The last forum I was on (4runner forum) had a scammer like this but he actually succeeded in his attempts. Instead of just making fun of the guy they got his IP address which led to them getting his phone number, home and work address, name and wife/girl friends name, and I think even a picture of him. It was pretty hilarious to watch.
Sounds....creepy.

Yea, it's crazy what people can do. That's why you don't piss people off over the Internet.
Saw something similar happen on a caraudio forum I was on years ago. A guy came up with this huge story about something happening with his daughter and his car and how his life was falling apart and guys started raffling off all types of equipment and sent the funds to him just to find out later on it was all a lie. Pretty disgusting. Guy probably ended up with $1000+
