tight woods holes which I like.

The Jet Stream / Snyder Park was also a ton of fun. Again a nice mix of holes, probably the "best" course we hit this time. Spousal unit hit a local casino while I played, and won 72 cents. So we broke even on our trip. :D

Only lost 2 discs on the trip; a Wave that I walked away from on the last hole at West Delray; and a Kaxe that I lazily pulled into the water on an easy approach at Jet Stream. Oh well. :wall:

I hope to be back for Spring Training next year and hit some more courses.

Okay, so the West Delray course is looking better than ever, and will be hosting its first C-tier since Irma (maybe even ever) in just a few short days. With its location bridging the gap between West Palm and Broward off the Turnpike, and new Prodigy T2 baskets, West Delray will challenge everyone. There is also a 6 hole Tiki (beginner friendly) layout on site as well.

I got to play the 10 hole course in Stuart last month on my way back from a tournament practice round. There are some fun holes there but certainly by no means a destination layout. It bridges the gap between West Palm and Port St. Lucie nicely though, and is just five minutes from I-95.

Quiet Waters will reopen before the end of April, as it closes annually for the FL Renaissance Fair (all of Feb and March, plus setup and cleanup).

Silent Lake/Quiet Waters is open again! played it today!

I played the new Eustis course 30min east of Orlando, Palmetto Trails, and it's already awesome. A lot of great work has been done. 2 baskets, 3 tees on every hole. Mostly tightly wooded with a couple tame water holes. Just rubber mats now with plans for concrete. Great signage makes navigation easy. Reviews warned me it would be overgrown, but it's plenty cleared to find your discs. I had a great time out there from the white tees to the red baskets, but tips to yellow baskets would be a real challenge. Even with it being new, it's one of my FL favorites.

Looks like we are going to finally play Lake Hiawatha and Palmetto Trails on Labor Day weekend.

Snyder Park/Jet Stream DGC (Ft. Lauderdale) has received new concrete teepads and has been given a solid makeover. It now plays as a par 59 with good but tight lines. Signage to come soon, and when that happens I'll upload some photos.

The club is pouring teepads this week at Quiet Waters/Silent Lake DGC (Deerfield Beach), and should be set by the weekend. That will now give us concrete tees at all the county park courses plus Jet Stream, which is run by the Ft. Lauderdale parks system.

Okeeheelee Park (West Palm Beach) has received new red DD Veteran baskets and they have gone in the alternate pin positions on most holes.

After we get through the worst that summer has to offer I'll go check out Amelia in Hialeah.

Played Amelia in April and it was a mess. It needs a complete reset.

Milton and Crestview are supposedly getting "pro" level courses by the start of next summer.

It's been QUITE a few years, so I want to re-plug this thread for those interested in making Florida a disc golf destination.

In the following posts, I'll go by general area and categorize courses into three sections: Must plays, good plays, and stay aways.

Northern Florida, I'm going to need your help. I've got I-75 from Tampa on down mostly covered (except for Sarasota), and I-95 from Fort Pierce on down covered. Use your discretion, and also recent reviews, to help update this. Not every course in an area has to make a list. Maybe add a category. I'm happy for suggestions.

Playing Paul Mcbeth's Olympus on 26 Feb as part of a fund raiser for his charity. Worth a look if the course is open when you plan to come.
