whats the craziest hole 18 or 24 or 27 or whatever number the last hole on the course is in disc golf?
i havent played too many crazy ones but #24 at stoney creek comes to mind.
998 feet long. tight fairway for the first 300ft then it opens up. kinda makes it tough to get a any distance on your drive and if you 4 this one then you are feeling real good.

hole #18 at elver park in madison wisconsin has a good one too.
490ft air it out hole to finish out the round.

again, Beaver Ranch has a great beginning and Ending.. 1 up the hill, 20 down the hill (I say hill, but most would call it small mountain)

if it's in the long position you have to get out of the woods first. Short position you have the danger of rolling down the hill WAY past the basket.

long position is in the wood chips. probably 75'+ elevation loss and at 9,000+ elevation with wind possibly coming up the valley makes it a very enjoyable hole. Then you get the half mile walk back to your car

Having only recently played DeLaVeaga for the first time, I'll beat the rush to espouse the finishing effect there. Maybe not crazy, but in a high use park, it could be considered crazy if you were to propose it today.

I'm going to use the similarities to a roller coaster first hill. You've played the whole course, yet you've heard about the big finish with this course. You play all the way through 23 then cross the road. 24 - no problem, drive, then walk it out.

"click click click" goes the roller coaster chain.

You get to 25, throw, and all you hear is "click click click click" chugging up the steep sisyphean hill. Heart is pounding as you've climbed, now in synch with the anticipation building.

26 is an ominous ridgeline hole... like the calm before the drop. Way too quiet, but you see the open sky at the end.

Walk up to the back of the bench and teepad there... last gasp... then...

......wwwooooshhh!

parking lot!!!

ok, time to ride it again please.

Hole 18 at fairfield is 842 feet. The longist hole in IL. The tee is elevated about 30ft then about 350 feet down the fairway there is a hill that comes back up to about the same elevation as the tee. It then plays very slightly down hill for the remaining 500 or so feet. There is no pic of 18 Here on dgcr. I'll have to fix this next time I'm there.

Highbridge Hills Granite Ridge #18. 650 ft and uphill the whole way. This hole will wear anyone out.

Agreed, that hole is brutal.

#18 at Charlie Vettiner is 612' from the long tee and is shaped in a big V.

Good thread, I love when the last hole can have a huge impact between winning and losing- where it is possible to have a multiple shot swing.

I popped into this thread to mention Granite Ridge #18, but I see this idea evolved independently of my own on at least two separate occurrences.

Also, the finishing hole (#2) at Kops Park.

The craziest one in the Twin Cities is probably Hyland Hills #18. 710 feet down a steep ski slope. Woods off to the left as you get closer to the bottom which you can easily lose a disc in.

Unless you are in shape you may still be catching your breath from hole #14, which is 545 feet and up an even steeper slope.

For those who easily throw 400', hole #18 on the Whippin' Post in Paw Paw, WV might not be that big of a deal. But for me, throwing 400' isn't even possible unless I'm throwing down hill. So the 402", down hill finisher at the Whippin' Post does it for me. Your drive has to carry about 388' to clear the water with the basket just about a dozen feet from the edge of the pond. Of course, I lay up most of the time. :( Very fun closer!

You think that's impressive, try #18 at High Country (Ashe County) in Jefferson, NC. It's a 818 foot hole with 140 foot drop. Oh yeah, and you're in the woods, with a 20 - 30 foot wide fairway the entire way down.

I'm going with Diamond X as being number two behind Loki... so to speak.

wow, replace those with pine trees and it's a spitting image of Beaver Ranch.. small gap, long drop, very cool holes! :hfive:

YES... this one.

This pic doesn't show the entire hole. After you get to the opening, if you can get to the opening, you have another 300' to the right across a huge rolling grass field.

*Edit* And, I want to say that this pic is from the short tee-pad. It's almost 400' to get out of the woods, down a 45* angle slope, through about a 25' wide gap the entire way, and with a ceiling at the bottom that you must go under. And again, that's only half the hole.

I loved your review of Diamond X haha awesome. Or was it the Taco Bell?!

Jordan Creek in Whitehall, PA. Hole 18 takes you down a hill, over two water hazards and plays OB all along the left side of the fairway. Probably my favorite hole I've ever played.

^^ Jordan creek's 18 is pretty cool! The first time I played it I definitely shanked my drive off the tee.. It's a tough 3.
