[Discmania] Official Ask Discmania Thread

I've noticed that Dynamic Discs doesn't have a very wide selection of Discmania discs in their stores or online...I was just curious if they are going to stop carrying your products or what? It seems that they haven't restocked Discmania discs in quite some time and the only ones still around are the less-popular molds. Don't get me wrong, I love the new online store but sometimes its nice to feel them up in person. And thanks for answering all our questions rarintal!

The new Flat Jolly Launcher ones are. Especially in the weights of 170-175.

I had a yellow Jolly C-MD2 in 175g and it wasn't as flat and straight flying as I wanted it to be (and now it's in a bottom of a river..) I also have an old R-Pro MD2 in 171g which flies really nice, but because of the light weight and the fact that it's quite beaten, it sometimes has too much of turn. So now I need a bit more stable flying MD2, but don't really know if I'm actually getting a flat one if I order online (can't find any flat ones on local stores). I also have C-MD3 but it has too much fade. So I would really love if Discmania could provide us those perfect flat and straight flying MD2's, just like the original flat C-MD2's were and those R-Pro MD2's. Because those are getting really hard to find.

Or is there any difference in flatness between colors in 170-175 weights? Also flat S-MD2 would be gold.

Another question is about FD's. I have S-FD which is perfect for turnovers and also 175g 3rd run C-FD, which tends to have a bit too much fade than I'd want it to have. Should I try lighter one, maybe around 167-171g or try a G-FD for more dead straight lines?

P.S. I would also love to see more of those gummy TD's, one of my favourite discs and those are also getting hard to find.

Were you able to throw any of the 150 class discs before the team flew out? Any mold you were surprised by at that weight?

Yes, the D-LINE P2's were actually really overstable, I could almost say it was more than the 175g big brother. And of course the S-LINE PD's flew crazy good. If you go over to thespintv.com there's point in the newest Japan Open video where Jussi offers Simon 10k to hit a long ace. Simon threw a S-LINE PD and it looked like it went a long ways!

I don't want to steal Ryan's thunder, he will have good info for this, but I can say that the 150 PD's are popular out here.

Yeah, I bet everyone wished they had them :)

I'm a pretty big fan of the 157 G*PD I've been fooling around with lately.

The G-LINE PD is really good disc. How does it fly compared to other PD's?

I don't know enough about that store to give you a answer. With the overwhelming support there is for Discmania discs you might see them get some more.

My 150-157 FD's are great! I need to score a few more and a PD!

we have some light weight "early run" S-LINE PD's on the Discmania Store right now.

If you are looking for the Flattest and Straightest flying of the MD2's we have these Orange and Yellow ones that are in between 170-173 grams at the Discmania Store. We have been testing these out recently and they seem to be the straightest of the ones we have thrown. These discs would be exactly what I believe you are looking for. We will keep the S-LINE MD2 information you have provided for the future.

About the FD. It sounds like you could use either a 172g First Run C-LINE FD, a 172-175 G-LINE FD, or like you stated a 171g C-LINE Jolly Launcher FD. If you are buying from the Discmania Store and buying the Jolly Launcher FD I would select a 171 Orange Jolly Launcher C-LINE.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for all the questions guys! what else is out there?

-Ryan

Are the first run P2's similar to current runs? And any restocks of G PD's and G FD's coming soon?

I know you are the US rep specifically but could you elaborate a little on why there are such astounding amounts of extra yummy products in your store and hardly any of the same goodies at innovastore.net? I.e. what is the big picture of the EUR/US Discmania retail scheme?

I am just anxious to get all the mini shields, FRFs etc. :)

The funny thing is...I think it's a "grass is always greener..." thing.

I had someone want to buy the discmania shirt off my back, literally I was wearing it, because he couldn't get it in the US...we weren't the same size.

Yes we do!

I will have to check out the s-line pd!

Are there any plans in the future to run more pd's without the plus mold rim? I got a hold of an older s line pd that is not plus rimmed and it is a great flyer. I have not had the chance to throw a newer s-line pd that has a plus mold rim, do they fly any differently?

The only plus-rimmed PDs are the second-run C-PDs.

What's the best plastic in your (and the discmania pros') opinion to putt with? I've been using d-line but getting a lot of spit outs even with simple low power putts. How well does the new g-line work for putting?

I am not a pro, but did change over to G-P2 just because of this. Over the weekend played 97 holes of disc golf and almost all approaches and putts were with this green FR G-P2. Great success. Will be getting a bunch more when it goes to regular production (it will, wont it?)

Is there an easy way to tell? I have a C-PD and I really don't have another PD to compare it to. Nor have I ever owned another plus molded disc... so I wouldn't really even know where to start.
