Coming from MN I know good courses and bad courses and this one was worth my time to enjoy with my GF. We played the dubbs league and she was paired with the defending amateur world champion!!

Plenty of variety here in terms of hole length and wooded vs open holes.

While there are no mountains, the available elevation in this park is used well.

Easy navigation even without next tee signs.

Concrete tee pads are in good shape.

Great view of the mighty Des Plaines River from #9's tee.

Restrooms are typically open Memorial Day---Labor Day.

Park is open until 9:30 pm all year for the glow rounds.

Rec/INT level players typically find this course to be a challenge, especially on the windy days.

This multi-use park can become very crowded during the summer months. Day camp and other activities occasionally ignore the disc golfers. Please be sure to wait or skip a hole when necessary.

Mud during the spring and fall seasons is very prevalent here.

Some consider the uphill walk back to the parking lot after #9 to be a drag...but it's really not that far.

Alternate tees on every hole add good variety here. Some may be difficult to find. Ask a local or a course guide for assistance if you are interested.

As previously stated, this park is very busy during most "good-weather days". There is a pool/water park, summer day camp and other activities. Please be aware of other park users and yield to them when necessary.

Longest and most difficult of the other nearby 9-hole courses in Lake County (Warren and Grayslake). Some wide open holes that really let you practice powerful shots without fear of losing discs. Some holes with narrow wooded fairways that you need to use more caution on. Challenging course for people who drive less than 300 ft.
Hole 8 is an up-hill drive followed by 9 with a down-hill drive.

Not a whole lot of variety. Most every hole is straight or to the left of the tee. This is good if you are looking to practice a specific shot - but not if you are looking to mix things up a bit.
Trees are already dropping leaves and it can be difficult to find discs (especially on hole #4).
Mosquito's are vicious most of the season.
Some of the baskets seem loose.

Bring some serious bug spray - this is not a joke.
This course is generally busier than some of the others in the area. Lots of players and lots of non-player activities. I've been there when there are cross-country teams getting ready for their season.

-Each hole has concrete tee pads that are in great shape.
-Wide variety of holes that will let you test multiple types of shots.
-The holes are all maintained and make it easy to find stray discs
-The very beginning of the course has a detailed map of the holes with the park rules.
-Each hole has a marker that states the distance and position of the pin

-Parts of the course retain water which make it annoying to play after it rains
-Hole #4 has a lot of trees that interfere with drives but with good/lucky placement it is avoidable.

This is probably the best 9 hole course in the area and worth a play through if you are in the area. Best of luck and avoid the mud!

Another 9 holes could easily be added without cramming them in or reducing the quality of the course. Hopefully one day it happens. It be nice to get the original designer out there to do them as well. Keep the feel of the course.
This course is not super challenging. Even the tight holes have wide fairways, excluding #4. In general you need to be able to throw straight nuts between 240-320' and you can easily take a 4 or 5 down. (Yes I know that some holes are longer than this and they arn't all completely straight). Would be a great course for after work or a short time frame. Careful on hole 9, if you grip lock or throw too much disk your flirting with a stream.

Favorite Hole #1- When you first walk up to the tee and look down the fairway your left sort of puzzled as to where the basket is. Then you notice the semi-tight gap and it seems to want you to throw a gentle hyzer route. But the basket is dead straight. So you want to throw a very gentle hyzer very straight just past the bushes and trees that block the basket for an easy deuce putt. Or you can take your chance and throw a diving s-curve/hyzer into the "gap" (just above the path visible straight ahead in the tree line) if you want to go for that ace.
Go play this course its fun. Not far off I-94.

Some very cool wooded holes, and a few holes where you can air it out. Not many hazards, but don't get confident and put it into the river on #9. All holes are solid, and all are moderately difficult and can be played with different lines. The course makes good use of the landscape. Wooded holes all demand specific lines, and if you hit them eagles are possible. Interesting design on hole 8, very difficult for rhbh players. Woods along the left side of the fairway take away a normal drive and two tall trees on the right side take out the possibility of an anhyzer to the basket. Tees and signs are a plus.

There should be more holes here! There is so much room to take advantage of. Using the top of the sled hill next to hole 9 as a tee would make for an excellent hole. More wooded holes could be fit in without compromising the length or challenge of the course, and a few holes could be fit in between existing holes, specifically between 6 and 7. Other then that there is not too much to complain about here.

