I gained some weight and now I am up to 400 freaking pounds (not good). This means I simply can not walk a full round.

However at my local course it is broken up into sections. I am able to go 3 to 5 times a week and play 10 holes.

As long as I can stick to a proper diet. For a complete lifestyle change I should be able to enjoy life again.

I had a friend challenge me to see who can lose the most weight. I mentioned I would be playing disc golf.

Good luck to you. I've lost 30 pounds this summer just watching what I eat and disc golfing.

i know how you feel man. i herniated two discs in my back and was bed ridden for months. it's tough getting back into the groove. getting winded from hills and what not. just keep at it try to get out every day. and increase intensity in small increments. in april i couldn't even finish the front nine without having to take a break. every day i added a hole and now i'm up to about 45 holes a day. just gotta keep grinding.

We all are behind you and support you Friend!!! Eat better, feel better, eat right, feel right. It's gotta start somewhere!

I won't wish you luck, because you don't need it!! WE believe in you!

Good luck man, I too have lost a lot of weight discing..was like 275 this winter and am now 240..lowest I've been in a while.

I lost 100 pounds when I was 20ish and have (for the most part) kept it off. If I can do it, anybody can.

That is awesome. I started to lose a bit then I the person working out with me quit. I should have went on without him. Oh well I will be moving on now. I am only going to focus on one pound at a time. Plus, only weigh myself once a week.

it'll take dedication and hard work, but you have it in you.

good luck!

Yes it will. I am surprised I can even still walk being 400. Although it is rough. Plus not having a job really sucks right now.

That is awesome! I know what you mean. Its pretty sad when I have to let a group of 4 go ahead of me when I am only one person.

Thank you!!! I read a good amount of the 4 hour body and a lot of that book made sense to me. Basically the book has you eating just a few different healthy choices mainly veggies for 6 days. Then on the 7th day you can cut lose and pretty much have at it. Although I think I will still try to limit my portions a tiny bit. I can eat more than a whole pizza to myself in less than a day.

That is freaking awesome. I remember when I was doing great and got down to 275. Then where I used to work they had me work 12 hours all of the time. I was doing the earlier version of P90X and I was dropping weight like crazy along with eating right. Although I am too big to do the workout videos. I just need to worry about small steps first. Take each day at a time and before I will know it I will be a proper weight.

hope everything goes well  .. discin helped me go from well over 200lbs to 150-160lbs.. just eat well and try and get some non disc exercise in there too.. oh and dont forget to bring plenty water with you now that the summer is here.. gl brotha :)

oh and not sure if they are doing it for the summer but i think the dgcr biggest loser just ended but search for the thread..they might have a summer one going on

Good luck sir!! Small meals throughout the day and dont eat late at night!! I wish you the best.

That is what my plan is. Although it is much easier said than done. I am used to eating a whole lot of food at a time.

That is freaking awesome. I lost about 60 pounds when I was 21 that put me at 205 and I felt great. Slowly through out 11 years I put on a staggering 200 pounds and doubled my preferred weight.

I'm not sure what happened. I used to be so strong willed. Now I just let things go. Time to reinvent myself I guess.

I did the same thing when I was 24.... Ive gained 50 back.. but that putts me right at about 196-200 so for 6'2 thats not a bad weight.

I lost it all when I moved back from Minneapolis and stayed with my mom for about 6 months.. I quit drinking beer all the time and everything in the house was fat free or diet versions.. haha.. it was odd.. I was eating as much as normal but i was eating rice cakes and stuff.. worked wonders..

one more thing...

NO SODA!!

EDIT: Keep everyone updated... There is also a DGCR Biggest Loser thread going on right now in the forum with updates from everyone trying to shed some lbs.

I would be elated to get down to 200. At 150 I just would not look right.

I have this thread bookmarked and if I find a better thread I will link it to that one.

I hardly ever drink beer. I never smoke or use any street drugs although I have heard of massive weight loss doing so. My biggest problem is how I eat. If I could just change that. I am sure all or most of my other problems would disappear. Like high BP, high Cholesterol, not being able to keep up with my young kids, and pretty much lost my wife's love due to this weight. Really losing weight is a way to get my life back. I'm jobless and it seems no one wants to hire a fat man.

Yep, easier said than done for sure.

I am pretty active and have always had high metabolism until more recently (25).. I have recently lost interest in some of the foods I used to eat, mostly junk.. I am no vegan but I find that vegetarian dishes are tastier lately.

I couldn't make it thru the day without a few bottles of Naked/Odwalla/Bolthouse... and I tell ya what, Bolthouse is damn good for the price point. Gives you 8 servings of fruits/veggies in one 32oz bottle and is enough to fill you up for a good while and give you positive energy and calories.

I may have to look into that stuff although does it give you a full feeling I tend to not be satisfied and that is why I am where I am.

I used to be an athlete. Being crazy active meant I could eat more than the average person. Then I simply quit being active and maintained how much I was eating. This equals getting very fat.

I'm sure you can gain some muscle if you want. There are a ton of books on the subject. Better yet find a work out buddy.

Calorie counting is where it is at. My wife lost a bunch of weight using "lose-it", it is a great tool. It gives you a calorie budget and factors in exercise, another cool thing is it has the calories of food/dishes at a lot of fast food/take out joints (plus if you have a smart phone you can get the app). Check it out... http://www.loseit.com/

This happened to me too. I was 180ish in my early 20s, and by the time I hit 30 I was looking at 280. I went through the 'divorce diet' and got myself down to about 250, and now I'm sitting around 230 thanks to disc golf. There's no better way to lose weight than doing something you enjoy. I'm down 20 pounds since I started, and I play 18 holes every day. We are all behind you man, and keep us updated as to your weight loss and improvement in the game.
