The Inevitable 2017 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

So does Garret Gurthie even play disc golf anymore? I had actually forgotten him..

I'm going to assume he weighed the pros and cons of being a full time disc golfer vs focusing on a traditional job.

GG was signed up for a tourney I played in November (B-Tier Valdosta Open) up until the week before, but I think I heard that there were family issues or something that made him have to drop out of it. Don't quote me on that, but I think someone told me that while we were playing.

I've thought about doing that, for sure. Just debating if it makes sense or if it would be dominated too much by one team.

Could you start with a baseline that says, even though these players outrank these, they are equivalent for these purposes. X represents a move in one direction based on parameters y, z, W and q. Then you could see how the difference to teams move from their initial position. And of course, there'd be gambling involved...

You'd want to make sure that your parameters weren't influenced by starting position and reflected a player's ability to maintain their current ranking.

I remember reading something similar to that on the forums here as well.

Most touring pros have renewed by now actually. take a quick peek at pdga's site..

Being current for 2017 is required to sign up for the bigger tournaments, so they had to renew before they could sign up for the 2017 Memorial, GBO, etc.

I'm excited for Big Jerm custom Octothorpes now :D

Me too! And just generally excited for Big Jerm, his accomplishments, and this coming season with Innova. I was for sure a fan before, and am just even now more of a fan with him throwing discs I can relate to so well. Was cool hearing him talk about the FD on smashboxx last night, as I love that disc, and similar to his story, fell in love with it the moment it went in my hand. Just the best all around fairway there is.
Also, having had the opportunity to hang out with a few of the higher level pros on my regional journeys, such as Jerm....he immediately impressed me with his business savvy and overall deameanor. Just struck me as a really grounded guy with a good head on his shoulders, which in my experience isn't always the norm inside the top level of pros. So im excited for him for this move and advancement in his career. Couldn't have happened to a better guy, IMO.
He might just be my new favorite player that im looking forward to watching this year.

And yeah, I checked the signups a lot before just to see who I'd be playing against, and I think GG was signed up until sometime the week of the tournament.

I can't remember which CCDG it was but I think one of the guests mentioned that GG is helping his sister take care of her child. And if I recall he's also still going to school.

Tough to keep up at the pro level with those kind of commitments.

I have a friend who is 15, and played an Am tourney the first week of December that GG was at, and GG actually came up to his parents to offer him lessons and help getting sponsored