Pretty solid course, check out the Walgreens down the street, they always have a great variety of discs in stock.

- Course makes great use of the available space for the layout. Even though a large portion of the park is taken up by a pool and some playground equipment, there is enough space to fit in 9 quality holes.
- Some pretty good elevation changes on 3 or 4 of the holes. Mostly downhill shots, with one that goes from hilltop to hilltop. The last hole has a path and a creek past the basket, so the downslope becomes that much more significant.
- Excellent use of forest and trees to make most holes very interesting. #1's basket is guarded by a large patch of forest, very difficult to park a drive by the hole. #2 is a straight/right shot and #3 is a straight/left shot through wide tree-lined fairways. #4 is a short tree-littered hole, while #5 and #6 are a little more open with bigger trees. #7 has a number of trees protecting most lines to the basket. Great variety of wooded holes.
- Holes have decent length overall, with 4 over 300'. Combined with the various obstacles, a very good shot is needed to deuce some holes. Only a couple that are short and open, some elevation on these instead.
- Some water can be in play on #4, but is really just a small run-off ditch.
- Good tees, baskets, and signs.

- Park is used by a lot of people for a lot of different things. Personally, I have never had a problem with people getting in the way, but it would be very easy. Also, you have to deal with the entrance road on a few holes, and the feeling by Milwaukee Avenue is the opposite of seclusion.
- The last two holes can seem very short and very easy, especially after the first seven. They feel sort of tacked on to the rest of the course, and don't do much to leave you with a good feeling on the way out.
- Long uphill walk back to the car after #9, would make a great upshot hole if other park equipment wasn't already there.

- This is a great 9-hole course for people to experience some woods and hills without leaving the northern suburbs. Great use of the forest, there are some decent challenges here. Overall, the course is not extremely difficult, but still very enjoyable. I think it is appropriate for all players, from beginners to people who have been around the block a few times.
- I wish I had the chance to play here when there were still 18 holes. I feel the last two holes really suffer because of the shared land, since there is nowhere else to put them. Still, the course does a great job with what it has and has a high replay factor in my book.

If you are looking for a relaxing game here do not go on Tuesday nights because those are league nights.

A lot of great variety in this course. Very few of the holes are repetitive, and there is no strong favor of RHBH throughout.

While most of the course is fairly short, it is a fun course to play. It is easy to have a disc go errant, and when you do, you are often punished accordingly. ;-)

Of most of the courses in the area, this one has the best variety and fun, in my opinion. Several of the holes have multiple ways to be played. Holes 5, 6, open up a bit, and 7 is wide open and you can let them rip.

Nice, full-size, concrete tees, and signage. The course map has had graffiti on it for at least a year. Not sure if it's been cleaned and re-tagged, or if it's been the same all along.

The park itself is very nice, well maintained, and has plenty of parking and shade.

Crowded... for this park, it's a big con all around. There are often lots of disc golfers about, and many of them are not considerate of other players. While I've met several people who are great, there are enough at this park to make it really stand out.

The other issue with being crowded is that it is a multi-use park, and in some cases holes may be unplayable due to people on the course. Hole 7 especially has this issue. I've had people walking with their dogs and children go right through fairways without even a clue there's anything going on. This can be very frustrating, or even dangerous.

Hole 4 can get quite muddy, especially after recent rain. I know a lot don't like the number of trees on 4, but it's definitely playable, just gotta watch out for the creek, and mud. ;-)

If this course was closer to home for me or much less crowded, I would play it more often. As it is, it is probably my second most frequently played course behind Central Park (due mostly to proximity).

It's a great course in design, and definitely worth playing. From a course perspective it's one of the better courses I've played in Northeastern Illinois.

Adler is an older yet fantastic course. It was the first course I ever played disc golf on. It used to be an 18 hole course, but was redone to accommodate the pool complex from what I have heard. With the current set up there are some long walks between holes. Personally I think they have enough room to put in a few more holes. It is debateably the most challenging courses in Northern Illinois and has some memorable holes. Especially #2 and #3 which play through majestic corridors of mature trees. I have to drive 30 minutes to get to this course, yet return many times a year. Maybe not a course to plan a road trip around, but definitely a course to hit on the way. I would even drive a couple hours to experience it once.

