My younger brother is just starting out, I have him throwing a 178g Z Zombee, 180g 400 M4, and a 168g Eclipse Proton Anode (Anode courtesy of AimForTheChains, really solid dude). I really do believe in heavier discs, provided the thrower has the arm speed to utilize them. They handle wind much more effectively than/don't get pushed around by it like their light counterparts, which I have noticed is critical for building confidence in new throwers. As for the middleweight putter, my brother does not putt with authority yet, lighter weight discs are easier to get up to speed. Once he graduates to a distance driver, he will probably get a max weight driving putter also.
