For shots that are too short for a mid-range disc, but not quite a putt, I've been using a JK Yeti Pro Avair. Generally, I put some hyzer on it to bring it into the left side of the basket and can usually put it right where I want it until.....the bounce. I swear 80% of the time the damn thing bounces and rolls.

What I'm looking for is an upshot disc that'll stick where it lands with little to no bounce.

Thanks.

Dynamic discs classic soft judge, low profile, soft tacky plastic and it sticks exactly where it lands even in smooth dirt. Trust me, go with a soft judge

Vibram VP. Loves finding the ground. And get a soft if you want it plaster itself to the ground.

RFF plastic from Gateway is a good choice for sticking the landing. I haven't thrown it, but I imagine Vibram Soft would be also.

Of course you could also flatten out your throw so you don't bounce. That's the easier, and cheaper solution.

Polecat. Why settle for just landing near the basket when you can take a run at it too?

But....but...I'm looking for that magic disc that will fix all my flaws. In seriousness I find I generally overpower it with flatter throw.

The point is, I don't want to take a run at it. At the distance I'm talking I have no confidence in making a run at it, I want it to land in drop in. With my JK it's hitting that spot, but the bouncing and/rolling 15+ feet away.

My Eco1 Swan almost always lands with a whimper. Doesn't tend to bounce and roll like some putters. But part of that is how it is thrown. I have been using a DD Suspect for some approach duties lately. So far it is a winner. A little OS and hasn't bounced and rolled on me yet.

...cue the curse. I'll probably get a 50' roll this week now. :wall:

I've been there. The solution is to fan your grip as much as possible. You can also put a little anny on it to have it straighten out.

If you're going to throw hyzers for short upshots, you're going to have bounces and that leads to the possibility of roll aways. No disc, except maybe a blowfly, will prevent those bounces.

Get a Polecat (or Rattler, Sonic, et cetera) and you'll get the confidence. It's like playing catch with the basket. Easy to range, easy to throw straight and easy to lay up if you want to. Unlike most conventional putters with rounded edges, the blunt edge of the Polecat grabs the ground like rubbing snake scales the wrong way. The only real downside is if it's windy you'll want to throw a mid or driver instead (if it's properly windy you ought to do that anyway) unless you learn how to play the wind.

Or just learn how to flatten your Aviar so it doesn't hit the ground at such a steep angle.

Premium Jokeri works for me. Predictable overstable flight, and sticks near where it lands. Great grippy plastic, soft but not floppy.

It's been echoed already a few times. If you're not going to run the chains, then make it land flat. This is what I do with my Ions. I'll give them a touch of anny, and they fade back and nestle right under the basket, every time. Did you watch Worlds? Paul and Will were doing this all day long. Learn to finesse it.

Ah, too late to edit...obviously more players than just Paul and Will finesse the upshot. I was just giving an example. Anyway...carry on...

There's nothing wrong with your Yeti. Just learn to moderate your power on those shots. I do a jump putt/step putt form for approaches, and then just a Beato/right pec drill type throw if it's out of that range. Basically just add more and more reach back as ya move out.