I understand Disc Golf is an upcoming sport that everybody wants to play but come on PEOPLE! 10 person groups!?!? Everybody throwing 3 and 4 discs per person!?!? Dude.... Sometimes I wish people would just be aware that there are other people out there that wanna play too and your causing a DISC GOLF TRAFFIC JAM!!! ok, I'm done bitching...

One of the best 9 hole courses in northern Illinois, challenging and makes you play a variety of shots.

Could have a few longer holes or just more holes period like I have heard it did in the 90's. Busy almost everyday during the summer but still worth it.

Great variety of shots, with long shots through trees and wide open field shotsfields. There are elevation changes on several holes. Adler is a very well maintained park. It is fairly easy to navigate, just watch the walk from 3 to 4, which is just down the hill along the tress, 6 to 7, which is just straight along the path, and 7 to 8 is past the baseball field and through the woods. It is well marked and there are always others . Holes are not repetitive. An absolute great course. All holes playable, and a challenging course for a beginner.

Parts of the course are flood basins and will flood over when it rains. The entire end of the ninth hole can be submerged after significant rain. Bugs can be bad in summer. Careful of the park district summer camps that can take up several holes in the summr as well. Often time hole 2 and sometimes hole 3 have to be skipped entirely due to camps taking up the fairways.

Every hole can be shot in 2. I have seen a lot of reviews complaining about hole 4, and it is entirely throwable, just keep the disc low and there are several lines to choose from. Just watch the weather before you go, if it has been raining, it will be muddy. There are always other players on the course, so if you get lost, ask one, most of us are locals who are more then happy to help.

Overall a fun course with a lot to like. This course is a bit longer than most others in the area. Good variety of holes. Open fields to heavily wooded tunnels. 1 is a bit tricky as an opener... basket is dog leg to the left behind trees. 2 and 3 are tunnel shots in the woods of some distance. 4 again hooks left in woodsiness. 5 had lotsof tree choices. Ditto, but somewhat less for 6. 7 is a long open shot to a basket in the trees and a bit down hill for a great place to grip and rip. 8 and 9 are much morelike many other local mid length, open baskte holes in this area. On a damp morining there were no crowds to worry about. Tee signs are good and tee pads are all smooth, nice concrete.

Course was a bit muddy after rain. Had I not met up with a local regular and played my first round here with him I would have had no idea where to go from 7 to 8 or from 4 to 5. Use your cell phone camera to snap a shot of the course board at the start to follow it. During summer the campers are everywhere... depending on their activities they can be in your way (or are you in theirs?).

I could play 5, 9 times and call it a course... every time picking a different approach to the basket. How many holes can you say that about. The many trees and options would make for a lot of fun. Come to think of it... I will try this on my next visit. 7 seems to get shorter every time I play it... I throw better... the long down hill helps here. 1 could be a great ace hole if the basket were in the clear... 4 is just tree pinball... but fun. I have played her many more times since my earlier review. Like this place a lot... Just do not care for hole #1... just a waste... move the basket for a natural RHBH chance at a lofted ace... and I would play this hole 9 times in a row... 2 and 3 make for a pair of annie and hyzer twins in the tree tunnel that is fun... likely 2 is the sig hole for this course. 4 is frequently muddy, but still good fun... throw annie to move inward from the stream... then lay up from there for an easy putt. I got a 3 on 7 the other day... I am driving farther every time I T off on 7 and will get a 2 on this hole some day. 8 and 9 seem a bit lame... maybe move the basket on 8 to a big annie towards the river... and move 9... somewhere...

A little bit of everything at Adler. Elevated tees on holes 1 and 9, tunnel fairways on 2 and 3, dense woods on 4, trees to navigate on 5 and 6, and a long open hole on 7.

Beautiful park setting. Most of the disc golf scenes from the comedy movie "Clubless" (2008) were filmed at Adler.

Summer days can be overrun by "day campers", sometimes taking over the fairway on hole 7.

Too crowded most of the time (very popular course).

Can be very muddy in many spots in the spring.

Close to a very busy 4 lane highway on hole 5.

One of the best 9 hole courses I've played. Adler is worth the trip.

The course is set in a large multi-use park with a mix of wooded areas and grassy fields with mature trees. The park is mostly flat, but has a few holes with a little bit of elevation. There is a nice mix of holes through denser trees with thick rough, and holes that play through stands of mature trees with no real rough, along with a couple mostly open holes at the end.

