So I'll be traveling a lot in the near future for residency interviews, and I will get to see a lot of new cities. With that comes new DG courses, and I am on here just looking for a few suggestions for places to hit up while I'm moving around. Here are the places I'll be/be around:

Memphis, TN
Nashville, TN
Knoxville, TN
Atlanta, GA
St. Louis, MO
Birmingham, AL
Charleston, SC
Winston-Salem, NC
Durham, NC
Raleigh, NC
Richmond, VA
Charlettesville, VA
Cleveland, OH
Baltimore, MD

I should be at any one location with enough time to knock out a round either the day before or after my interview. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Cleveland: I haven't played very much in NE OH, but Roscoe Ewing in Medina or Lakeshore Park in Ashtabula are both decent courses. Roscoe is the first course in OH, a Steady Ed design (only 1 hole has survived over the years, however, #4 short tee), and 3 world champions cut their teeth on that course (both Jenkins and Wysocki).

The map and courses features on this site lets you narrow down your searches for courses based on a number of criteria. Chances are you'll want to focus on course ratings, which will show you the top courses in these markets.

Make sure to play Memorial Park when you're there.

Walnut Creek in Charlottesville, VA was a good time. If you're that close, consider looking at Spotsylvania. Hawk Hollow might be available, Lorriella is respectable, and the Blockhouse is fun (contact them ahead of time for permission).

Knoxville has a bunch of courses, and Harmon Hills is fairly close as well.

Cedar Hill and Seven Springs were fun in the Nashville area. They're on opposite sides of town though. Jones Family Bark Park is a mini course in the area if you're looking for something different. It's a short play too.

You really should play around with the course search page and find courses. This thread will probably be hard to manage with all the areas you have listed.

Charleston: Trophy Lakes

Atlanta: Perkerson Park, make a trip out to North Georgia Canopy Tours in Lula, and then Little Mullberry park in Dacula is also a gorgeous and fun course

Don't know what your time line is, and what part of Baltimore you'll be in, but if I got that close to Iron Hill, I wouldn't pass on the chance...

I live in Greensboro, NC about 30 miles east of Winston Salem. Two courses we play a lot are Johnson Street Park in High Point, which is pretty close to WS and The Patriot DGC in Kernersville, even closer. I haven't played any courses in WS. Johnson Street gets crowded but Patriot usually isn't. Hit me up if you want to play a round. Good luck with your interviews.

Memphis- Bud Hill
Atlanta- The Sinks (actually Chattanooga but real close)
If you ever go near KC go to Waterworks

If you travel through St. Louis, check out Sioux Passage and Briscoe Woods. 36+ holes in the same park. Sioux is probably my favorite course in StL. If you find yourself farther south, Jefferson Barracks and Wilmore are a couple of solid 18 hole courses. Either way, there are plenty of solid courses around here.. I'm sure the Valkyrie Kid has reviewed all of them.

While in Atlanta depending on what part of town you are in can bring you in contact with some great courses.

Downtown Perkerson is the only course, but it's a really good one. 18 holes though woods and elevation with great teepads and some minimal water.

if you go west of the city, Boundary Waters, Hunter Park and Deerlick are all really closely packed and you could easily play 2 or all three in a day. I think Boundary Waters is great.

Also Hobbs Farm is good too, but getting further from the city.

If your to the south, JP Mosley and McCurrey park are both really good plays.

North of the city, where I do most of my golfing you have Wills park(the first DG course in DG), East Roswell, White Oak and Oregon park. All of which have their charms and if you play on a weekend you will have to PM me.

The only other course that I have played in one of your target cities is Johnson Street park in High Point very close to Winston-Salem, NC. I go up there for tradeshows every year and we have played glow out there a few times and it's been fun. Not easy though. You would probably have more fun playing in daylight lol.

Good luck and have fun!

In the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area my top courses are:
UNC DGC- if it has not been raining
Zebulon
Valley Springs
Apex Nature Park
Buckhorn- Nothing like playing across the lake from a Nuclear Power Plant
Jones Park is also pretty good.

When you are in Durham, it is just a short 35 minute drive to Rockness Monster which should be a must play.

Print a map for both of these or you will be lost out there, especially UNC. I played both of these 2 just last week (after walking off both 10 years ago because of navigation issues). Finding hole 3 after 20 (#1 and #2 are pulled) is difficult, good thing I saw a golfer working on the course and was pointed in the right direction.

Knoxville, TN...The Claytons: great variety, dual pins, elevation, well executed, and Morristown Kiwanis is pretty good.

Atlanta, GA... Perkerson Park, Wonderfull course (even if the neighoborhood's questionable), & North GA Canopy Tours

St. Louis, MO... Indian Camp Creek, Quail Ridge, Sioux Passage

Cleveland, OH: I'll 2nd EJVogie's recommendation on Lake Shore in Asthabula (wonderful views of Lake Eerie), and Roscoe Ewing. Parma's decent as well. IMHO Sims is over rated.

Baltimore, MD: Seneca Creel is really good, but I actually enjoyed Ditto Farms more.

Print a map for both of these or you will be lost out there, especially UNC.
Not that I can't find my way around a course without it, but I find it helpful to print maps for pretty much every course I visit.
Can really be a time saver squeezing several courses into a single day or finishing a round while there's still daylight.

Have fun discing your way round the country!

I haven't had a chance to jump back on here in a while, but I wanted to thank everyone who contributed. I lucked out in my scheduling and managed to get Duke, UNC, and Wake Forest close together, and that's actually my first trip. Based on this thread, I'm going to use the course reviews to vet the following:

Johnson Street Park
Patriot DGC
UNC DGC
Zebulon
Valley Springs
Apex Nature Park
Buckhorn
Jones Park
Rockness Monster

I'll be out that way for ~6 days, but of course a lot of my time will be spent interviewing during the day. I'm hoping that I will be able to fit in 3-4 courses while I am out there. I'm glad people made the suggestions of printing out course maps though. If the NC courses are anything like the East TN ones, they can be pretty wooded and trickily laid out.

I live in Johnson City and actually played this course the very first time I ever attempted playing disc golf. My friend who had only played a handful of times heard about it and suggested that we go. Two brand new players equipped only with Innova starter packs on that course was quite interesting. . .

I am playing Patriot this Saturday and will update the course conditions (always do) but both JS and Patriot are always well-maintained. You can't go wrong with either of them.

I have played Johnson Street several time and have to say I am not really impressed. It is not a bad course I just think there are much better courses in the area. I am big fan of Creekside and Patriot even though Patriot is much more wide open than the courses I typically play.

Since you will be at Wake Forest, you may want to consider Horizons. It is close to campus and while it is more of a beginner course, it is the first course to be installed in NC so there is a little history there.

This is a great course list. You really can't go wrong with any of these. I would rank these on fun factor:
1. Rockness
2. Patriot
3. UNC
4. Valley
5. Buckhorn
6. Zeb
7. Apex
8. Jones
9. Johnson

I am playing Rockness this weekend so I will update the course conditions in case the storm wreaked havoc.
