2019 Pros Switching Sponsors Official Thread

Read most of the McBeth speculation and wanted to guess Paul asked for X, Innova declined, Paul will go elsewhere for a while, do ok (accompanied with lots of Internet over analyzing), then will eventually find his way back to Innova at some point down the road.

Boring guess, but that's my guess.

So, McLebron?

To those people who think he is going off to design his own discs, do you guys really think it'd be that easy? Experienced engineers struggle with R&D stuff, let alone a random Joe. Just because you can throw a disc doesn't mean you know how to design one. How come tiger or Phil never designed their own golf clubs? Same thing. Not taking anything away from Paul, but let's think this through.

Tiger and Phil design their own wedges and putter. And have input on everything used, shafts, grips, weighting of club heads. Your wrong on this logic

I do hope that this part of the rumor is true, that McBeth will "design" new discs. As in, he'll tell Discraft what he wants and their engineers will try to make it for him. It would be fascinating to see the results.

What do we think of other companies who have tried this? What are the examples? The Mace and Dagger for Feldberg, Compass and Explorer for Rick, Truth for EMac, Zone for MJ...

What else? Seems like the Mace might be the only "failure."

I'm sure he would sit down with Discraft's designers & create what he wants.

Ian is just sitting here waiting to post:

Almost all of Legacy's lineup is what Steve Rico wants to throw

I hear he's just branding himself and Discraft is gonna give him a new company called Fit Disc Golf. That way all his fans can say, "I'm throwing a Fit too!"

Would he be able to throw MVP too? Cause if so he could also throw a Tantrum!

Well...., that equates Innova with Cleveland and that's really not nice. Innova's had way more success than that.

Well, could be worse, could be Philadelphia:

"Philadelphia consistently ranks above the national average in terms of crime, especially violent offenses. It has the highest violent crime rate of the ten American cities with a population greater than 1 million residents, as well as the highest poverty rate among these cities. It has been included in real estate analytics company NeighborhoodScout's "Top 100 Most Dangerous Cities in America" list every year since it has been compiled."

Philly is a fantastic city. And has a lower crime rate than Cleveland as well. No need to throw stones...

"The overall crime rate in Cleveland is 145% higher than the national average. For every 100,000 people, there are 19.03 daily crimes that occur in Cleveland. Cleveland is safer than 1% of the cities in the United States. In Cleveland you have a 1 in 15 chance of becoming a victim of any crime."

Discraft=White-trash?

I can only speak from my observation in my area, so take that with a grain of salt.

In my area, Discraft is considered the white trash of Disc golf. An old company that has kind of fallen by the way side in it's presence. The only people around me that throw exclusively Discraft are old timers and the guys who need rides to league because of one too many DWIs.

If Discraft wants to up their game, increase they're media presence and create a new image, Paul could be the ticket. And I for one would like to see Discraft up it's efforts with some new plastics and a more professional look.

Some see Paul moving to Discraft as a step backwards (or sideways at best), but I think they're not seeing the bigger future possible picture. Then they're are those fan boys that just can't accept change.

I'll admit I was shocked, I thought Paul would throw Innova for life like Climo, but I got over it. One of the reasons I never gravitated towards any hero worship, they'll always let you down. Nobody can live up to someone elses expectations.

I don't know what the future hold for Paul, but I wish him the best and will still look forward to watching him play, even if it is with Discraft. I'll have to reconsider that statement however if he moves to DD!:D

See post #1666.

No offense, but your area sounds depressing ;) . And I live in a super rural area where there

are lots of wannabe redneck, bud light drinkin', pick-up truck drivin', huntin', fishin', shootin'

rootin'-tootin', not high falootin', possibly dreamin' of inbreedin', fine upstanding citizens :D .

I am not a Discraft fanboy, but I have always enjoyed some of their plastic offerings.

I never honestly thought anybody would think Discraft was "white-trash". The socio-economic

spectrum of disc golf is probably somewhat similar to the rest of society. Thanks for the chuckle.

Yes and crime is crime. I'd just as soon be a victim of violent crime as theft, wouldn't you?

Being involved in design/input differs greatly from actual design. Did they actually sit down and draw them up? Or did they tell an engineer "hey this is what I want, make it happen"? Unless you can definitively tell me it was the former, no, I'm not wrong.

actually I played professional golf and they do sit down. They don't draw them up, but they tell them where they want the weighting in the perimeter, how heavy they want the clubs, they can change shapes and sizes and grooves with them at player preference. The shaft change, the grips change, all for each individual player. You cannot do that with a disc. they can make a new mold and attempt to make a new disk, but they do not have the individual versatility like Ball Golf. Not to mention, there are removable weights in golf clubs that can be interchanged from round around to make differences. All of these are at player preference and immediate. and just in case something isn't going right you can change the Loft and lie of the club for each individual person. There are a million combinations with a golf club, and you do not get that with a disc no matter who you are

I can ask for 10 different shafts and get 10 different results without even touching the club head. Endless adjustment options and combinations with club head and shaft, all legal and can be done within minutes. The 3rd layer is the multitude of ball choices.

I think you would be surprised at how many people will custom grind their own clubs because I know exactly what they want. They won't let another person touch them because they've been doing it for 20 years to get their own specific results

The engineer is an absolute tool in Ball Golf. They are told what to do, like programming a computer. Real Engineers the golfer who is out doing all of the research and development on the course, deciding which combination works best for them.

think about F1 racing and how dialed in the driver is with every piece of the car. They're the real engineers, but you're not going to see them stamping out parts for the car.
