[Westside] Westside Longbowman

Just pulled mine out of the mailbox.
Beautiful bright pink, and pretty damn flat.
Feels great in the hand also.
But I can tell by looking at it, it's going to be very beefy for this noodle arm.

Perhaps the jaded derision of Trilogy flight numbers will become a thing of the past

Mine are on their way, got 2 VIPs en route and I'm still gonna be looking for a TP, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Anyone who throws these and Teebirds, how do these compare? I'm not expecting this disc to be like a Teebird, but I'm hoping they might go to the left of the Teebird in my bag to finally round out my fairway rotation.

I know these are speed 9, but a lot of people are saying they don't go far and dump hard so I'm thinking of just treating it like a fairway

I am going to get out for a short while today.
I need to get a few throws on this thing to see how overstable it is.
I hope it will go a little ways before dumping to the ground.
I have a pretty big gap in my bag between the saint pro and the xxx, that I have been using the PD to fill.
I hope this will replace it.
It's supposed to be very windy tomorrow for our team golf round.

Just got a couple of throws in with a VIP Longbowman. It's certainly over stable for me but it goes straight much further than a fresh Felon or XXX. For me it will be filling an empty slot between a Saint Pro and a Felon. Great disc!

We have team golf tomorrow and they are talking about steady 20mph winds and gusts of 40-60 mph
I think it will see more use than my saints

I have 175g TP Longbowman and a 175g Opto Culverin. Flight-wise I really can't tell a difference. They landed within a 3m circle. They feel different though. The Longbowman has a very flat top, the rim isn't the most common - see the pictures above. I actually do prefer the Longbowman over the Culverin (but I also have no issue with the Blitz or Riot).
Compared to SaintPro, Stag, Northman, Striker both of them are more overstable without an uncomfortable fade at the end. You can turn them over in a headwind, but they never get lost all the way, or at least they put up a fight. You can produce nice flex shots - but you have to give them quite a bit of anhyzer on the release. Released flat you either need headwind or more power than me to make them turn.
Compared to the xXx (I don't have a Felon) they feel a lot less utility disc. Longer, more glide. They should fill the Spot between the SaintPro, Striker... perfectly.
I can''t compare to PD, Thunderbird, FD, I never had one of those.
For reference - they went between 80-100m for me.

^you must be from Europe somewhere cause I can't find a Tournament Longbowman anywhere!

We only got the VIP ones over here in the states, and I want a Tournament plastic one so bad

I am - about 1200km from the factory...

I posted a link to a shop in Finland and Sweden - no idea if they ship to the US for people in need ;)
Edit: actually they do and costs aren't too bad: http://www.discsport.eu/page/shipping/region/2
No idea if you have to pay customs...

My buddies was extremely flat and forehandable, less os than a felon, slightly more than a CPD, but def felt more like a FAF TB than a PD. The rim felt in between the two, speed 7-8 or so. Great very OS fairway perfect for FH hyzers too.

These sound real similar to the second run FD's. Seem like a solid disc, I might try to pick one up.

Good news for you...TP Longbowman are being released in the US next Friday. I'd imagine some places will have them available for pre-order soon, if they don't already.

Thank you JC!

I figured that Westside would bring the TP Longbowman out here, but I figured it would take longer than a few weeks.

Gonna snag one to match with my 2 VIPs, I like that they have the flat top like the FAF Firebirds, but I like the hand feel of these more and they're not as beefy as those firebirds, so this disc really works for me

This is what awesome looks like

Still havent been able to give these a REAL workout. Planning tomorrow to give it a whirl against some Teebirds, PDs, FD3, Raptor and an old KC Pro Banshee. See where it falls under the spectrum. Also going to work on cleaning up my form because I'm really not getting the overstability y'all are posting about. And here at Colorado elevation usually my discs are MORE overstable.

I havent been playing as much as usual so its probably a case of the OATs brought on by not playing much and not being used to a new disc. So I'll focus on that for sure. Also going to be testing the Catapult for real as well.

Mine isn't FB stable.
It actually flies somewhere before a good soild fade.
FB s don't go anywhere for me.

The more I've thrown this disc, the less over stable it seems. With full power, it's really just a straight flyer. I don't see a Firebird comparison at ALL! Not even Felon. As I said before, I'm really seeing an Eagle like flight or a Prodigy F2.

Then again, I've never claimed clean form! ;)

Brand new, most trilogy discs I've thrown start out relatively over stable for the first week, then they settle into straighter flyers.

So, it's finally warming up a bit over here and for the first time I got to throw the Longbowman from a dry surface. I had one 171g VIP, one 169g TP and a 169g Opto Culverin with me.

First of all, the Culverin went ~330' and there was no turn and only a slight fade at the end. I would agree with the general consesus of this being the Thunderbird wanna be.

The VIP Longbowman went maybe 300', while ending with a strong hooking fade. Definitely not Felon OS, but still much more beef than the St Pro. Quite unique disc in the Trilogy lineup really.

Finally the TP Longbowman went past 300' and got just the slightest bit of turn on the way before a moderate fade. A really lovely and tight S-line that will be workable even on wooded holes. Haven't thrown Eagles, but based on what I've heard I do see the similarities.

All of the three were brand new, so my expectations for them on the long run are big. Especially the TP bowman should become a very controllable fairway driver that still goes a long way. I really like the thinner rim, that gives me a bunch of control. At the end, I would still hold on to my opinion that it is the closest thing to a 2nd run FD that any Trilogy discs has ever been, maybe a touch faster. I like it.
