Model Golfer

^^ if anything I may be a little jealous that I don't get throw as much as she does. However, being an average looking guy, I never have to worry if people are only paying attention to me because I am considered beautiful. How many average looking women are out there making there way up through the ranks that are not getting this much attention? I don't know and don't really care, I just decided to chime in on this thread for a bit of a distraction from work today.

Holly, for playing only 7 months, im very impressed with the things you've done. Keep up the good work because you will be very good for the sport.

Most of us males here are trying to help grow the sport as much as we can and a good way is helping out the womens division. There is a big womens event here in michigan this weekend and alot of the pros will be coming out to have some fun and raise money for a good cause. We should really appreciate that these girls are going a pretty far distance from home to play this womens events and that holly is traveling long distances just to get plastic.

My buddy and I are caddying for Paige and Catrina too so the tournament should be a fun time!

Bubba Watson got his name on PDGA.com and he's not even current.

Ben Askren had an article written about him in DG Magazine (by a brilliant writer I might add :D) and outside of a high rating, had really not accomplished much in the sport.

Anyone who is known outside of the DG world for something not related to DG is going to draw attention. It just happens to be in this case that her attention has to do with her looks because of her profession. Catrina Allen doesn't get the attention that she does because Catrina Allen isn't a professional model and therefore isn't known outside of DG.

Holly's looks don't directly have to do with her attention - if you think there aren't women out there dressing or accessorizing the same way, you're an idiot. Her attention comes from being known outside of DG. It just happens in this case that the reason she is known outside of DG is her looks, but it's no different than a guy who is on the PGA Tour or a MMA fighter.

Exactly. The point of the article is that someone in a "glamorous" profession is not only playing and doing well at disc golf tournaments around the region, but she has also felt very welcome. The article not only paints disc golf in a positive light by showing just how nice people tend to be but it also shows that someone in a profession that has the stereotype of being snotty ditzes is also just a regular person who has fun hobbies just like the rest of us. You'd expect a fashion model to be lounging at the pool, playing tennis or playing ball golf at a fancy country club but she'd rather play an inexpensive sport in public parks with "regular" people and she's felt very welcome. I don't get why there would be any negative views towards the situation or the article.

Thanks to my wife, I'm a famous Etsy model. :|

Looking sharp!

The conversation went something like this:

Me: What do you want me to do?

My wife: I don't know. Look down or something.

Me: Why?

My wife: I don't know. That's just what they do.

You have this like half smirk too like..."Why am I wearing this coat in the summer" :)

I did not make any comments about her sense of style. You obviously haven't read all fifteen pages of this thread. I, along with 95% of humanity, think she is hot and don't give a crap what she is wearing. As far as her being a well known person outside of disc golf, is there anyone on this site that knew of her before she became a disc golfer? Most likely not.

It turns out I work for the author ( I maintain his lawn, and he is thrilled with our service, which is nice) of this article and I know Holly personally. I have contacted him to let him know I am more than willing to get him any information he wants about the game to continue to help us push the sport further and gain more attention. He want's to wait a little bit before publishing it so that it doesn't look like he has taken over disc golf as his only source of stories, which I totally understand. I told him about my plans to push forward with a disc golf course design company and my obvious passion for the sport too, so I will see where this takes me. I hope it will help gain exposure for my company, but first and foremost Ijust hope it helps draw attention to the game and the great things we do and the great people out there.

Of course not, I don't follow fashion nor do I really care to. I also had no idea who Ben Askren was either before disc golf because I don't follow MMA or College Wrestling nor do I really care to.

But we don't matter. We know what disc golf is. We love disc golf.

But to the people that DO like fashion, they know her and they follow her and they are interested in what she's doing. That's the difference.

I like his style. Mash the food with the handle and then scoop it up with the spoon.

Looks, good or bad, won't help in Disc Golf.
The basket/disc/wind don't care about your looks.
It's a great equalizer.
If I may correct the prevailing thought on parts of this thread, it might be more accurate to state that if she was hot and a model and played disc golf poorly, nobody would care. It's her skill and ability that draws attention to her appearance, not the other way around.

If she's won tourneys for her score, she deserves the win. That has nothing to do with her appearance.
