Other Thoughts:

It's hard to add much description to a course with over 100 reviews. This is certainly the most polished course I have played to date. You aren't going to miss the $8 (oddly, I payed $7 + tax online--???), particularly if you go around a second lap. Your bag might be a bit lighter if you don't hit the fairways on front nine, with its wooded and steeply sloped roughs eager to grab your off-target offerings.

The course lists as moderately hilly, which in the context of all courses everywhere is probably fair. In the context of Minnesota, it is positively Appalachian. I guarantee that you'll work up a sweat on the rolling hills, but you won't slip, as the steepest sections tend to have concrete staircases and timber retaining walls.

Although there are short and long tee/basket options, the long tee to blue basket arrangement is fine for beginners, with the possible exception of #1, where the blue basket is up a staircase surrounded by difficult wooded rough, and #17, which is every bit as stupid as others have stated--over a walking path, road and parking lot. Oddly, a few people park right under the throw-zone, despite ample opportunities elsewhere.Throw a disc you don't love, as you are almost certain to hit asphalt very hard. Better yet, play the short tees on this one.

The Three Rivers Park district has put in the work on this one. Hopefully they'll finish the job with a re-design on 17 soon. If they did, it would be hard not to give them the 5th star.

This review contains SPOILERS for the Jurassic Park/World rides at Universal Studios!

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 28, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Bryant Lake Park fills a large, hilly piece of land in the southwestern suburbs of Minneapolis. The 18-hole disc golf course here offers some nice views of the namesake lake, plus a whole lot more.

I have to start with the infrastructure here, because it is some of the best I have ever seen in my 190ish courses played. Not only are the tee pads all large and concrete, but they are also framed in patio pavers or even entire deck platforms in many cases. Not only are there trash cans and benches at every tee, but recycling bins and bag hangers too. Not only are the paths between holes well-marked, but they are often paved. Not only are there two practice baskets and an outhouse, but also a water bottle filler. The DISCatcher baskets are color coded and in perfect shape. The kiosk and the course map on it are high-quality. There is even a great course website.

What about the actual golf? It's nice. This is a technical course with a nice range of distances, from sub-200' to about 550'. It plays in and out of the woods and moderately open hillsides, with no super tight fairways but no completely open ones either. You'll need many different throws, plus accuracy to score well here.

Many holes have noteworthy elevation changes, with a few of the changes being pretty extreme. #10 requires a left turning throw down a pretty steep hill. There's a nice net near the basket that might help stop your disc (and will protect players on #11's tee pad). Elsewhere, there are a couple of holes where ponds are in play.

This course offers up to four different layout options. The longest option (long tees to blue banded baskets) will challenge intermediate level players. The shorter options shave down the difficulty level incrementally, and the shortest option (short tees to yellow banded baskets) is appropriate for beginners.

This is where the spoilers come in. :) As I experienced the last part of this course, the Jurassic World/Jurassic Park ride at the Universal Studios theme parks came to mind. I know a lot less about theme parks than I do about disc golf courses, but I know that I rode a Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios in Orlando in 2019, then a very similar Jurassic World ride at Universal Studios Hollywood this spring. How is this relevant? Like the ride, this course starts off a little bit unassuming. Once you start getting used to the immaculate course infrastructure and maintenance, #2-14 are honestly kind of just...normal. Great holes, but nothing crazy. The last 1/3 or so of the ride throws a surprise at you where T-rex breaks out of containment (or something like that) and you start getting pulled upwards. I stepped up to hole 15's tee here and got a similar vibe. This one has you throw straight up a steep hillside with a stairway cut into it. On the ride, you then get pulled through the dark at the top of the hill a little bit, unsure when T-rex is going to jump out. Hole 16 is like this. It's a short, tightly wooded hole on top of a ridge with both baskets tucked near a large rock.

Cons:

The climactic moment of the ride happens when T-rex jumps out at you and the simulated ride operator sends you out an escape hatch, sending the boat you're in flying down a huge waterslide at high speed. Step up to hole 17's tee pad and you see the edge of a literal cliff. If you stand on the pad, you can see a sheer drop off about 25 feet in front of you, then the tops of some trees beyond that. Walk up to the edge and you can see what lies below. But therein lies the problem. At the bottom of the cliff is a paved, heavily travelled walking path. After that is the park drive. After that, off to the left is a pond. If you want to avoid that, your other choice over to the right is an active parking lot. This is no doubt one of the most dangerous holes I have ever played. Also fun and exhilarating? Absolutely. But those who have been following my reviews know how seriously I take potential safety issues, and this one is pretty crazy. They do have several "Be Aware of Flying Disc" warning signs, but still...wow. It's such a heavily played course too. I wonder how many people have been hit by a high speed disc. I wonder how many cars have taken damage. Like wolfhaley said, I can't believe this course hasn't been pulled yet because of this hole.

