Disc golf shoes

I would suggest shoes from Keen, Merrell or Patagonia. Keen are really good for the toe protection and waterproofing but the rubber doesnt last too long. Merrell are great as well if you get the goretex ones but make sure you get some with some thick soles because they will wear through pretty quick. I had a par that lasted about 3 monthes before I tore through them, but merrell replaced them for free so im still pretty happy.

Those, my friend, are some sweet shoes..definitely got me thinking about them.New Balance to me has the most comfortable/consistent shoe. I usually only buy New Balance for just everyday wear because I work at a factory so I'm on my feet 12 hours a day. Throw some insoles in my New Balance for extra padding and they don't hurt til I get home and take the friggin' things off lol! And you cant beat the price, NB seems to also stay in between $50-$80 so cant beat that.

Just to update I don't know that the NB's I posted that you're referencing will hold up very well for DG. I've had to make a slight repair to the sole of mine the other day. (thanks shoe goo).

A peice of the sole that's under my left big toe came unglued. Basically exactly the part of my foot that pushes my weight forward on to my right foot.

But I still contend that New Balance makes awesome shoes and as far as running and walking those will probably hold up awesome. I'd probably buy another pair as backups if I had the cash right now because they're so comfortable

I just bought these... they are AMAZING!! Comfortable, durable and... WATERPROOF. I threw my disc into a swamp zone and i was able to march right over and pick it up and move on. Awesome suggestion :clap::thmbup::thmbup:

Dude they are so money. The only complaint I have is that they're heavy. Not so much a complaint as how hiking shoes are made.

I'm on my 3rd pair of keens in 2 years. 1st pair I wore almost every day for a year and played probably 200 rounds of golf in them and the only problem was my dogs chewed the pull tab and laces up. 2nd pair I received last Xmas and wore just about everyday until a couple weeks ago when I won a new pair of delavegas at the gbo. The second pair was a model that had some raised grip on the soles that wrapped up the sides and I did have a problem with some delamination of those. I talked to the keen rep at the gbo and he said that all keen shoes have a 1year warranty and to take a picture, upload it on their website and they would send me a shipping label to send them back and replace them or just go ahead and send me a new pair. The delavegas however are flatter on tje soles and i dont see having any delamination as a problem. Plus they are super comfortable. Keens are by far not the cheapest on the market but personally I think they are worth every penny. Add to that what all they do as far as getting involved in our wonderful sport, they will get my business over and over again.

I bought some Keens a little over a month or so ago, and the sole on my right shoe/pivot foot is very well worn already. Some chunks have actually been torn off. They are still ok for now, I love how the shoes fit, but at this rate I'll have to buy another pair before summer even gets here.

I need to find my receipt and see if Keen thinks this is normal for their product.

Forgot to mention my friend got a pair of Delavegas for Chirstmas, and they are almost worn out. He went over a month straight in that time frame without even playing disc golf. He's glued a few places on his shoes. He said that Keen was going to send him a new pair, but he hasn't heard back from them.

Keen has not won me over at all.

Since I can't edit my first post any longer...

I just found my receipt, bought the Targhee II's on 3/28. I've only had two outings a week since then in less than a month, with several of those being on natural tee's. If this is typical for $120+ shoes, I might as well stick with $30 Wal Mart shoes.

Quit dragging your feet, its bad form. Improve your form, improve your shoes life expectancy. Just saying. I used to drag my feet when I started and blew through shoes every couple of months as well. Fixed that and improved my game while I was at it.

You cant, I always wore the inside toe out from dragging it through. I just got off a 16 hour shift so later today I will post pics of all 3 pairs and then post pics of the current delavegas in a month. To help this dragging I slowed my approach down, cleaned my steps up and focused on foot work. As a result I throw more accurate.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if he's not dragging his foot and he's pivoting on the sole of his shoe and it's wearing out I'd say that's the shoe tread wearing out from the pivoting. Not really from bad form. If you drag the toe or whatever and mess up the top/front of your shoe you can change that. Nothing you can do to not walk/pivot on the bottom of your shoe though.

Get the Wenger's I posted a couple of pages back from REI outlet if you're in the market for a new pair of DG shoes on the cheap that are well made. If I dropped $120 on a pair of shoes that are 'designed' for disc golf that were coming apart I wouldn't be too happy either.

Keens don't last. They don't mind sending replacements though because it's a 20 dollar shoe that they charge 120 for.

Teva Riva eVents!!!

not only is it a cool sounding name, they are fuggin rockhard shoes!

And how have the soles held up?

Really well actually. I've seen the Keen disc golf shoes in shreds, but the other Keen hiking shoes are really good for DG. Just got a pair of the Tryons and will see how they hold up. Fortunately, I can return them for a different pair of Keens if they fall apart.

I've been really happy with this pair of Garmont.

They are durable, waterproof(Gore-Tex), and they don't make my feet hot like the Merrells did.

BTW, stay away from the Merrell Moabs. They are also Gore-Tex, but have a known issue with leaking and later splitting around the soles. The Garmonts are not cheap, but you really do get what you pay for.

I started out with Salomons but they wore out really fast and also didn't fit well after I lost a bunch if weight. I won some Keens and got Targhee II mids and loved the fit and features and durability, but they were really heavy. My non- gortex Merrells are much lighter, but not waterproof. I want to try Delavegas next. I just wonder if the Delavegas are heavy or lightweight. Meanwhile, these Merrells are lasting forever. :-(

Just got these columbia northbend shoes the other day at Dicks's for $60+tax.

So far (3 rounds) they have been breaking in quite nicely, though my only concerns when I was looking at them were the lacing loops, and the grippy rubber 'spikes' on the soles. I drag my toe just enough that the lace loops gave me concern, but I can clean that up. And the rubber on the soles is really soft, and seems like it may wear down quicker than I want, but only time will tell how these hold up, I'll keep you guys posted.

THIS. I had a pair of keens as my first real pair of DG shoes. I wore them out and went on to find the next shoe I was going to wear. I went through about 3 or 4 pairs of shoes in 2 years searching for a good pair with a solid sole. I found some saucony trail runners that were pretty awesome, but they were not waterproof. So those early morning dewy rounds, my feet are soaked, or any amount of rain and Im screwed.

So a couple of weekend ago I picked up the Delas from Keen at the DD shop in Emporia, and Im never looking back. These shoes are so comfy and perfect for disc golf, I'm willing to drop the cash every 18 months for a new pair. Considering I play almost everyday, I get my money worth for sure.