There's not a huge variety of lengths, but there are a few aceable holes, some holes that force an accurate drive to have a chance at the deuce, and a longer hole that leaves room to open up a little. The course seemed to be pretty fair to left and right handed players, with holes that favored different kinds of shots. There were some fun holes, like the first hole that really forces accuracy to stay out of the woods on the right and get to a spot that gives you a look at the basket. The second and third holes are neat through long corridors of mature trees. The last hole is open, but has a nice downhill shot with the river if you overshoot by too much.

There is a decent course map at the beginning, make sure you take a look at this before your round. There are nice concrete tees that were level and in good shape, and hole signs with the layout and distance to the pin. There was never a question of where to throw while standing on the pin, even on the couple blind shots. The park was well taken care of, with nicely mowed grass, and very little trash, and there's clearly ongoing maintenance keeping the wooded fairways clear of brush.

There are a few long walks between holes on this course, and it's not very obvious at times where to go next. This would be much less of an issue if there was good signage throughout the course pointing the way to the next tee. The course also doesn't end up back at the first tee, there's a pretty long walk up the hill and around the woods to play again or get back to your car.

Though a couple holes were fun, none really stood out as fantastic holes, and too many felt like filler holes without any real challenge or interest. With how spread out around the park the course is, it seemed like it would have been possible to make some more interesting holes.

The course played pretty close to fields and picnic areas along with some walking paths, which could be a problem on a busy day. The course itself gets busy on a nice day, and there can be large groups of newer players that slow the course down and aren't good about letting people through.

This course is not the most beginner friendly around, because of the navigation and the rough on some of the holes. More experienced players will find some challenges here, but not enough to play it regularly.

This is one of the better 9 hole courses in the northern suburbs, so if you're in the area it's worth a stop, though by itself this course isn't worth driving too far out of your way for.

Requires excellent shots 300+ feet through trees to card birdies. Mostly straight shots required with a couple more open hyzer holes at the end. This is one of the most fun 9 hole courses in the Chicago area. Nice long cement tees.

Only 9 holes which makes play difficult during the summer when the course sees alot of action. Baskets are in bad shape.

1) This is a great course set in a very wooded picturezue park. It has all sorts of other activities and a great 9 hole course. Apparently it used to be 18 holes and could certainly have the potential for another 9 set in that wooded area to the right of #2.

2) Sledhill on #9 is a great disc golf hole (while being a weak sledding hill). It is a gradual slope but the wind will most likely play a little havoc. You are throwing downhill and with the normal prevailing wind so the disc will travel!

3) Big concrete pads are nice to throw off of with plenty of room to make your normal desired approach.

4) Nice big sign at the beginning of the course and a diagram of all of the holes.

5) Although old baskets . . . they seem to still catch just fine!

6) Lawn areas are well maintained.

7) Distance is an average of over 300' which is nice for an older park style course. I like the challenge that goes with it.

1) Wooded holes can get a little uddy as the mulch is thin in spots. Dirt around the concrete tees and baskets could also use some mulch to help clean things up a little bit and provide a little better looking course.

2) Walk from 6-7 is a little long, but at least it takes you from one area to the next avoiding crossing paths with pedestrians on the walk path.

3) From 7 green to 8 tee is confusing. I kept walking towards #9 tee without realizing #8 tee is set into the woods to the right. It is far enough away from the basket on #7 they need to have a direction sign (unless I missed it).

4) There is no clear line on a few of the holes . . maybe it is easier to develop some lines if playing the course many times, but specifically #4 there is almost no way to get close to the basket! Lots of plinko trees!

5) Bug spray is a requirement!

6) Definitely not a beginner friendly course because of distance and tight wooded holes. Even the open holes on grass have a lot of mature trees that will most certainly frustrate the beginner.

This is a very old fairly well maintained property. It is certainly an old school park course using the best features of the park. Dense woods, tunnel shots through rows of mature trees, a few open ripper holes, and some holes with well placed trees to create the shot making requirements.

The only thing keeping this course from a higher rating would be some mulch additions around the tees, greens and some fairways. Also Like others have said the basket are hard to find so maybe a bright paintjob on the basket would help or a plastic utility flag.
