I seem to have the problem to throw with full power on all my drives from the tee but it is starting to cool down for me a bit but they are still very hard throws.Sometimes when i throw slower and concentrate more on my shoulders i seem to throw even farther then normal. So I have been thinking about throwing with mids for distance for a while so I will try focus more on the angles instead of throwing as hard as I can.If you can throw a mid 350ft then you only need to throw drivers when it´s windy or when you need those long bombs.Maybe I will throw mids for distance one week then drivers the next and so forth.

There is one "mid" that I got out to almost 350', probably closer to 325' one time, which I have only got that far with drivers once or twice outside of that, and that was with my DX Stingray.

It is important to note, though; that my DX Stingray is pretty old and does say distance driver on it and seems to go further, although I havent been able to see a difference in its mold than my newer Stingrays that say Multi Purpose or Mid Range on them.

i dont know much about Discraft discs, but i have had fairly good success with innova and gateway mid ranges (dont currently carry gateway mids though) I would suggest Innova Cro, Innova Stingray or Gateway Element for the distance aspect. you probably wont get 350ft from the Element but it will work a consistent hyzer flip as you get better with it

Too get a nice distance on mids I always have to remember to get them up in the air, compared to drivers I can keep them 5-10 ft off of the ground and they will gain there distance just by the speed. Mids seem to have to be more in the 15-20 ft range to achieve max distance.

Rocs are by far the longest mids for me. I don't have a big arm, but with a good throw I can just get a roc to 300', while the other mids I've tried to throw for distance top out around 280' for me. I agree with Skotty, you do have to get some height under them to get good distance, just like a long putter shot.

Yeah, height is key. Give a Stingray enough height and it will come back a little eventually. At least for me. Someone throwing over 400' though, I have to imagine it would turn and burn.

I try to hyzer flip my skeeter for my longest midrange shots. I love its glide and go. Then again I don't throw the large diameter plastic which I imagine will float more and out D the small stuff. Please correct me if I am wrong.??? I have little experience with the large stuff since I don't like the feel.

I threw a 159g DX Stringray 380' with a ~5mph tailwind once. They can go far but they're touchy.

If you're looking for reliable distance then the normal, good mids would be the way to go. Rocs, Buzzes, Wasps, stuff like that. The Buzzz is probably easier to get out to 350' but it will also be harder to range, too.

I love that my star stingray will always come back if I give it enough room to work.

A cobra is my best Mid disc for distance. For me they tend to be more stable than a stingray. They are sensitve to your angle of release which (agian for me) helps to focus on a flat release. They also make a good hyser flip, tunnel driver once they become a little beat up.

I can't argue with that. I'll use the Cobra for straighter shots and my Stingray to weave around things.

I have a 180g DX Cobra but it seems like it just starts to drop all the time after it gets over 320'.I will try the Stingray but I don´t have one at the moment. The ESP Buzzz works nice for me and fly quite straight up to 350'.I am also throwing a 164g Champion Panther and it flies around 340' to but it´s more understable then the Buzzz.

I've seen zenbot's driving. He's using that Stingray a LOT more than the Cobra for upshots.:gross:
I go through phases. I was on a Stingray kick for sure. Now I've been chucking the Ray a little more.

Not you, Ray. The Stingray. I thought I should clarify.

i throw a Z buzzz whenever i want distance with a mid range, and i usually get it about 300 if i need to if not further, also the z seems to handle my power better than the flx i throw

Stingray should be more understable still.

Have you tried a Wasp? It's a little bit more stable than the Buzzz so you may be able to put a bit more juice into it.
