[Putters] Not having a specific putting putter

I have 10 practice putters that live in my basket at home, and 5 more that live in my portable basket at work. Been thinking I might switch out my putting putter from my bag....

The part I don't understand is why you would bag both discs. I will usually bag one until they are no longer identical due to wear, at which point I add the fresh one.
Maintaining normalcy. Other than travel rounds where I had to pack light and only had 2-4 discs total with me, I haven't carried one putter in my bag since 1995. So maybe in my head I say I have a backup or maybe I say I want to throw them both to increase my sample size of how they fly, whatever.

I keep throwing and putting putters separate these days. I used to throw and putt with the same discs, but have definitely had some instances where I warped my putters off a drive and it affected me (a little physical a little mental) using that disc to putt with.

So while I throw the same mold as I putt, they're still different tools for different jobs. I'm not limited in what I have to use, so that's what I'm most comfortable with.

Pretty much this for me. When I first discovered Warlocks I would use them for putts and all short range throws. Inherently ended up gouging, warping, and/ or losing them so settled on keeping ones for putting only duties. Haven't had any worn beyond the point of usefulness (oldest date to 2012), but continue to add 1-2 to the rotation every year. I am the opposite of 3P though, if they don't click as putters I can always use them as the flippy/ floating throwing putter.

I carry 3 aviars, 2 kc one dx p&a, one of the KC's I only use for putting, basically just so I don't take a chunk out of it on a rock or something. The other two are for driving but will also get putted here and there. I know in Barry Shultz's in the bag he says he never putts his throwers and never throws his putters. Just like what everyone else has said, find what works for you and do that consistently

I carry 2 nearly identical putter (same mold, color, weight, plastic, just slightly different stamp) just for putting. I also have one in the same mold but slightly different base plastic for throwing. I like having the dedicated putting putters so they don't get excessively beat up.

My logic for having the two putting putters as opposed to just one is A) somehow I lose one, I still have another and B) practice. Sometimes I'll take two putts at every basket for practice, assuming the course isn't busy.

I also don't have any other practice putters at home. All of my practice is done with these two.

My putting putter is my straight approach putter. I carry two in case I lose one, and for practice putts during casual rounds. And I only carry 9-11 discs.

I started carrying a second putting putter after losing my only one during a round. Fall in the woods, blind approach to a sloped green, putter slid under a thick carpet of leaves somewhere on line with the basket, never to be seen again.

Sometimes I carry two putters in different stages of wear, but at the moment I have two that are fairly fresh. I could grab one of my "yard putters" if I wanted a beat up one, but meh. I play for fun, not for living expenses.

I used to carry a single putting putter. Hit the band and it got on edge and rolled into a canal that was full and raging from recent rains. Had to finish the round without it. Been carrying two ever since.

When I first started carrying two they were identical except for the color. Psychologically that messed me because I had more confidence in the red one than the yellow one even though they were identical otherwise.

Since then I carry two absolutely identical putters and I rotate them between every putt so that they are pretty much identically worn and I can't tell them apart.

I carry two putters. One for longer runs at the basket, and a second for the inevitable cleanups. I also like having a putter in my non-throwing hand when I'm going for the basket. I practice with a stack in that hand so it now feels odd not to have one in there.

I'm not fundamentally opposed to throwing my putting putters, but I like to throw and putt different molds.

For putting, I bag 2 putters of identical mold and listed weight. I like to have the option to throw a second putt and I play several holes with water or other hazards near the basket. I'm not particular about the specific putter that I use. I grab 2 out of my practice stack before I go play. Once on course, I grab both putters for any C1X and beyond putt and toss the one that ends up in my right hand.

My answer is similar to others. I putt with Judges, but I also throw them. I carry two:
-An old beat-in Judge for long putts, floaty approaches, touch annys, and hyzerflip drives. Probably the most used disc in my bag
-A fresher Judge for most in the circle putts, and rarely for the additional uses above when I want just a hint of late stability

My fresh Judge stays fresh for quite a while, because I also carry a variety of other slow discs that serve various purposes (I really like putters). So it doesn't get thrown much. I'd say 95% of its job is C1 putting.

I use to be the same way and would throw my putting putter. After watching Yeti's ITB several years ago I started to change my mind. Then I slammed a tree and got a bubble on the one I loved putting with. Forever changed my mind and will never throw my putting putter.

My home course (for reasons no one can explain to me) installed these abomination number plates onto the tops of the baskets:

They are thin and my "putting" putter is sliced up like a ham sammich due to those damn things. So much for a smooth and consistent feel because I'm just using it for putting. :\

I mean, they are hideous, but don't hit them. Jesus christ.

This is literally what everyone says, and it was as unhelpful when you said it as it had been the 47,381 times I'd already heard it. :|

Here's a helpful suggestion: chew gum on the course. Lots of gum. Every time you reach a basket, stick a wad of gum on one of the number plate's sharp edges. Depending how often you play and how strong your jaw muscles, the problem could be fixed pretty quickly.

You are welcome.

Anyone who wishes to thank you can probably extract your DNA from the used gum.

I carry a Soft Magnet for putting and approach up to about 50 ft. Outside that range I have an ESP Challenger for understable approach/drives, a Z Challenger for straight approach/drives and a Luna for stable approach/drives. So....yep, I got myself a putter only putter. She's a good girl.

It's just a pile of nails in the parking lot, don't run over them and you won't have a problem, jeeze whiner :wall:

I don't even remember when I started carrying 2 putting putters.

They are usually identical, so when I go to putt, I take them both and usually shuffle them in my hands before setting up to putt, so I really don't know or care if one works better then the other.

Added bonus, if I miss, I don't have to mark my lie because I already have a Putting putter in hand.

Of course I am not usually a good putter, so sometimes I refer to the putting putters as short range approach discs that sometimes actually go in accidently...

Usually putt with Fossil Flex Wizards, but lately I have been using Puffy SS Wizards for a little more glide. I carry 2 150 class Wizards (S Wizard for stable and beat SS Wizard for under-stable) for touch approaches I can't use my 71c* on.

Driving putters are old SS 175g Wizard for under-stable, G9i 175g Wizard for stable and a 170g Fossil Scale (part of mold is from Wizard so it feels like a Wizard) for very over-stable driving.