Other than #17, there are not really any open bomber holes here. And the overall level of challenge is not terribly high. It's a fun round for the vast majority of players, but overall I think expert players and big arms might not like this one as much.

There are nice tee signs with map/hole number/distance to each basket/par. BUT, these only appear at the long tees and only list the long tee information. It would be nice to see additional tee signs at the short tees. And related: As alluded to above, this course has up to four playable layouts - long and short concrete pads + long/blue band and short/yellow band DISCatcher baskets. But several holes have only one basket and/or tee, and none of this is really clarified on the tee signs. A couple of them were even incorrect (i.e. two baskets were shown on the sign, but that particular hole only had one). Some baskets had multiple flags with numbers on them that were not always the correct hole number, so I didn't really understand the purpose of that. It would be ideal if there were just two pads and two baskets per hole consistently.

Other Thoughts:

This course costs $8/round to play. There is a cash option available on site, but I chose to pay my fee online. It seemed like the fee structure/amount have changed since some of the previous reviews/course info were written. I don't miss that $8 at all, as I could see where the money goes 1000% on this course.

The practice area is by #18's basket, not #1's tee. To park near hole 18's basket, take the first left when entering the park then park in the lot on your left (the closer to the entrance you park, the closer you'll be to the practice area and the further you'll be from hole 17's fairway). Once ready to start your round, proceed back across the park road where you took the first left to find the kiosk and first tee.

I woke up early on a weekday to come play this course before I had to check out of my hotel at 11 AM - and I'm so glad I did. Bryant Lake Park with its wild ending is something every disc golfer should experience at least once! Just try to be careful on hole 17.

Pros:

I've had Bryant Lake on my radar for years now and finally decided to pull the trigger today. Boy am I glad I did. I also regret not playing this years ago. This course is without a doubt the most well maintained, amenity filled course I've ever seen. I have no issue with pay to play. This course is one of the few where you literally can see where that money goes. On every hole.

The baskets are Innova Discatchers. Two permanent baskets on the majority of holes. Standard yellow bands for the shorts, Blue bands for the longs. They had flags on the tops on most holes as well, making locating the pin even easier. Solid variation on many holes between the different pins.

The tee pads are fantastic. Perfect sized pads that were all level and grippy. Two per hole. On top of that, many were surrounded by brick layed into the ground around the whole tee area. I've never seen anything like it. Immaculate.

The design is very well done here. The course features rolling terrain throughout which is used very nicely. While not extremely wooded, there are trees to shape shots around on pretty much every hole. On the more open holes the pins are tucked into the woodline or guarded in some fashion to add challenge on the green. The distances aren't extreme by any means, but there's no gimmes out here.

The flow of the course is unbelievably easy to follow. You will not get lost here. The course is extremely well marked with next tee signs. Beyond that there's well worn paths leading to the next hole. If there's not already a paved walking path leading to stone stairs. Best I've ever seen.

The tee signs are basic. Hole #, distances and a basic hole layout map showing the two tees and two basket locations. These are perfectly serviceable but somehow seem pretty weak compared to everything else here.

Cons:

The course, while immaculate looking, isn't the most challenging. Which is fine. Hell, this is the kind of course I prefer. For the bigger arms, once the sheen starts to wear off, it'll lose some of it's appeal.

The course, from what I hear, gets extremely crowded. I can see why, but expect delays/slow rounds during peak hours. It wasn't too terrible on a Tuesday morning in September, but it was starting to fill up.

Hole 17, the epic top of the world shot. It is a fantastic hole no doubt. However, you are throwing over an active park road on this hole. Not only that, the RHFH landing area is an active parking lot. This was the one aspect of this course that seemed ill concieved to say the least. How this course hasn't been pulled because of this hole is mildly baffling.

