Encountering casuals throwing while a tournament is in play

As many others have stated - if you have the course reserved then you can make the rules. If you don't , then they have as much of a right to be there as you. Either way, being courteous is the way to go. If you're a D-bag, it'll come back around to you at some point.

Finnish Women’s Champion walks away from the sport after cheating scandal

It's all too common for people to be obsessively competitive. When these people play, they're not focused on the fun, they're focused on the WIN. Winning is the thrill. Winning is success. Losing means you are less of a competitor than your opponent. The majority of the time that people...

    Help send MJ to Worlds!

Wait, why does Michael Jordan need my money? Or was that Michael Jackson? Or maybe the hippies need more weed at the tournament? Ugh, what MJ are you referring to?!?!! Ok... no, but the title was confusing. Last on my list of guesses was Michael Johansen of Denver, NC (no...

    Distance Discouraged

Because everyone was so nice with their suggestions, I thought I'd throw up an update. In the past month: My average throw has increased from 150' to 210'. Max distance has increased from 200' to 270'. Main items learned: Throwing the disc level makes a huge difference. All of my throws are...

Why are cones not the official target of the pdga?

I honestly don't think the cone is unattractive, but the lid on top of it sure is. Yuck. That said, chains are not attractive either. I certainly was not drawn into the game because of the disc catchers. The only beautiful things in this game are the discs, bags and courses.

    Chucker Definition

I've tried searching the forums, but I can't find the definition for what a "chucker" is. What is a chucker? Is it someone who throws recklessly? Also, it would be nice if the newbie forums had a definitions page. Thanks!

How To Make It In America (In A Sport That Gets No Love)

Womens lacrosse doesn't allow contact. Mens is pretty contact heavy.

How To Make It In America (In A Sport That Gets No Love)

Have to admit when I first told my wife that there are professional disc golfers she looked at me like I must be lying. In the end disc golf is played directly for money, so it's far easier to become a professional at it than many games, including lacrosse. For example - the number of people...

    Hucker Magazine

http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424127887324660404578201432812202750 Newsweek, which ran for 80 years has killed off the non-digital part of the magazine. Many newspapers are also charging for online subscriptions now because so many of their readers no longer want a paper.

    Ticks

Yup, they're out there. Most of the population of Utah lives where it's pretty cold though. Scorpions only become more common when you get closer to Arizona. I've never seen one outside of southern Utah personally.

    No 10 Meter Circle

Even more, that 8' would require falling down, which people won't do. Realistically, it'll only stretch the 4' into 6' as people lean in. That's a small sacrifice to get rid of a rule complication.

    Ticks

Yuck. Not sure what's worse - ticks or scorpions. I guess I'm lucky to live in a place where neither are prevalent.

    No 10 Meter Circle

Agreed.... but mostly because measuring out 10-meters is ridiculous. Where simplification can occur, it probably should.
