2014 Tourney Videos

If a person throws an overstable disc on an anny line, and it fades back left; would you also call that a hyzer?

To answer your question, no, I would call that an anny or an ess curve. Again -- no expert.

To get away from the semantics, now that the expert has helped this noob with terms, which of Paul's 18 drives wasn't a rhbh hyzer release? I mean -- there's even 2 upshots in there that also looked incredibly fluffernuttery to these untrained eyes . . . again, just saying. He missed a putt . . . slacker.

about half were actual hyzer type shots-- nothing really like some of the crazy spike hyzers you saw from other players. Many shots, like hammer said he was mostly just throwing the discs and letting their stability do the work.

No wonder us noobs watching this stuff on video think we're experts!! It looked like waaayyyy more than half were released with the left side of the disc angled down -- I've only seen the video though and I only know lots and lots about geometry, not disc golf, so when I learned "hyzer" was the angle of release I assumed there must be some other way that the angles are getting measured . .. my monitor must be set on "fluffernutters" and not radians . . or are hyzers a degree term? What's the fluffernutter/radian/degree conversion factor? There must be some serious optical illusions going on with the camera. :)

When you were there were you using a protractor or sexton? :)

We need ESPN to do one of those scientific analysis to show how the camera skews the actual angle of release and at the same time makes the disc appear to only fly right-to-left from McBeth's hand when in actuality it's leaving his hand flat and while it seems to go left to right it's because of the magnetic pull of the fountain.

My favorites are usually the no commentary/no music videos, but it's nice to get the occasional disc info from the CCDG guys.

I'd love it if Feldburg started doing commentary.
that would be awesome.

can we stop having really dumb arguments in the tourney thread now?

...for the record a fluffernutter is when you hold the disc upside down with a tomahawk grip and putt

Terry's coverage of the back 9 of the final round is finally up. You can really tell how much the players just stopped caring and were only throwing to get the tournament over with. This wasn't as apparent in Marty's video.

The difference between 2nd and 4th is thousands of dollars. I think it just feels a bit more somber due to the rain and the large decrease in gallery size.

No, you can tell they are discouraged and towards the end they don't even bother taking their time. Seems different than just a rainy tourney where things are quiet.

I think they cared; but, you know, not too much ('cause it's a little wet out there). Loved Paul's closing "He's the disc golf guy ..." Wonder if that was improv or scripted.

my one complaint about marty's vid was the music reminded me of a funeral, although the tourney was called the memorial...

No, you can't. What you CAN tell is they are playing faster due to it pouring rain. Astute observation, sir. The difference between 2nd and 4th was more than two of these players have ever won in a tournament, and your stance is that they "stopped caring." Oh, alright.

:D I thought the same thing. Marty's videos are my favorite (DGG CCDG DGM are all great too) but that was some sad music.