Pay to play. I don't consider this a con, especially for the upkeep of this course. But $6.50? Round it up or down. Who in the sam hell has 2 quarters in their pocket. That being said it is better than the $6.45 it says on the main course info page currently. I'm sure you can pay online with an app or something beforehand. This is disc golf not investment banking or twitter. Make it $5 and call it a day.

The course isn't up all year. It'd be a bit of a bummer if I lived around here and bought an annual pass, only to be able to play it six months of the year.

Other Thoughts:

Bryant Lake isn't going to be the most challenging course you'll see in the Twin Cities. It will, however, be the more well maintained, beyond belief even, course you may ever see. The golf is fun. There's some nice views. Highly recommend this one.

The replay factor is a different story though. If you haven't played here you need to at least once. Once you have, you need to check out some of the other, more technical, longer etc. options in the area. The amount of courses, and really good to great courses in the TC is mildly annoying. The options are endless. And while this course is immaculate, there's just too many other options to not explore further.

Well love and well maintained track 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 18, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

I thought this might be at least a very good course based on the reviews and ratings, but have to say that it was a more complete track than I would have thought. The course is pay to play but it seems that many of the worthwhile ones these days are. It's fairly easy to find the course within the park and the large map, as well as scorecards with the map on them are freely available as well as mini pencils right by the beginning of the course.

I have to say the accurate signs, benches on every hole, bag hangers, and large teepads were fantastic. As well as well built steps, supporting walls, small bridges and similar.

The baskets are all Innova baskets, one set with blue bands for the Longs and the normal yellow for the shorts. There is also a short tee on many of these that would make this somewhat challenging course more accessible to newer and lower powered players.

There is a good use of elevation here particularly on 17 which is a booming downhill par 4 that comes back uphill to the pin.

There is a little water in play, mainly just one hole, but the use of tee lines and natural barriers make it a fun play.

The greens all have a big wood chip circle around them which is a nice touch.

There are even accurate next tee signs on every hole, which is incredibly rare.

Also looks mowed fairly recently.

Cons:

It's got very few big flaws. A couple of spots where fairways cross a little close and a few more where there possibly could be a more interesting line.

The 6.50 per day is higher than many comparable courses but I'm not going to knock it for that. If the money is at all going back to the course it's worth it.

Other Thoughts:

This is a really solid course with a ton to recommend it. I used so many tee shots that it wasn't just a typically FH/BH hyzer course, I used some OH shots and turnovers, tight tumble hyzerflips and overall had to work a little bit to score well.

If your close it is recommended you play here.

Also has a nice practice area with a couple of chainstars to warm up.

This is a great course. Paying $5, $6 or $7 is fine. Just play more than one round to make it worth the investment. However making the daily fee $6.50 was a silly decision. Just make it an even dollar amount!

Will be coming back. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 3, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a great course overall with its own little quirks. First off, the tee pads were great. All of the teepads had a color at the front: blue for long and yellow for short. Most of the holes had two tee pads on them, some with three because one wasn't officially used anymore.
Next up, the baskets. Most of the holes had two baskets on them. They were color coded, again yellow and blue. Usually the blue tee pad had a better view to the blue basket. All of the baskets were in great condition and caught well.
Most of the holes had their own layout/design. Some of them were kind of repetitive, not to the point of them being bad. Some of the holes had a great view of the lake, and if you weren't careful, your disc could end up there too. 17 was probably the most fun hole there because of the massive elevation change. You throw off a massive hill over a road. You have to judge the wind and what disc you are using, or else you could hit a car in the parking lot to the right or OB to the left or right.

Cons:

With the whole disc hitting a car, don't park in the parking lot off of hole 17 or there is a good chance you car is going to be hit. I saw mine get hit and luckily it wasn't damaged. Also, going from hole 14 to 15 was a bit confusing and led me the wrong way. Today was a busy day because it was a warm spring day on the weekend. I had to wait on every single hole for a while.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, Bryant Lake Park is a great place to disc golf if you are around. The course is well up kept and clean. This is a pay to play courses, and the fee was raised to around $6.20.

Immaculately maintained 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 24, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The thing that really sticks in my mind about this place is how nice this place looks. Every green had a soft layer of shredded cedar mulch on them. The tees had garbage cans, recycle bins, and benches, signs, and bag holders. All fairways well mowed and the rough trimmed out. Thank you!

