The Ask MJ & Comet Love Thread

Freaking AWESOME! I thought it would be a 4 at least on the Web layout, considering how mean McDaniel is, LOL. I always forget to check it.

Speaking of Stan "Design Devil" McDaniel, I take it from an earlier question that maybe your not always 100% on board with his patented sphincter tingling basket locations? No hate here. Just curious. I actually 6 putted 17 at the Nest once.

I love his pin placements. Making the upshots as difficult if not more difficult than the drives makes holes that much better.

I watched a guy on my card 5-putt 17 at a tournament last summer. His putting was off all day so he was being smart and laid up all round until we got to that hole and he decided he was "feeling it". Bad pin placement to test that theory on. Sometimes you just have to know when to lay up.

No doubt. 17 is devious because it SEEMS almost normal...till you blow by it twice, dink one off the belt and rollrollroll, etc...

most of stan's i really like!! I've seen some at some places that people do that are a bit much, but i like a challenge!! I've 6 putted both 8 and 9 at the nest before :)

I almost always lay up on 9. It's just too high up for me to confidently run. If I'm not confident about a putt I just lay it up every time.

One time I put my drive half way up that hill side. Looking straight up, I tried to jam my putter in there but it just hit the top of the chains and kicked back to my feet, sliding back to the base of the hill. Again, looking straight up, I barely see chains so I try my best to get the putter up there and it once again hits the chains up high and the tension kicks it back out. This time it rolled away and I was probably 20-25ft out which made it much easier and I banged my putt for 4. That was the only hole I missed a putt inside the circle that whole round. I should have just picked up my drive, and placed it on the other side of the pin (don't even have to throw it from that distance) to drop in the 3.

I'll never forget Barry having a fun time on that hole on that Clash DVD.

Like holes 3 and 10 at Bradford. Stan wanted to put them on the boulders but park department wouldn't let him. :(
But hole 10 is still fun behind the rock!

That's why private land is sometimes better. Hole 10 at Brackett's Bluff anyone?

Hole 13 at Akita's Run in Missouri is fun too.

It drops off even worse on the back side. If you airball that putt you might not find your putter.

OK, THAT is ridonkulous! Retrieving the putter from the basket's like "belay on!"

Trophy Lakes in SC has that short hole where the "blue" basket is hanging from a branch (with a clever counterweight to get ur disc,) and the "red" basket is buried in the ground.

I'm to stubborn to layup on that hole!!! :)

on the clash dvd you can probably see mee in the woods laughing during barry's fun on that hole, cause i've had the same fun as him and it is pure disc golf fun!!!!!!

What mentally do you do before big tournaments/rounds to prepare yourself?

Do you have any object that you always play with?

i really dont do much, i treat it as any other day of golf and rely on the practice and experience i have to be what i rely on and trust.

I have used the same mini for every round of golf for the last 3 years, its my good luck charm!! Good old Charlotte Womens League Mini! :D
