Foothill Flyers Disc Golf Club is proud to present the 2010 Colorado State Disc Golf Championships. This year's event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 10-11.

Two courses will be utilized for the event: Beaver Ranch ="http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2488"]http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2488 and Bailey Disc Golf Course (a temporary course located approx. 15 minutes from Beaver Ranch).

This is a PDGA-sanctioned A-Tier event. FFDGC promises to provide outstanding mountain disc golf and a fantastic players package including (but not limited to) a sport-fabric shirt with tournament logo, pint glass with tournament logo, and a premium plastic disc with tournament stamp (Players Package subject to change, Open divisions package may vary). LOTS OF ADDED CASH IS ANTICIPATED TOO!!

Come and visit our beautiful mountain community and enjoy some of the best disc golf in the US (Beaver Ranch is currently ranked 6th on the www.dgcoursereview.com home page and Bailey DGC is a fantastic course on par with Beaver Ranch but not open to public but for special events!!)

For additional details, please visit the FFDGC webpage: http://ffdgc.net/tournaments/states-2010.html

Lodging is available by contacting Beaver Ranch directly @ 303.838.3705. Cabin, Tent, and RV camping are all available on the Beaver Ranch grounds.
Additional lodging options will be posted at the FFDGC webpage in the near future.

I just joined the PDGA and def haven't played in any sanctioned tourneys yet...I'm a pretty average player and would like to play in some events this year, but I'm not sure if this would be too high level of an event for just an average player like me to enter??

This is a common question that all TD's get. This would be a great tournament for your first! There are all skill levels available. Try Rec or Intermediate for your first tournament.

Thanks!

Just so y'all know, Ponto knows how to put on a tournament and on top of that Colorado States is one of the best tournaments I have ever played in. This event is going to be well worth it.

question..would i be able to purchase just the players pack? coming from illinois i wouldnt be able to make it?

i see it as more money in the pot and one less person to try and get it :)

Players Pack

I'd be happy to sell you a players pack. Haven't put a price on it just yet but I'd anticipate it being around $45 (tournament stamped disc, wicking shirt with front and back logos, and pint glass with logo).

Thanks.

Over $3000 in added cash and counting!!

As of today, we now have over $3000 in added cash committed from our sponsors for the 2010 CO State Disc Golf Championships. Our goal of $5000 is within reach and we anticipate no worse than $4000 with a prize purse anticipated to be over $10000!!!

Both courses are co-designed by Mike Randolph of Team Discraft http://www.discraft.com/team_randolph.html

World Champions and top touring Pro's agree, these are two fantastic locations. Peter Shive of Team Innova, a 9 time Senior Grandmasters World Champion http://www.innovadiscs.com/team/the-masters/peter-shive.html had this to say:
Both courses are beautiful. Bailey plays over a central wooded and elevated area that is surrounded by a more open and rolling plain. Beaver Ranch is very tight because of all the pine trees. The course is built into a rugged, forested ridge and there's lots of elevation change. Both courses are demanding and require good physical fitness.

Kathy Hardyman, a 3 time Women's Grand Master World Champion http://fadegear.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=16&chapter=2%20 says:
Beaver Ranch and Bailey are both beautiful, classic Colorado courses. When people come to CO to play they want to see Colorado, not just another park, and these two are definitely Colorado. They provide lots of hiking, scenery, wildlife and fresh air. Personally, I prefer courses that are more technical and require skill, not just distance, and I can get that on these courses. Both courses will test your game and have you wanting more.

Players package is coming together nicely as well. All amateur players will receive a tournament-stamped disc, a wicking tournament screen-printed shirt, and a pint glass with a choice of two tournament logos!! All Pro players will receive a pint glass and have the option of purchasing their first disc and/or shirt at a special price.

Also, we have reached an agreement for Zoka's to cater a Saturday night dinner for us at the Main Lodge of Beaver Ranch!! The Main Lodge is a spectacular building at the base of the disc golf course and the on-location cabin/tent camping. This will be a nice buffet-style dinner from one of our finest area restaurants!! www.zokasrestaurant.com. For $10 you will receive dinner and your first beverage (which will include a very fine pour for those of age).