The course reminds me somewhat of the Hiestand course I had played in Madison, WI a couple days prior. The fairways are fairly wide and well- defined - it's when you hit the rough edges that can mess with your score. There are not many holes in which you find a lot of trees "in" the fairway. Often times the fairway trees affect either the drive or the approach, but usually just one or the other.

Dual pins (both permanent in the ground) give you options. The Innova yellow bands on the short pins help you home in on the long pins which are less visible.

Cons:

Just as Hiestand in Madison, there was a glut of right turning fairways (about half), which was a bit repetitive.

Other Thoughts:

I joined a group of singles that were gathering on the first tee. I'm glad we did - good company and one of the guys got an ace on hole #11! Much better than playing through all day (crowded on a Saturday - we had to wait to tee on nearly every hole).

Incredibly Beautiful Course 2+ years drive by

Pros:

+ This course is incredibly well kept up and beautiful, well worth the $5 fee
+ Great use of elevation
+ Wide variety of shots required
+ Love that both baskets are in place all the time
+ Trash cans, benches, bag hangers galore.
+ Tee signs well done and very clear signs pointing you to the next basket
+ Tee pads in great shape
+ Overall, course flow is well done
+ Fairways are well defined and rough is typical for the area, thick but you can get in their a usually find your disc.
+ Hole 17 is epic, a couple others are very scenic as well

Cons:

- Overall challenge could be better, I've played this course three times over the last three summers and am pretty much guaranteed to shoot under par (playing par 55) in the long pin positions. The course par is a bit of a joke, I think I was -11 according to the posted par, I would recommend playing everything except 8 long as a par 3.
- Pin positions are static, wish they had more.

Other Thoughts:

I play Bryant Lake Park every summer on my annual trip to visit the in-laws. It's an incredibly well cared for course, it's been a unique experience for me, it's the closest experience to the country club atmosphere of ball golf that I've had. If they added alternate pin positions that increased the challenge a little, I'd rate this course a 5, there would be nothing I could find wrong with it.

Intermediate 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 21, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Course is set in a large, multi-use park with lots of other activities going on. Luckily, the disc golf is well separated from everything else, there shouldn't be any interference.
- Majority of the course are holes with mowed fairways and nasty rough to avoid. While there aren't many trees to avoid in the fairway itself, there are definitely lines that need to be hit, and places to get in serious trouble. A good variety, with RHBH hyzers, anhyzers, flicks, and tricky straight shots. Hyzers include a gradual one on #9, #10, and #14, and a sharper one on #10. Some shorter flick shots like #3 and #6, and longer annys like #8 and #18. Some cool straight shots like #1 past some trees, a flex on #2, a pinch point on #5, and a long downhill bomber on #17.
- A few other holes have more trees to contend with, like a very small RHFH hyzer on #13, a tight downhill tunnel hyzer on #16, a gap over a hill on #15, and a very cool basket placement behind trees and a built-up wall on #4. There is a wide route on the left, otherwise it's a dead straight shot.
- A good amount of spots have elevation changes, both gradual and pretty extreme. #1 is a low valley, #3 is a slight uphill, #5 has an elevated pad, #6 is back uphill, #9 is slightly uphill, #10 has a good downslope, #13 is slightly down, #15 is up and over a hump off the tee, #16 is downhill, and #17 is a BIG downhill. A very good mix from start to finish. There are also many spots where the land slopes off of the fairway, so an errant shot can be in SERIOUS trouble. #6 and #7 are very nasty to the left, past the basket on #9 is rough, must be avoided at all costs.
- Some very cool basket positions, #3 is on a built-up platform, #7 is up a multi-tiered structure, #15 is on an 'island' past some sand, #16 is located directly behind a large boulder, and #17 is on a HUGE built-up, multi-level wood platform.
- A few spots with water, more marshy than anything else. Still hazardous, and something to look out for.
- Amenities here are top-notch; excellent signs, great teepads and baskets, benches, erosion control, paths, stairs, you name it. Only thing missing is a practice basket.

Cons:

- Since most of the holes are out of the woods, there are some pretty open lines. Being able to follow the usual hyzer or anyhyzer lines can be good enough to score well. There are holes with gaps to hit, certainly, but a lot of them are very forgiving.
- Course is pretty friendly to left handed players, with only a few holes that require a true hyzer line. A straight shot is usually good enough in almost all cases if all else fails.
- A little bit on the shorter side; there are five holes under 250', and some of the longer shots are downhill, like #1, #5, #10, #11, #16, and even the longest hole #17.

