OK...I'm going to say it... I hope no one gets mad at me... But,
Coyote Point is NOT the best course in California. I don't think people from Coyote Point think Coyote Point is the best course in California. Coyote Point isn't even the best course in Southern California. Don't want to belittle anyone's pick, I just don't want any of my fellow DGCR'rs to plan a vacation around playing Coyote Point. It's a good course to hit if you are driving north from LA, but not the best.

Since, I have played over 50 California courses I think I am qualified to say that... Stafford Lake is the best course in California. It's everything Coyote Point wants to be and much much more.

CA - DeLaVeaga
CO - Johnny Roberts
MO - Sioux Passage
IL - McNaughton Park
NC - Richmond Hill
VA - Hawk Hollow

Oh Yeah...
And Milo is the best course in Oregon. I don't understand how it has slipped behind Whistler's in the Top 10 list on the home page... somehow, that was a mistake.

I've played 13ish Oregon courses, including Pier Park, Whistler's Bend, and Adair... so I feel somewhat qualified to speak for Oregon. Even though it kicked my ass! - Milo!

As for the other states I have played in... I don't think I've played enough courses to say whats what. I'll let you know how I feel about North Carolina when I get 20 or so under my belt here.

This was a fun exercise, but it sure is subjective. Everyone is limited by the number of courses played. Also, what is my favorite is related to my player level, not necessarily to the quality of the course. Still fun to look back on nonetheless. It sure was tough to narrow down NC to just 1 course, though.

"Well that's just, like, your opinion, man."

Don't worry. No offense taken but did you single out Coyote Point when there's obviously so many more Cal courses that people feel so strongly about?

I would still argue that Lake Casitas is a great destination course. The PDGA seemed to agree in an article on "Destination Disc Golf Adventure Courses".

Don't get me wrong. I don't have as many courses under my belt as you do. I would love to play Stafford Lake. It looks awesome.

I think Casitas is a great destination course. In fact... it was one of the last courses I played in California before I left for North Carolina.

When I said "only play it if your traveling north from LA"... that was meant as a roadtrip advisory statement. If I was in LA for only a few days (for business or something) I would rather play OG and Sylmar (or) LaMi and Huntington... as opposed to wasting most of my day driving to and from Casitas. (although, evergreen open space and Casitas is a good day).

I was strictly trying to help the roadtrippin disc golfer such as myself.

all i've played is what we played in rochester for worlds in 99- ellison was definitely pick of the litter there.

it would be a nice course if it weren't for the craters used as tees..i haven't been back since i twisted an ankle...hard to tee from a hole..they have worlds in 2011 and supposedly concrete will be poured soon...this has been an ongoing battle with the park

VA - Walnut Creek is the single best course I've played. The Grange would be my favorite destination (54 holes), haven't played Hawk Hollow yet
MD - Seneca. It and Patapsco have a real good race going on with all of the improvements underway to both courses
CA - Delaveaga
WA - Ft. Steilacoom
TX - Circle C Ranch
Too many new courses in DE and PA I haven't played to vote on them yet.

Only played 2 states, hoping to add more by this time next year.

CA - Morley Field, San Diego.
IL - Douglas Park, Springfield.

OH - 4 played (6 if you count the 2 in MI that are less than 5 minutes from OH and are maintained by OH DGers) - Great Blue Heron, Norwalk

MI - 12 Played - I know I'm supposed to say Hudson Mills here (haven't played Flip), but I had more fun at Fitzgerald in Grand Ledge

FL - 1 Played - T2: The Turkeynator at Bill Frederick Park, Orlando

I have only played in NC, but have played everything 3+ east of Burlington.

My fave is Barnet Park in Kinston, with Castle Hayne and Zebulon close behind.

I need to get to the Charlotte area and also in the mountains.
