Boys Ranch Park in Bedford

A coworker called this to my attention today:

http://www.bedfordtx.gov/bondelection/

I don't recall seeing anything about this in this thread, so I apologize if has been mentioned elsewhere. Basically, it looks like they've got a plan for a nine-hole course at Boys Ranch Park as part of a greater redesign. The Boys Ranch Master Plan link shows a rough course layout (lower left around the lake). Looks like it could be a decent little course.

I guess if you live in Bedford, get out the vote tomorrow!

^^^this, i think

i saw a big splintered piece of wood off the fairway near there the last time i was there. looked like it may have come from the Z. :/

Friggin idiots tearing up stuff. I guess we can't have nice things. Nothing we can do.

It look pretty crazy for a 9 holer. Six of the holes giving you the pond as a water hazard. And it's off to the side, not through the middle of the park.

lol @ hole 8

Yeah, I would hope this isn't a final configuration. I wouldn't care much for throwing around a pavilion like that on #8. #6 looks like a good way to irritate some homeowners. Plus a walking trail all over that layout. Overall, though, doesn't look too bad...most of the holes look around 300-320ft or so (google maps tool), and some trees plus the ever-present water hazard could make for a decent course. I would hate to be a primarily LHBH/RHFH player there, though.

What happened to the Z at Z Boaz? Not the metal Z at the parking lot, but the big wood and chain art thing on #15. We took some friends there for the first time, and were disappointed when it wasn't there.

The wooden Z was taken down after multiple attempts to "fix" it. Everytime we "fixed" it, someone else contributed and we finally got tired of looking at the dilapidated Z and took it down.

The horseshoe is still there and hopefully will stay there. I get some good luck every time I pass it.

Consequently, we had a new metal Z constructed and put up in the parking lot. Maybe this will keep people from jacking with it. But here you go.

Anna, TX course

I've read on here about a new course in Anna, TX that's been delayed quite a bit. Anyone have any new info? I'll be up in that part of DFW on Friday already playing a couple of new courses, and if that one is playable, I may as well add it to the list. Thanks all.

Played McCord park about 3 days ago now, really like the advanced tee's on this course. Wanting to go back out there, but the wind out here needs to die down a little bit!

As far as I know, there has been zero progress. There is no course in Anna.

Not so sure I like McCord Park. There's a few fun shots off the long tees, but alot of crossing fairways from the longs as well. If it gets busy in the summer it could be kinda rough to play. I understand there wasn't a ton to work with with that piece of land though

Playground is cool though lol

Thanks for the update! I talked with the guys up at the DD store and I know they are involved on the redesign at Trophy Club. I would like to try it out after they get it fixed up.

I went to Trophy Club yesterday, and 1-9 are in a new configuration. There are now concrete teepads for these nine, and baskets have been moved to what I assume are their new locations. There is no signage yet, so it takes a little exploring to figure it all out (at least I think I figured it out).

It is still early on these, but I have to say it's definitely an improvement over the previous first nine. These now have more reasonable hole lengths instead of being in the 90-150ft range like the previous config (did not measure, but feel in the 180-350 range) with some more open and some more woodsy, technical shots. #9 is fairly long (400? 500?). Some of the fairways still have some growth that should clear some as people begin to play more.

Not much seems to have been done on 10-18 as of now, but I'm glad they apparently were looking at the first nine initially as they needed to be redone more. I'd be curious to know more about what, if anything, DD, et al, have in mind for those.

Approximate lengths for the new front 9 at Trophy Club, starting from hole 1:

382, 375, 260, 203, 314, 308, 280, 275, 585

These will be more accurately measured once the tee signs are made. There are still a few adjustments to be made on the front 9, but tee pads and baskets are all in so it is completely playable. We will begin work on the back 9 shortly and hope to have all 18 redesigned and ready for play by early Spring.

Woohoo! Thanks Brad, I will be heading out there tomorrow to check it out! Thanks to Dynamic Discs Lewisville for updating the course.