Other Thoughts:

- Overall, a very enjoyable course that has a very high fun factor and a good variety of shots. There are a lot of unique holes, like the block-off green on #4, the gap shot on #15, the cool boulder on #16, and of course the mega-bomber on #17. The elevation changes really make things interesting, and missing your lines can be big trouble. Beginners might want to hold off on this one for a little bit, everyone else should thoroughly enjoy it.

Beautifully groomed 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 2, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course plays through a scenic park with some excellent views on many holes. This is one of the most manicured courses I've played, the grounds were immaculately kept and the amount of work that has gone into retaining walls, terraced greens and steps on the steeper hills is just amazing. There is lots of timber and stone work around the tees and greens that really adds a special vibe to this course. There are dual pads and dual pin positions, many holes had two baskets in play when I visited to add some variety and different challenges. The long tees have decent signage, the course flow is easy to follow with no major navigation issues.

There is a nice mix of hole shapes, lots of straight shots with a handful of left and right turning holes. A few longer holes mixed in with the mostly reachable shots keeps things interesting. There is elevation throughout the course, with some really fun downhill holes and some tricky uphills. Many of the greens offer roll away potential. Hole 17 is an empty your bag shot (too bad it wasn't the last hole, it would make a perfect ending to the course), with a great looking view off the tee and space to watch the disc fly.

Cons:

The biggest issue with the course for me is the lack of challenge. Even the long tees and pins don't offer much challenge for better players, and the short setup is pretty beginner friendly. A few holes feel a bit like filler at times. There are several pretty open holes with long grass rough, my least favorite obstacle as it adds frustration not challenge.

Hole 17 is a ton of fun, but the road, path and parking lot in play are a bit of a safety issue. I would like to see a bit better indication of which holes have multiple permanent pins, and which placement is in use on others. With a handful of blind holes it adds some time scouting out the baskets.

Other Thoughts:

I had a lot of fun playing this course, it's not that tough but it's an enjoyable course in a nice park. Beginners can have a lot of fun here, with reasonable lengths and only a handful of really technical shots that punish misses. More experienced players can enjoy the work on their short game here, but won't find too many different parts of their game truly tested. I love to see courses that get this kind of care and attention, especially with a fairly reasonable price tag to play.

Fun and Scenic 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 6, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Bryant Park DGC is easily the nicest course I have ever seen. The groundskeeping is amazing with neatly mowed fairways and well-defined rough, concrete tees that sit in built-up and framed tee boxes, mulched greens surrounded each basket in a large circle. The course has many benches, excellent bag hangers, and great tee signs. Navigation was a breeze without the map, but you do get a map and scorecard once you pay. I can't express in words how much time, effort, and attention to detail that has been put into this course (check out the pics and you will see). Also, this park does not feel like it is in a big city as it has grassy hills, large trees, and spectacular views of the lake that can be seen from many of the holes.

The course itself features a solid design with good variety of open/wooded, left/right/straight, and flat/up/down. There are two sets of tees for each hole- the shorts are great for any level player and the longs offer more challenge of length and often a different angle. Even from the longs, this course is on the shorter side of the modern day average, but there is enough rough, obstacles, mandos, and o.b. to keep you honest.

There was no repetitive or filler holes. There were, however, multiple unique/memorable/signature holes. For example, #7 features a tiered green, #15 has an artificial "water" hazard, and of course #17 which is one of the ultimate "top-of-the-world shots".

Cons:

Just a very few nitpicky things: There is no water in play, despite the name of the course!

There was one longer than normal walk somewhere in the middle that could have used a sign or two to help navigate through the woods as there were multiple paths.

The hill to #15 tee was steep and did not have stairs- they are found all over the rest of the course but badly needed here. There appeared to be some (presumably temporary) construction/maintenance on holes 15 and 16 so, I unfortunately did not get to play #16 with the big rock as was intended, but instead there was temp discatcher set up short. I am not sure, but #15 may have been different than the normal set up as well.

There were 2 baskets in the ground for each of the first 4 holes, but the rest only had 1. (Maybe 2 per hole is a work in progress?)

The shorter tees did not have a tee sign of their own.