Getting back to that camping; FFDGC has reserved 4 of Beaver Ranch's finest on-site cabins for this event. The cabins normally run $60/night but for just $85, you can reserve your cabin FOR BOTH NIGHTS on site and be right in the heart of all the action. These cabins sleep up to 8 people. That's as little as $5/night if you fill the cabin!!

Please go to www.ffdgc.net to reserve your spot in this event, for details on how to sponsor, and to book your cabin. Additional lodging options from some of our area bnb's will also be posted soon at the website.

Also, don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or 303.944.6663 if you have any comments, suggestions, or questions.

THIS IS AN EVENT YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS!! TWO AMAZING MOUNTAIN DISC GOLF COURSES IN THE HEART OF THE COLORADO ROCKY MOUNTAINS!!

LODGING
Tent camping and Cabin lodging at Beaver Ranch: What could be better than staying on the grounds where most of the action will take place? Whether you are from the Denver area or traveling in, the convenience and advantage of staying at tournament central is obvious. Saturday night will be a lot of fun for those staying on the grounds and you won't find a better deal in town. Tent camping is $7 per person per night or you can reserve a bed in a cabin for as little as $10/night. Want to reserve your own cabin? For just $85 you have your own cabin for both Friday and Saturday nights! These cabins are basic with electricity and beds, but when you camp/stay at Beaver Ranch you also have access to showers and water at the main lodge. To reserve your cabin or tent space, please go to http://ffdgc.net/tournaments/states-2010.html. Just underneath "Register Online" there is a drop-down with all the Beaver Ranch lodging options listed. There is limited availability so please reserve ASAP!!

Additional area lodging options: If you're looking for a more traditional lodging option but still want to experience the uniqueness that Colorado has to offer, take a peak at http://ffdgc.net/tournaments/2010-states-lodging.html. We have posted information on each area lodging option including drive distance to/from each course location. The Clifton House, Glen Isle, and The Bailey Lodge are all offering 10% discounts when you mention the disc golf tournament upon booking.

LOW COST LUNCH

One of our sponsors, Platte Canyon Chamber of Commerce, is working with Safeway and/or Subway to provide low cost lunches on site at both the Bailey and Conifer locations. For somewhere between $3-$5, you will receive a sandwich lunch on the grounds! You will be able to purchase this lunch at registration so please keep this in mind.

PLAYERS PARTY

Zoka's Restaurant catered dinner: Kurt Blackwell, owner of Zoka's Restaurant (http://zokas.com/), has once again stepped up and will be providing a fantastic buffet-style dinner on Saturday night at the Beaver Ranch main lodge. For $10, you will receive a great dinner featuring one of Zoka's specialties as well as your first adult beverage from Avery Brewery (21 and older) (http://www.averybrewing.com/)!! Avery will also have two kegs on hand and many schwag handouts as well. There's a good chance you'll be able to catch the action of the day of play on the big screen while you enjoy your meal.

Raffle: There will be several great prizes raffled off at the Players Party, including several disc golf baskets, assorted custom disc packs including Innova and Discraft fundraiser discs, and sets of 4 pint glasses to name a few items.

Fly-Mart: Area vendors will have the option of setting up for the flymart on Saturday evening as well.

Texas Hold-em Poker tournament: The main lodge has a lot of room and rooms and there's a good chance a poker tournament will break out as well. Running poker tournaments is one of my specialties so I hope to be able to bring this to the event.

Music, raffle, and more!: There's an outside shot at live music, there will almost certainly be a raffle (in the past we've raffled off pdga-approved baskets) and much more.

Camp Fire at camping central: What could be better than hanging by the fire with fellow disc golfers sipping on an Avery pour? As long as conditions allow for a fire, we will have a fire. Disc games are sure to break out as well.

Foothill Flyers Disc Golf Club is really looking forward to this event. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions pertaining to anything above or tournament-related.
