I searched and searched for anything about this before hand, but it won't search "3" or "three".

Who has used both, or can see any differences in them? I don't use my pinky when driving anything except putters. Once i throw the pinky into the mix, its a whole different form.

Any REAL reason to change?

I use them both. But with 4 fingers I also move my thumb a little more towards the center of the disc. I can get a little more power but loss a little control. I mostly use the 3 finger grip.

I can't use 4 fingers, it just dosen't work for me. Droping to 2 fingers will make the disc hyzer. I use 2 fingers for hyzer approach shots.

ive tried 2 and 3...doesn't feel to weird to me. but I can't control the disc as much as with 4. I use 4 for distance and birdie grip for shorter controlled shots, hyzer skips mostly.

I used 3 finger for about 6 years then switched to 4 and noticed an immediate increase in distance and accuracy. Haven't looked back on the 3 finger grip since but I plan on tooling around with it this coming season.

Side note: My friend, who is one of the biggest arm throwers I know, uses only 2 fingers. He throws 500+ on command and has parked a 640 foot hole at Belmont several times with a Star Destroyer. So much snap, his snap is louder than anyone's I've ever heard. It seems like he turns stuff over very easily with his grip though. His rollers are crazy.

awesome feedback guys.

I can hold a disc with 4 fingers comfortably, once I goto throw its weird. My main concern was maybe I'm losing distance, but that doesn't make sense to me, and I too lose accuracy when I use 4 fingers.

I also know a dude that bombs 500+ with 2 fingers...he also looks like he does NOTHING when he drives as well heh. He has to put EVERYTHING on a massive hyzer heh...his snap is ridiculous.

My buddy uses three. He keeps his pointer on the outside edge of the rim and other tucked under like a power grip. He says he can keep it nose down better but I get the opposite when I do this. He only throws about 25' further than me on average so no worries.

whoa, wait .. so he uses his middle, ring and pinkie finger?

Yeah he does. I've told him to try other grips, but he says that works best for him. He can get out to about 380' max so we aren't talking crazy distance. He has a lot of OAT because of it. Everything comes out of his hand on a slight anhyzer then curves back at the end. I guess cuz he throws further than me, he doesn't listen to me.

This reminds me EXACTLY of my buddy Chris who does it. He throws these 350+ spike hyzers with 11x Firebirds that look so effortless, they get SO much freaking height and are deadly accurate in low winds. He uses 3 fingers for putter and mid driving to keep them from turning over. Can throw a Rhyno well over 350 and his Buzz is flirting with the 450 range on controlled hyzer lines. Dude is exactly the same build as me too; about 5''10 145 lbs and lanky. Gives me hope for my big distance game.

Nuts....

Yeah...its hard for me to learn from him because his form is so effortless theres nothing noticeable! all in the hipz I suppose

Haha. When Chris tried to explain his shot to me he goes "you just gotta BOOST it man!!"

It's all form, he is one of the most coordinated people I know, really good at skateboarding and other crap like that.

I went from 4 to 3 and found that added about 20 feet to each of my throws. I added distance and control on my drives but my approach accuracy has fallen off dramatically because I have a hard time now going back to 4 fingers for an approach.

I use the typical 4 finger power grip. I feel like I have a little more control and snap. Plus if I were to only use three fingers I would feel awkward with not having my pinky finger on the disc. What would it do?

I have had some success with only three fingers for a week or two in the summer when my pointer finger was cracking and I couldnt throw without pain and further damaging the finger. I called it the Claw or hook grip because my pointer finger had to stick out like a claw to not get involved in the release.

I noticed some added distance back when I switched to 3 fingers...but I also noticed that my accuracy was WAY off...might have just didn't spend enough time with it though..dunno heh.