Other Thoughts:

It does cost $3/person/day to play here, but you can clearly see those dollars at work. Bryant is a beautiful course with its natural scenery and the man-made luxuries. It offers a country club feel that you normally only see on ball golf courses.

This course is more about having fun in an amazing setting, rather than being difficult- and it succeeds and exceeds its purpose. Those looking for the ultimate challenge will not find it at Bryant Lake so keep that in mind, and if I lived here I would probably get bored after a few rounds here and would seek courses with a higher level of difficulty. However, it is no pitch and putt slouch either- the holes are interesting enough and you still have to throw quality shots to shoot well.

Also, this course is really close to Gotta Go Gotta Throw, so be sure to check out their large inventory while you are here.

Its a very purty course, albeit some underwhelming holes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 10, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great intermediate to recreational level course. Probably in terms of amenities and manicuring, Bryant Lake probably ranks at the top of any course that I've ever played. Beautiful detailed signage, spacious dual pads, and often dual baskets on many holes. Terraced tees and pin areas which add a fun element to approaches. Lots of trees and schule to avoid and great elevation changes. Everyone needs to play the signature downhill bomb on 17 long-long just once. $3/day $35/year fee keeps a lot of the riff-raff element away.

Cons:

Advanced to pro level players will be underwhelmed here (although they can still enjoy themselves). For all of its manicured beauty, the amenities do seem to be putting a facade on a course that simply isn't that challenging. I'm not that great a player, and even playing this course for the first time I was able to shoot 6 up from the long pads (albeit to what was the short basket in most instances because it took me awhile to realize some holes had two baskets). I like the idea of having dual baskets as they give the players choices, but they can lead first timers here to confusion as they're not common at most courses. Distinguishing them with different colored flags would help. While I love the shot on 17, there is potential for hitting people on the roadway or bikepath below, or for hitting cars in the parking lot to the area right of the baskets. Watch before you throw if you decide to shoot from the long pad.

Other Thoughts:

Yeah, while it wasn't exactly BRP, I'd definitely come back here and play again, and I think people should stop by here if they're in the Twin Cities just to see what is possible as far as sprucing up their course if we start embracing the idea of pay to play. If you come here, definitely keep an eye on your throws or send out someone to spot as there are plenty of spots off the fairway that can hide your disc.

Awesome!!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 16, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is exceptionally nice & challenging. It has everything a top tear course should have (with the exception of very little water). The use of the property is well though out and there are some incredible views. It is very clean and well maintained.

- Wide variety of shots.
- Big long tee pads.
- Two tees and pins on most holes.
- Lots of elevation changes.
- Exceptional landscaping & maintenance.
- Wooded holes, open holes, rights, left, ups & downs.
- Great signage & benches. Awesome tee pad areas in general, best I have seen.
- Sand traps. THIS IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!!!
- Hard for beginners but doable because of short tees and pins.

This is one of the nicest course I have played it is right up their with Blue Ribbon Pines. There are three or four signature holes and the rest of the course is awesome as well.
-The 17th hole is what this course is known for 542ft over the parking lot off a massive cliff. Very sweet but can be dangerous as well.
-16 has a very cool rock in the middle of the fairway that comes into play and makes this hole interesting.
-14 or 15 has a sand trap, which I think is a great idea. I wish there was more holes like this and more course that put traps in use.
-Hole 7 is set atop a four-tear, landscaped pyramid that was made for erosion control. It is very intimidating and can make for some bad rolls.

Cons:

1)Most of the difficulty of this course comes from the length. It has some interesting hole placement but for the most part you don't have to think about your line to much. Don't get me wrong I think this is a wonderful course I just think some of the pins could be placed better.
2)There is very little water on this course and only if you have a real bad throw dose it come into play.
3)There are some places where there is the chance of getting hit by a disk. 17 & a big down hill hyzer I think 9 or 10 are the two most dangerous.
4)This course can get busy and if there are leagues you might as well go some place else. It is great that the course is so well received but I think their needs to be another top tear course near by to relive some of the pressure.
5)This is not a con for me but may be for some pay to play.
6)This is not a con for me but there are lots of good players and it can get a little bit intimidating sometimes.

Great Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great mixture of challenging tees and distance tees. Very well maintained and nice landscaping. Great views of the lake and fairly close to the city. Some good elevation changes also make this a challenging course.

