[Innova] Whats the best Innova midrange for a beginner?

The Wolf

*ducks rotten tomatoes*

What can I say? I like the disc and it does what I want when I throw it. I'd go with something understable. Stingray is certainly right in the middle of the pack as far as how understable if you look at the InBounds Flight Guide. I liked my Panther before I lost it last weekend, but it's only available in Champion plastic.

I'm planning to add an X Buzzz (already have a Z), some Comets for form practice, a Flying Squirrel and a Leopard to my bag very soon. Yeah, the Leopard isn't a mid, but I was already enjoying the lightweight DX one I found for my daughter and now I'm taking the overwhelming opinion I found on the net of Pro plastic Leopard for the next version to try.

I can see the wolf being good for a beginner, but I started with a 180 roc and loved it. You can't go wrong with a dx roc.

skeeter is the best beginner disc by innova
wolf is a close second
I think the Mako the Roc etc will frustrate as they go where they are thrown which is tough on a beginner lol it was for me

IMHO Discraft has the best range of mids by far. For a beginner you can't go wrong with a Buzzz SS. The Buzzz is great too but requires more power to go straight. The best mid ever made is probably the Comet however... unbelievable what that disc can do.

If it has to be Innova, the best neutral mid they make is the Millennium branded QMS...

Everyone will say Roc or Buzzz even though Gateway's Element is a better beginner midrange than both of those, in my opinion. Don't limit yourself to the Coke and Pepsi of disc golf and you might just like the taste of an Element.

Roc3 170 range. I started with a DX Roc but i think a Champion Roc3 will last longer and teach the person proper form easier.

a disc to understable will teach a person to hyzer flip everything and something to over stable makes the flex everything. a disc thats straight with minimal fade will be perfect

168-172g dx Roc.

A Roc is the best midrange period, so it goes without saying that it'd be the best for a beginner.

^How do you pick a Cro and a Meteor when they have entirely different flights?

>Insert favorite mold here<

Not sure where I said they were the same in their flight. Cro because I hadn't seen it listed yet, and I believe it to be a decent beginner disc if the OP wants Innova. And Meteor because of all the mids I've tired nothing has been close enough to replacing any of my Discraft mid/approach lineup. That's how :)

I used a Shark and it was so dead straight for me that I bought a second. I've been playing for about a year and the Shark is still my get-out-of-trouble mid and it's still dead straight. I prefer max weight DX.

Can't really argue with him, I think he may know what he's talking about....

I agree about the cobra but to say Paul don't know discs is hopefully a joke

I think we can safely assume it was a joke.

It is interesting though, I absolutely expected to come in here and see everyone saying roc and thats definitely not the case.

I was told to use a Roc when starting out last year.

Do yourself a favor and buy these three discs...DX 169 Roc, DX 172 Stingray and a DX 170 Cobra and go to a field and just throw them and see how they fly for you. Do not go into the course and start throwing them immediately because you will hit trees and change the flight characteristics without knowing what these discs can do in mint condition. Learn what these discs do when releasing them on certain angles..hyzer, flat, anhyzer, etc.. Once you know what they will do when released a certain way, then go to the course and try to throw with what you have learned with each disc. All three of these discs have huge distance potential if thrown correctly.

I agree with Comet also but that can be a tricky disc and drive you crazy if you don't understand proper form quite yet (meaning the entire process of throwing correctly...not strong arming it). I disagree with the champ roc suggestion only because for most beginners the roc3 will be a bit too overstable and they too will be throwing the flex shot with it.

By no means do you just have to go with all Innova!! But in my opinion those three discs can be in your bag forever once you get the hand of them.