Cons:

There are a couple holes that I consider "disc eaters". but then again that's the challenge. Almost always crowded with waits at multiple tees.

Other Thoughts:

I play Bryant at least once to twice a month, it is definitely one of my favorites.

Very well maintained above average course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Very well maintained
-Good balance
-Varied hole distances
-Multiple tees/baskets

Cons:

-A bit short of parking
-a safety concern with #17

Other Thoughts:

This course is located in a large regional park in Eden Prairie, easily accessible from the interstate. The beginning of the course is just inside the entrance but some signage pointing the way from the parking lot would be helpful for first-timers. The course is pay-to-play, which is a good thing when you look at all the maintenance that is being done to keep the course tidy and looking good. There seems to be a frequent mowing schedule as the course was neatly cropped in the fairways and the rough was not too terribly tall. Lots of retaining wall and steps to prevent erosion and improves the overall look of the course.

Most of the holes have two tees and two permanent baskets, providing a fair challenge for a wide range of abilities. While the look of the course is spectacular, the actual play of the course is somewhat less so. Could use some more multi-shot holes.

#17, while the most interesting hole to play, does have a safety issue in the form of the parking lot located just to the right of the landing zone at the bottom of the valley. The most desirable route to the basket actually has you throwing over the parking lot and that can be a problem if you turn it right or leave it short.

In all, it's a good round of golf that I certainly don't mind paying to play.

long long throw 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 17, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

awesome grounds, and great course layout. All tee pads are landscaped and makes you feel like a pro each time you tee off. The holes are mix of mid to harder diffaculty. And the view from hole 17 is awesome, Way up on a cliff and 540ft away from the basket shooting of a road and a parking lot towards a lush green lawn is always fun.

Cons:

busy but managable, cost three dollars a round but it didn't look like they were enforcing the pay every round thing.

Other Thoughts:

one of the best courses in minnesota .

Just Awesome 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 13, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

this course has the best mix of shots in the area, superbly maintained and well landscaped, I gained accuracy and distance on my drives because i have finally found the right course that continues to challenge my abilitys, this is the best of the Three Rivers...

Cons:

on some of the holes if you overthrow or go off the fairway there are steep cliffy hills that your disc might slide down, just off the fairways on some of the holes, and like stated before, why do they have to store sand and woodchips in the fairway of both hole #5 and #7

Other Thoughts:

they are doing some construction and i'm excited to see how they redo some of the holes

Bryant Lake 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 11, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Very clean and well maintained
- Good mix on short and long holes
- Great layout for a tight area in which wayward discs do not often cross fairways
- Basket placements vary for right and left fading shots
- World Class terracing and aesthetics
- Multiple pin placements

Cons:

- Crowded at times
- lacks many "wooded holes"

Other Thoughts:

I consider Bryant Lake to be my "Local Course" and I play it on average 3-4 times a week. It has dramatically improved over the last 10 years and I cannot thank the team at Par72 enough for their fantastic work on the new courses in the West Metro.

The Three Rivers Park Distict should also get our gratitude for being big supporters of placing quality disc golf courses on their property. Hopefully more money will be allocated in the future for improvements and new courses. I would love to have a wooded course ala Kaposia on the Westside!!!

Last thought - As some other reviewers have pointed out, Bryant Lake will only improve with time. Clearing the tree line on hole 3 has opened up many throw options for the alternative basket. The new #14 and #15 will be a welcome addition in difficulty and aesthetics!! And...what does the future hold for hole # 8 when the bushes and trees grow another 10 ft in the right rough? That will be one tight fairway!!!

Great course Indeed but not the best 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 7, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Scorecards and Map is exciting in itself
-Easy to follow
-Well marked
-Quality landscaping & scenery
-Good tee pads (not the best)
-Woodchip putting greens (awesome)

Cons:

-$$$ (though it keeps the landscaping better than most courses & we will soon see a day where most courses charge $$ anyways)
-Heavy Crowds
-Some real easy holes some fairly challenging holes

Other Thoughts:

This is a very quality course for the area it is in. I can understand why it recieves such high ratings if the people rate primarily on visuals and have not played around the country. Could be more secluded and more challenging. longer holes and more difficult pin placements could someday make this a legitimate 4.5/5 or even a 5/5 but there are many more courses out their rated lower than a 5 and are better. Still.... Tough to beat the quality of this course.
